- Divinity Original Sin 2: Which Build Is Right For You? DOS2 Best Builds for you. In this video we take a look at many of Divinity's Builds and help you determine which is right for you.
In this Divinity Original Sin 2 Best Builds guide we’re going to explore what Build is right for you. While we wait patiently for Divinity: Fallen Heroes, which is due out sometime later this year, I thought it would be a good idea to sort of index the Builds I have made, and point players in the right direction if they are having trouble selecting one. The Builds themselves are rather straight forward, but it isn’t always easy picking the best fit for you or your party, regardless of whether you’re new or a veteran player. In this Guide we’ll cover just that.

I wonder what the end of the game is like. I wouldn't know because I keep creating new characters
Red prince gets HIV
@@Raspberry-wp8wx I burst out laughing when I read this
I still haven't made it to the end though, so idek if this is a joke..
Took me 156 hours to beat the game once, reaching Driftwood 3 times and doing Fort Joy 12 times
@@tomlopez6042 I have about 340 hours in the game and never gotten past Arx. I keep making new characters, I've done For Joy at least 20 times
and I thought I'm the only who have that habit 🙈🙈🙈
Always recreating characters, which is why Fort Joy is a Jail. You never really get out of Fort Joy.
Ther is a mod that allows you to use the mirror in Fort joy so you can mess around with builds freely
Exactly, still haven't left Fort Joy yet. And own the game on xbox, switch and pc too. Dammit.
@@TheOrgil220 Jesus Christ man just pick one.
Just got out after 130hours 😂😂
It should be called Fort Sad instead.
One does not stop playing D:OS2. One does just have a longer hiatus.
oh i stopped, i insta died by a scripted quest death, literally untouchable character, dealing 16k damage with a certain spell, lone wolf solo honour game, i quit
Yamedo if you play by divinity’s rules, your are setting yourself up to fail.
I really need to finish the damn game. It's great but theres just so much to play right now

Just got this game on steam sale, I had no idea what was going on and this channel has been great in terms of gaining knowledge about this game without any spoilers. You do great work, thank you!
Just started it been enjoying myself
“While we patiently wait for Divinity: Fallen Heroes, which is due out sometime later this year”
Pain 🥲
still nothing
They are spending all their time on BG3.
@@nobodyimportant8695 I'm sorry we took larian for BG3, on the bright side, they're doing well with BG3, It's far from completion, but looks extremely promising.
acutally another company is doing divinity fallen heroes while they getting assitance from larian but yeah their focus is bg3
A build I would recommend is a corrupt undead rogue. With the healing of leech and poison, it can be pretty op. Unlimited lock picks, and you can spam ooze barrels for heal potions.

I played the original version of the game, and I haven't had the time to give the enhanced edition a try. So I was wondering what changed that made the elemental champion not viable anymore???
Please do a video on good classes and party combinations to help when your main character is Fane or an undead. My favourite character by far is fane and I am just having trouble making him mesh well with the rest of the group.
I'm doing a shield hero run. One of my characters only buffs, summons, and blocks.
Your so damn helpful. Your channel truly deserves more recognition.
Very nice compilation as always. This cahnnel is so underrated! But keep bringing great content!!
4 Summoners, with different minors, A summoner/hydrosophist, a Summoner/pyro, etc.
Just saw this in my recommendations. This was nicely done and surprised me
This game is a great CRPG, like Ultima 4 through 7. I like your builds Fextra, awesome info. After handfuls of practice games I ended up keeping two. One is a party of 4 consisting of Knight, Polymorph, Witch and Ranger. The amount of physical damage and crowd control is very satisfying. The other game I kept is a party of 2 lone wolf undead, Geo/Summ and a Tri-mentalist Hydro/Aero/Pyro and the magic damage is through the roof. Both games goin strong in classical. Thanks again for videos Fextra!!!
After 400 hours, i feel so burn out for this game but part of me wants it to play again
Onur I’m on the fence about purchasing it
@@smokeybear1925 what are you even waiting for, buy it now.
@@anton_hansson just did, about 1.5 hours into game and its ok but I'm sure I have a long way to go before it gets intense
U are crazy after starting it multiple times I find it incredibly boring to do same things over and over again
@@Asura2k that's you, I for one like playing through good games many times it's just different each time since it's so good.
My eternal warrior is amazing thanks for you detailed guide. Ur party comp video was super informative. Thanks so much
I like the names you give to the builds. Very original
I’m with you there. I really hope we get more info on Fallen Heroes. I really really want to learn more about Rivellon during the Original Sin 2 era.
