Free to stay is a quite accurate description. I really hate fragmented game loop that require you log in every day running small errands. So I just hoard content for some time then do them all at once - more akin to a single player experience. I really don't care about missing out rewards on side events. The major events with new maps do matter though - they typically last for quite some time.
Genshin feels like an exploration game, more than anything else. There's heavy emphasis on graphics and sound design, but very basic combat and minimized environmental manipulation. It makes it more of a "screenshot/look once, then get bored" type of experience for me - kinda like Hogwarts Legacy. The only thing keeping me on is the promise of better characters/gear, but based on my experiences with other f2p's, once I unlock them, I'll be bored until new grind & new locations for screenshots show up.
It's an "everything" game. You can play for exploration, play for lore/story, play for grind and leveling up characters/weapons, play for collecting(weapons/chars), and also play for CO op(weakest aspect). So it has a bit for every type of player, but it doesn't go in depth in any specific element like some other games would, but those otue games lack the other aspects I mentioned. Like Diablo 2 would go deeper into individual character builds and items, but it has zero exploration or story/lore compared to genshin, and the multiplayer is also severely lacking.
Genshin Impact is a fun "listen to a podcast and grind" type of game. I'm getting back into after almost two years off (adventure level 34 for reference). There is SO much new content that has been released since then, and my team is handling it just fine. There are several 4 stars that are just as good as 5 stars, and you certainly don't need 5 stars to win the story quests and side content. It's mostly about looking cool in Spiral Abyss. There is a good chance of rolling a few 5 stars anyway just from grinding. I've sank maybe $15 total over a hundredish hours of play time to pull a couple interesing looking characters. Money well spent IMHO, but you can play for free and be totally satisfied. However, if you want a more interesting/engaging story w/o the gacha system, just spend $60 on Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, Baldurs Gate 3, or any number of RPGs.
ngl genshin is still one of the good gacha game i've played so far, but sadly there's soo many wasted opportunity that make me reluctant to come back, such as : 1. despite started with good fanservice and pretty character this game held back alot by ccp and sony censorship 2. same as above, the story have so many dark element but it held back by censorship making some storytelling kinda forced just to be passed as 13+ standard 3. despite having fun combat mechanic and co op feature but it's barely explored in endgame, so far we only have stupid abyss to test our combat skill, it would be more fun if there's something like roguelike or raid type endgame content 4. the skin only released like 4 pieces per year is such huge letdown, it should be better considering they have so many official art and colab showing lot of character wearing different type clothes (like noelle kfc for example) 5. they barely touch any QoL update so far, there's lot of thing i considered unpractical, for example like there's no "auto add" feature for lvl ing up your character and weapon, and there's not even warp point straight up to catherine for report our daily quest 6. there's no revisit of older character despite they have so many fan like amber, barbara, lisa, etc,, it would be good if they have 5 star version or some upgraded gameplay 7. teapot is such letdown and wasted of space, it would be better if they just make it smaller scale but focused sandbox minigame like dorm instead of teapot, you can't even interact or making the character interact with the majority of object 8. TCG, why? why making it main event instead of optional? not even everyone play those, and why they focused on TCG when there's so many demand on endgame content in the first place?
I agree with most of these points this game is amazing in its own right, but it has so many things that just kill it for me. I think the last nail in the coffin for me is that stuff like combat is not client sided meaning everything feels laggy if it is laggy, makes boring artifact farming so irritating that I just quit.
@@FullCitris ah yes i forgot to mention artifact RNG, even after 3 years they almost did nothing to remaking artifact system or at least adding feature to make it easier so far they only renewing the exchange artifact list
Wouldn't you be able to say the same about 10+ year running MMOs? I mean if those thousand hours are filled with good content. I mean unless it has PvP and the main focus of the new player is to power house newbs then i would agree.. but to just play casual. Why not?
What are you on about? The hundreds of hours of content is the fun part and reason your playing, there is no end game, no reason to catch up with other players. its mainly single player with no pvp or other competition. You play at your own pace. And just enjoy the content. And if you dont like it, then sure its not for you. But how is it bad that theres a ton of fun content for those who want it???
