Volkswagen Tiguan - one cooling fan is not working

- One of the cooling fan is intermittent. It only works when I touch it.
Engine oil light level when the oil level is fine.
Only one cooling fan runs but at high speed when engine is off .. trying to cool the engine .
This video will show you how I verified the failure and replace the defective cooling fan
This job will take about 2 hrs once you have the tools picked out .
You will need a low profile small ratchet that can accept the torque bit (as shown in the video) - Розваги

I have a 2010 VW Tiguan and the big fan on the radiator fan assembly is wobbling
I and I had to pull over and the vehicle shut off
I found a duel fan assemble for $189 on rock auto's website that I ordered.
When you get the fan, if the assembly is slightly diff, you can just transfer the actual fan motor and blade. You will need to remove the fan assembly out of the car . Good luck and thanks for the comment here .

If it is a large fan, Yes it would have an affect on engine temperature . You can help by turn on engine cabin heater to lower engine temperature till you get looks after. Smaller fan does help but it meant for AC system
Can you still drive the tiguan if the ac fan is not working but the radiator fan still works?
Yes you can . Just can’t run the AC as it won’t be very effective and could over heat the AC system. Just make sure AC switch is off

I'm having the same issue with my 2013 VW Jetta. Aren't they roughly the same issue?
Common failure yes.
You can try to use compressed air and blast at the back of the motor (inside) to clean the brushes . Not easy to get to the brushes as they the air opening are small . The motor is not serviceable .
Can you drive the car if large one is broken and just not use AC?
You can drive on steady speed but not through stop and go as you get air flow while the car is moving. If you see the temperature gauge creep up, turn on cabin heater and set cabin heater fan on maximum. That will help to cool the engine coolant. Large fan for cooling the engine coolant so it is important to get that fixed.
@@maniata8869the temperature gauge has not show to overheat even in traffic over the past month. I can hear the AC fan working harder at times. I live in Missouri so gets chilly in winter. Should I be fine without fixing until summer rolls around? Thanks for the advice!