Your guides helped me a lot in:
- deciding to buy the game
- be less afraid of it
-> have lots of fun with it
This is a great wrap-up video that will make it easier for me to decide my party moving forward. Currently standing in front of the re-spec mirror and taking mental notes. Very much looking forward to your future coverage of RPGs.
It's An amazing game and fun time with friends or solo
I bought the game for xbox on release and never played much of it (got to the town at Fort joy). I just don't know where to start with anything! I generally like to play a melee build but not sure what my build should be, I'm scared I'm going to let npcs die, I'm scared I'm going to mess up quest lines. It's all just a bit intimidating and I'm just a bit lost.
Same here. I had the game for almost a year and I didn't get very far because I didn't know what I was doing, so I stopped playing out of fear of rendering it unplayable. With this video alongside the webpage with all those builds I have started a new playthrough. Let's see what characters I can build!
@@usphur3949 goodluck, let us know how you get on.
Out of all the classes I've played as, the Knight is my favorite.
A Knight can be your best damage-dealer, crowd-controller, and tank if you build it just right.
Always invest in Warfare and Necromancy.
Warfare ups your damage while Necromancy heals a portion of your health from the damage you deal.
Knights are OP.
I do this class as an elf for the extra ap and damage buff. I made him feel like Gareth with pyro, warfare and hydro. So you can say he's a spellcaster, tank and support
Just bought the game. 5 Minutes in character creation and i'm here. Oh boy, the comments aren't helping either.
Just have fun with it. You can change everything any time after the first island with no cost. You cant really go wrong.
@@rafnork9325 thanks, very helpful
I just got this game yesterday, I spent five minutes kicking down a door that went nowhere when I knew I could've just went up a ladder to get to the next area
THIS is the freedom of choice I was hoping for!

@@alteisengenji8874 i'm still in this situation 20hours of game time lol
DOS2 content in July 2019, thank you Fex
I’m loving this game I’m using lone wolf with 2 skeletons going tank-mage, using all 4 elements and so far the game is a breeze, im loving it since nothing has been terribly hard and the freedom it gives you to complete quests and how you approach the world it’s amazing.
I’m sitting at 60 hours and just arrived to arx but I’m already looking forward to creating a new character lol.
Just got this game today I dont know how I missed it I heard coworker talking about it when I mentioned how much I loved the old baulder gate games was thinking about making some form of a death knight before I even watched this video now I'm sold.
Yeah I only learned of this and Divinity 1 when they came to Xbox One. Now I am hooked!
That's funny I had a very similar situation. I missed this game although I kept hearing people say it was good. I saw the baulder's gate games coming to switch and thought I'd like to play those again but when I was looking for them at a game store I ran into this game instead for cheap. I was completely blown away this game is great!
I missed it entirely too, probably because I tend to swipe past games with names longer than 56 words.
Great video thanks the effort put in is well worth it
Great vid and loads of help. One thing I found was it was quite quick with the classes and I couldn’t read the pros and cons in time. Had to keep pausing.
Otherwise great info. Will keep watching you.
Oh boy. I got in over my head with this game, didn't I?
You and me both.
You just got a subscriber, thanks a lot for these awesome builds. I can’t wait for fallen heroes!
loved this. i am gone play this all over again :-)
One of my fave switch games and one of the best channels talking about it. Luck is with me today!
Thanks for this! My friend and I are playing for the first time this week. I'm going Dwarven Inquisitor.

Absolute worst year for games with all the delays
@@JakeEatNow yeah I have a lil more then that, but I'm kinda new to these games. But I find it fun and easy to get into the story
Thanks for this, I need to go back through my builds and respec a bit because I forgot the ones I was using haha
one of my fav games of all time!
Thanks for making this 👍
Lone wolf is really fun for a couples/mates type of gameplay, or if you're into soloplay. I mainly go for summoner/Necro builds early on since you can bring in an ally and sap health. Just my two cents
Edit* This game heavily rewards experimentation and finding what works best for you
I think im gonna play this now. I jave finished the first one 2 times and going for the third now.
I developed my own build within the game that I dubbed “The Arch-Wizard”. As the name implies it’s a spell caster that utilizes all the schools of magic minus Polymorph. Through equipment and well thought out leveling, The Arch-Wizard is a min-max mage build that can cast the most powerful of spells from all schools, allowing him to support his allies, weaken his enemies, keep himself alive, and to simply rain down destruction and bend the world to his will. A tricky build to make as you might have to rely on equipment that boosts skills, but if mastered The Arch-Wizard is a spell caster you don’t want to cross for he his a true master of the arcane arts.