Lmao I think that's the exact reason why new players can actually start playing. More content for them and they will have more time to have fun in the game. I wish I start later than earlier. So I can take my times going through the game slowly and not rush everything and won't get bored fast. What is your logic my guy o.o
been playing genshin for 1 and a half year now (hardcore player), and i have still lots to uncover, like quests, chests, exploration. Spent couple of bucks here and there, but i must say it's worth my money 😊
0:52 this statement is not entirely accurate, there are tons of 4 stars characters that are extremely good(some are even better than 5 stars), besides the game is not competitive at all so there arent a need to get strong characters, people mostly just get the characters they like. The 5 star characters are also not hard to get, i managed to get 8 limited characters being 100% f2p.
@@suspatrol9550 nope, i wanst lucky at all, i failed 5/8 of my wishing for my target character, my average wish count is not low either, it's about 77 wishes per 5 star
yes but lot of it needs constellation to be relevant which not much different cost to one copy 5 star character, like bennet needs C2, mika needs C6, rosaria needs C6 too maybe idk,
@@erwinmachfudz2088 14/34 of my 4 star characters are all C6 the rest are close to C6 as well, i have to emphasis that i am completely f2p, never spent a dime in this game. Although, i must admit that i did start playing from the launch of the game, so not everyone is as dedicated as me. But the primogems are not as hard to gather as what most people think. you don't need to do much really, most of my exploration is still at 30%, the key is to do all the dailies and most of the events. Also my limit 5 star characters count is now at 11, and I still has 54290 primogems in the bag and 677 star glitter. this goes to show how easy it is to earn primogems as long as you play regularly
We players still wait for the skip button , I have been playing the game since 1.3 but stopped playing it for a bit after 2.5 and the content after 1 month was a lot. And for new players yes it's hard to catch up with the content , and to be able to do a loot of story part the players need to be strong which means grinding for artifacts for weeks and upgrading one character for more mount.
he didn't even talk about the game. he blabbered on about gacha for the first half then quoted opinions from others for the 2nd half nothing about the abyss or elemental combat system or exploration mechanics (STAMINA?)
The GACHA isn't even the main focus, but people still make it sound like it is. Basically, its open world rpg, with good combat system, great graphics and music, mostly focused on casual gameplay. Gacha is party bound to story, bcs new characters are connected with it, so would say 15% of the game is Gacha, rest isn't. People are just gambling machines, that's why.
The only thing that keep me away from Genshin is long boring dialogue. I've played a lot of video games with long dialogue (The Witcher 3, Final Fantasy XIV, Deus Ex, etc) and I have no problem with them at all, but Genshin's dialogue made me wanted to skip most part of the game since it doesn't seems to be interesting.
i understand you but if you stick around. the later stuff get way bette with text bloat. and if anything even with the text bloat i would say the over arching story is still very very good. and the lore is fascinating. i would say give it a go and skip the story dialogue while just understanding the overall story until youre in inazuma. at that point the story really take a turn for the better ... but still have a bunch of text bloat. but in sumeru .... it gets very very interesting and text bloat is reduced greatly. good luck with it if you do try your hand at it!
Cuz it's not interesting, we can already see the end game, the end game won't change, and that is Traveler finally reach his sibling and learn the whole truth. What we're doing right now is like constantly watching filler arcs in Anime. Which we can't skip (literally can't skip dialogue and cutscenes). I too is just waiting to see the end at this point cuz the game play is boring AF.
This game doesn't need strong 5* character from gatcha. The only place you probably need a strong character is spiral abyss. This thing is not connected to genshin at all. You can play all content in genshin impact without ever touching spiral abyss. Everything is easy even for a casual player. Also, if you think the content is too hard for your current party, you can lower the hardness level of the game. This game is lore heavy. Many people like me stay playing because of its story.