*laughs in Lone Wolf min-maxed Polymoporh warrior, necromancer Assasin Elf character. 10AP permacrits with max Strength at level 10.
Polymorph is great because of apostheosis which allow you to reduce source cost for all skills to 0 for two turns
That was a fun and informative comment to read
@@JarpanPL and Medusa head is OP if you're doing magic builds
I really miss this game. Will re-install and play it again very soon.
Even though I have a PS$ and PC, I waited until the Switch version. Just got it today and I CAN'T wait to start playing ! awesome guide
I have the game on my PC and Xbox one x. How do you like the game on Switch? Is it smooth?
@@fianoanthonio yes. So far. I did encounter an issue while doing quick saves that required me to restart the game but only once
Still love my dwarf Stormchaser with his staff
He amount of build variety of this game is crazy. I'm playing DOS EE and the sequel is miles ahead (but i'm still having tons of fun, solid foundation)
I am never good at character creation. It’s not that I create bad characters, it’s because I’m never satisfied with what I made. One day I want to be a powerful wizard while the next I want to be a sneaky rogue. This causes me to never get past the 4 hour mark without creating a new character. 😣
I feel exactly the same, is extremely frustrating
I have 2 campaigns running, so I don't have that issue! Playing a Tank/Support/Healer (my OC) and Ranger (Lohse) in my co-op campaign. And I have a Rogue (Sebille) and Warrior (Red Prince) on my solo Lone Wolf campaign.
(Only just made it to Reaper's Coast so no spoilers, please lmao)
lone wolf death knight+ necromancer is so fun
A buffer tank most usefull I found but my main is a polymorph/aero at the moment. (Just because it's the the only skills I don't have covered).
My other two are geo/summ (druid) and then I sometimes use necro/scoundrel or red Prince elementalist focused on ice.
So bottom line is cover as main bases as poss and the odd summon never goes amiss! Having attacks that can destroy magic or Phys armour very handy as you never know when u need to focus on one or the other.
N all chars I think need two forms of flight or escape mode. Quite easy to do if u put some points into polymorph which is very usefull even because of tentacle lash/bull rush/chameleon cloak etc.
N always have a teleporter! The times have teleporter an enemy to the edge of a fire etc for him to pretty much be dead. Works great on strong melee enemies that want to smash you.
Next one might try a full undead poisonous party. Area effects n play dead X4.
only sharing this tips
for those who wants
1. didn't care if we got underleveled but win the battle with lovely 100% hp, armor
2. collect resurrect scroll and potion a lot and super rarely use it
3. want to know how to use sneak + guerrila properly (because people in a lot of forum said it was useless)
use invisible spell 1st then go sneak (use cloak and dagger/any teleport/jump skill + use shift to determind sneak position.... any not red vision is posible... even the back of the enemy (for example use rogue/shadowblade.... then go invisible then go sneak.... mostly forever not found)
skip until cd of invisible spell is 1
delay turn (if the 1st turn is that hero)
atk
the last 1 point is to use to invisible
repeat
i guaranteed it will super rare for the enemy to search for you (mostly just standing by.... drinking tea)
i'd say this step is easy level...
or....
go sneak.... and jump using "cloak and dagger" and walk more... but it was harder than the top step.... and much easier for the enemy to look for you....
i'd say this step is medium level...
negative part
very long gameplay.... combine with immune death + the chain if you want a little bit faster
I am kind of disappointed that for the Rogue classes, there was not even a single mention about their primary and most efficient perk - Backstabbing which deals immense amount of damage based on Scoundrel's Crit Damage multiplier and how well it synergies with all other melee type abilities that also share the same backstab mechanics, making them one if not the only class that is able to one-shot an elite enemy, refresh abilities and one-shot another one in a single turn!
Get devourer armor and you never have to stop!
Every class can one shot most enemies with the right build.
Even Adramahlihk
just finished this game, and when in late game, i feel rogue classes deal significantly less damage compared to two handed melee warrior and blood mage and pure ranger.
what great timing
amazing video
What is this? A Divinity Orginal Sin two video in twenty nineteen? I picked this game up a few months back and the build videos on it where not helpful with helping me understand the stats. Great vid boss, this is how you describe a build give me numbers and what stats too focus on.
my normal build is 1 x rogue and 3 rangers who all have skills such as tactical retreat of course
Really thanks
lone wolf with a Ranger/Summoning and get the Red Prince as an NPC. Once you get to level 10 Summoning (very quick with Lone wolf) and get the Colossal Incarnate with infusions, plus a decent supply of charm and knockdown arrows... nobody beats you.
I've had a really, really great time playing on Classic Mode with Eternal Warrior, Juggernaut, Ranger, and Tectonic Sage. The Juggernaut in particular is just un-killable.
Hey Fextralife, Thanks for your guidance, they were very helpful and interesting to play.
I got a tiny question about the skill Reflective Barrier: I saw on several builds, that you can use the skill without a shield. Why is that?
I’ve never played divinity but I really want try it
Your guides let me not worry too much about fucking myself over in the beginning ! Now i'm at arx and understand how things work, no longer scared of building my characters. Thanks a lot !
I haven't played divinity since its release. That's going to change now.
During my playthrough I used a human Knight character named Geralt.
Knights are great, especially with Death Knight. :D
Make another one named Arthas.
@@Gerolanfalan
Man, they really should've made Warcraft 4 YEARS ago..
3 was freaking amazing.
Sword and board for me. Always. And yes, Death Knight is VERY strong in DOS2.
So strong combined with lone wolf that its not funny
Yes it is
3:17 As someone who sticks to 2 Skill Trees, MAYBE 3 if I really need it. This is killing me. I know i'm too dumb to make and successfully use high level builds but seeing someone have Warfare, Polymorph, Hydro, Necromancer, & Scoundrel looks like such a MAD build that it can't be effective; even it is in game.
I'm too used to my D&D mindset of sticking to 1 Ability and avoiding dipping into other areas unless they are a tried and true method I reasonably understand as I have an eternal fear of making a character that is not performing in the most optimal way.
Which is bad because I typically make suboptimal moves/builds.
I just started the game for the first time. Really dense.
Really enjoyed my first playthrough as lone wolf, duo, necro-warfare, undead and sebille. Feels awesome to just wack wack and wack enemies to death.
RIP Fallen Heroes. Larian sent everyone to BG3 (and we're excited!)
One of my characters is a Summoner/Hydrophist hybrid with a couple of Necromancer skills. It's a bit challenging but it seems to be coming along well...
I've done a summoner/hydrosophist either. Healing, water damage and summoning is very fun :)
I'm currently about to play honor mode with some friends of mine. I've beaten the game a good couple of times, and decided to try the ultimate class!!!! The full on support lol. My goal is to specifically play a character that would pass Lucian test, so no stealing or killing or none of that.
I've been having fun playing as a Necro/Rouge
Hey if you are having trouble whom ever is scrolling on down... Have 2 summoners and 2 people that can knockdown. Have everyone learn teleport, both heals, throw shield, tactical retreat, cloak and dagger, chloroform, Fortify, Armour of Frost, adrenaline and chicken form. (Have everyone learn Pawn as well) You can tactical jump 2x in a turn to get a weak character away from battle for them to completely heal outside of battle, while 2 champion incarnates lay waste and take all the damage from good positioning. Able to beat 5+ level enemies with this.
New to divinity.. biggest thing i notice is you have to read in this game. If you not reading what..what does then you will have a hard time. Im learning cause honestly idk tf is going on so im force myself to read all the text on the screen to understand what tf is going on and its helping. Nice vid
darmor85 Literally 70% of games need you to read text to understand what’s going on?
pure crit two-hander is a beast in lone wolf!
Awesome! Now I just need the game to stop crashing so I can play.
0:05 Now look at the date, and now cry.
Just bought this game on switch can’t wait to get home and play it
Same, just got it on sale..no idea what Im getting into but I’ve only seen positive comments everywhere..literally just downloaded it an hour ago
Adam D been playing it for a few days now I gotta day I’m pleased so far
I'm getting this on the switch
Just got it!
How does it play
Keep creating new characters and party every time i reach end of Act 2. I really like Fire magic for mages and archery for physical damage. But for efficient parties it requires having same damage type for a party. and having 2 mages for lone wolf means no one could handle my hoarding desires. So i end up going physical for most of my parties.
So we're all waiting eagerly for Baldur's Gate 3.
We know it will be Dungeon's and Dragon's 5th edition, modified to incorporate environmental creativity similar to D:OS2.
So while the the precise effects of abilities can't really be measured at this point, we at least know the classes, archetypes, and their signature abilities/restrictions.
You should do videos preparing folks for BG3 by introducing 5th edition and all the important stuffs about all the classes it has available.
That is a brilliant idea!