kinda agree but that was the problem is, outside abyss the only you got to do is boring exploration with repeated puzzle and enemies, and the combat itself kinda braindead in the open world since you just get unga bunga everything on your way and i agree about the game being lore heavy, but the main problem comes from the storytelling not the lore since they tried too hard just to make it pass chinese 13+ rating which is ended up cringe and forced, and by lore pretty sure lot of people prefer to skimming through youtube video and wiki instead reading big chunk of dialogue
@@Tonyishollow Depends on your liking. - Genshin is an open-world single-player game. you are alone in your world, no other player. (still can coop if you want too. max 4 players). - Tof is an open-world mmo. This means your world is shared with many players. usually, every channel has around 50 players. In many instances/dungeons, you will be forced to be played with other people. according to google, genshin players online at the same time are always around 600k, and average monthly player counts are around 67m. for tof, daily players are around 40k. for reference, monthly player for fortnite is 247m, cod warzone is 76m, overwatch 2 is 26m, valorant is 25m, cs2 is 5m. from my point of view, genshin is better. because for tof, it is hard for new players since you need help to fight boss and dungeon. the problem is most players are already high level so you will have a hard time finding other players. unless you have friends and ask them to help you.
My girlfriend plays it and I serve as her lucky charm for pulls (78% success pull rate so far) and I do want to try it, however once the story is finished or near finished and all regions are unlocked, that way I can fully play it beginning to end.
It's very free Played since day 1, still f2p Around 80 hours of story quest and around 200 hours of side quest, U don't need to gacha because the game is very easy Main reason u might want to gacha is because of how good the story is u will tend to want the character
If you like exploration games and jrpgs, then yes, you absolutely should at least give it a try. It's great. It has one of, if not *the*, best open world out there (and I've played a lot of open worlds). Though brace yourself for a lot of dialogue in good old jrpg fashion. Also... 1/2 of the review is about the monetization... really? You can sum it up easily: the gacha is entirely optional, and although the rates are low, it has pity systems in place making it easy to plan ahead and guarantee what you want. Also, the game will never push you into rolling. No annoying reminders typical to mobile games. No character gated content. No bs. As long as you don't have an addictive personality you'll be fine.
@@ffl989 admittedly I haven't played this one, so I can't fairly compare. But genshin's open world is much better than botw/totk's and elden ring's for example (not comparing the game themselves, just their world and their exploration). And they themselves are much better than most AAA games in that aspect already (think anything ubisoft-like in its approach)
Blud really said one of the best open world games 💀 To say that this game is on par with BotW, rdr2, HZD, W3, Subnautica, GTA, Ghost of Tsushima, AC, Spider-man or Infamous is nothing but an absolute travesty. And these are the games that I can only remember at the top of my head. I’m sure other people can list more
The game's gacha system and combat is very good- the problem i find with the game is the thousands of hours of nonstop boring dialogue that u cant even skip or put on auto mode I would reccomend the game but the last 4 people that i reccomended the game to stopped after 1 month because of the dialogue thing.
because he's just making videos without actually building a brand. other videogames youtuber usually associate themself with either a game or a genre. or if you are a variety streamer/cc, then you gotta use your face and personality to build up a follower This guy on the other hand just aimlessly making videos about what seems like to be just any games that peak his interest and in all categories, from reviews to vlog to interviews to walkthroughs and guides. Warning.... The game is pretty cool when you begin to play it because it looks and sounds very good and the combat system is pretty good. However... Once you get past the whole grind phase of leveling your characters and you've pushed through all the stories and quests (that you are doing more for a completionist point than actually being entertained by it) you are quickly going to find this game dry, boring, stale, and repetitive. This is when Genshin's lunatic fanbase will try to convince you that you are simply burnt out rather than bored to death with a boring game that offers virtually no real gameplay other than wandering around aimlessly on it's map and grinding a repulsively RNG-laden artifact system. Trust me....there are better ACTAUL games to play. I'd suggest even console games. Genshin is not a game. It's a hamster wheel.
I disagree with you. All games will eventually arrive to a point where you will feel it to be 'dry', 'boring', 'stale', or 'repetitive'. I don't think there is any game out there where you will not feel that way after hundreds if not thousands of hours of playtime. If you know of a game like that, then feel free to mention it to me. Genshin for the most part is a good if not great open-world exploration game with it's gacha mechanics and a lack of endgame content being it's downsides. If you enjoy exploring open-worlds and playing a pretty good story, then Genshin is a worthwhile experience. As long as you don't have any gambling addictions, then genshin is a pretty good game to play. The main point of genshin is the journey not the destination. The game is immensely casual - so if this is not your cup of tea then I wouldn't really recommend the game to you. But since it's F2P, trying it out personally and checking if you'll enjoy it is pretty simple. Just avoid paying any money to the gacha.