Which build you had the must fun on for someone's who is not used to this type of combat system? going to buy this game today
Man there're so many builds I wanna try, but I finished the game once, and on my second run I just got bored because it was the same campaign, and I already tried to do everything on my first run, so the only thing left was completing the other origin characters stories, but it felt like a chore, I wanna try it again real bad but I don't know if I'm going to enjoy it like the first time again.
same, need to try multiplayer; that would be shenanigans!
Blood Mage with Savage sortilege is in my opinion the most damage possible output even more so than a ranger
Personally i have a summoner-necromancer build that is pretty OP and versatile. The only inefficiency is that you can't have more than one summon at a time so you have to use bloated corpse intelligently. But if you start off combat with a supercharged bloated corpse, then spawn a buffed incarnate, after that spend the rest of your turns spamming totems while defending with bone cage, shackles of pain and living on the edge. Combine with undead so you can play-dead if the going gets tough and voila.
is there a video for this?
Wish there were a melee build that utilizes poison, would work well for undead characters
I'm a Necromancer Cleric. I am immortal and love it.
why not both ranged and melee? *laughs in Lone Wolf*
Dex build with Lone wolf is broken...can do literally anything and is invincible 😂
My favorite is fire and earth to make fire everywhere! haha
The crystalline cleric combo decaying touch - cleanse wounds doesn't work anymore in de... Any suggestions how to replace it with something that deals some dmg?
I bought this game a long time ago and atleast 80% of timed played is me in character creation. I find it so difficult to decide what party to form. And with that comes the fact that certain combinations of story characters can mess up each other's story quests and random quests when an NPC needs to be killed. I still haven't actually really played this game so far...
The nice thing about this game is that you get free, unlimited character re-specs once you reach the tail end of Act 1. This makes it pretty easy to test around with builds if you aren't happy with what you have.
@AC84 Sorry for the late reply. But UA-cam wasn't letting me see your full reaction. Thank you very much for your long and thought out response. You tackled my biggest difficulty with this game. Letting go of instant perfect builds that need no changing throughout the game and in that freedom, not fucking up questlines. That part is still tough for me to just accept.
I will take a look at your first team setup since it sounds easier to manage for a newbie. Thank you :)
@@DragonBladeX94 I wasn't aware of the full respec option. That does change a lot! Thank you :)
i was unconsciously building the blazing deepstalker and death knight builds...
never heard of em but i build them anyway xD
Ranged Builds start at 6:43
Your Eternal Warrior build was *the* favorite build of mine...until I discovered the power of the Ornate Chest.
Why so?
What is the power of these hidden chests ??
@@InfamousKiddXD you drop it to someone's head and well... it deals tons of dmg :DDDD
Well i dont like single player RPG games, but i have to say playing this co-op with a friend navigating the wast universe that is Divinity has been pure fun and excitement, it has taken me back to the DnD/Tapletop days but now digital. Well done amazing game.
I just turned of the game and saw this video.
I wish you would make a Witch based build :)
Witch build is right for you!
could you do some of the mod classes and show how to play?
Never had an issue with calculating a build but was curious if this video would have information regarding these 'goodie bag' DLCs that was suppose to drop. We got one and that's it. I read something like five or six was planned somewhere in 2019?
I never got out of the first building to many controls and too much going on maybe I should of given this game a chance
So for a party, I'm thinking a Frost Paladin, Crystaline Cleric, and a Ranger. Which build do you think would have the most synergy?
I've not played divinity yet but I played divine divinity and really want to get into the new game. I really enjoy a Guts build across all rpgs, not a cosplay but a build, meaning a crossbow in offhand and a massive sword in the right hand with an arsenal of gadgets. Are hybrid builds at all possible?
I'm a undead necromancer summoner
I'm an undead necromancer warrior
Since every build is completely broken while u cannot play mixed party it's not about what u want to play it's physical vs magic party and what your ally wants to play or u both will loose fast
Thanks for the overall guide, Fex! I really did enjoy the Death Knight back when the game first released. Is the game still balanced against 3/1 setups (like 3 physical damage dealers, 1 magic and vice versa)? I remember this was the case on launch due to the way the armor system worked.
yes. The way armor works in the game you need either 4 of one type (physical or magic) or mixed of 2 and 2. Least if you want a successful build
@@yb-king_crow4418 that was true before the definitive edition. There's now a talent that allows you to apply many status effects despite armor being present. And armor doesn't completely mitigate vitality damage anymore, it reduces it. That's why so many of Fextralife's builds after definitive edition was released became split damage builds.
Keldor so are you saying these builds are outdated ?
Aero/necro, warfare/geo, hydro/summon, hunt/poly
Why on earth would you not link the build videos! i want to watch more of your stuff but you make it so hard!