@@josefpaolo Casual doesn't excuse boring and that's generally my point... All things have a natural cycle and then you MOVE ON. You play a game...beat it...then move on to something else. But Genshin is like a lot of TV shows. Because they make more money of a fans who simply want anything relating to it they'll keep stretching out a worn story till even blind desperation for content is worn thin. This is what Genshin is doing. The story is NOT that interesting- mid at best and very cliche. The combat system, graphics, sound, and overall quality of it's presentation is very good and likely what keeps players in it. But you have nothing to fight. The exploration is not interesting because you're not doing anything but wandering around. The best exploration was in the beginning when everything was new and interesting. I think the first Golden Apple was top-tier. But after 4 regions it's become repetitive. Puzzles, chests, oculuses, and some sort of tree system. I was so worn with this I didn't even bother in the last regional additions of Sumeru. If you notice it's really all about character-hype. But new characters that you'll be doing the same nothing with. But the worse thing is that you can see Genshin's mechanics become increasingly more annoying to deal with. Now in Fontaine you have this Pnuema system that's there simply to incentivize players to pull for new characters since there's barely an real reason to. The underwater mechanic WILL be lame within a months time. The Quality of Life additions are garbage, but people treat it like it's god's gift. I'm just going to warn you again. You're missing out on better games playing this very lame one. I've had more fun replaying old games than playing this game.
How many hours have you put in this game to finally reach this conclusion? Personally, I've spent a couple of hundred hours to come to this realization, but then hundreds of hours of fun out of a game, I'd say the game did pretty well, so I won't be shitting on it now. I left the game for a while and played other good console games, but I still come back to genshin every now, and then. And I'm sure u would do the same if you played the game enough.
@@DarkRavenIII About two years straight with some breaks that didn't last more than two weeks. Problem is there's nothing to play. I've done all the quests. I have leveled all the characters I want to level. Abyss is an hour, at best. There simply is nothing to do except wait on new content that's basically just additional story, circus events, and the same ol' gameplay as before. No thanks.
Genshin impact is difficult to suggest to someone weather they should play it or not. The game is entirely free to play, you can clear the hardest content without spending a dime, the story is good and is constantly being expanded, the combat is fantastic and the characters are all good even the 4 stars which is rare in a gacha game like this. Speaking on the gacha aspects of Genshin, its surprisingly tame all things considered. With a pity of 90 that carries over progress between character banners that instantly makes the gacha system better than almost 99% of most gacha games, on the flip side the currency to actually do any pulls is very expensive, almost ridiculously so, with a 100 wishes costing you 150 Australian dollars and thats with the first time bonus which gives double the gems. Speaking of the gems, Genshin gives you a very good amount, with events giving you around 10 wishes each assuming you do your dailies alongside the event, (because event stuff is time gated, normally taking 4 or 5 days for everything to be available to complete, and you can most definitely farm up enough gems during a character banner to get the character on a banner even if you miss the 50/50. The characters are all fantastic, but levelling them is... A pain to say the least, especially characters that rely on a resource that isn't widely available on the map, (The character Heizou is a good example of this with his onikabuto's), so you'll need to either make alt accounts to farm world materials on or join other players worlds and take from their world. I would say that Genshin is a game best played on a casual level, its fun but the grind can be a pain if you don't know what your getting into, if you don't mind farming for hours and exploring every inch of the game world your going to do just fine though.
This man. I honestly have my best character Diluc and Yoimiya already. Was like ar 40 when I quit. Still feel like playing but man the amount of pain just to LV up characters are too much and the more I learnt about artifacts the more I dreaded playing this game. The only reason I'm consciously avoiding this game and any other gacha games no matter how tempting they look is the grinding. I simply don't have the time nor the self control to just play it casually so I just don't play it. Man I wish I could play the game not care about it.
Honestly, I'm literally just interested in playing as a cute chibi running around doing cute things. Is it worth it to play the game for that single reason? Is it easy to get a chibi character early on?
@@soulbounddoll1826 Sorta depends on luck, chibi sized characters are sorta 50/50 in terms of 5 stars, 3 being 5 stars and 4 being 4 stars. One of the 5 stars Qiqi is a standard banner character so you can pull her pretty much only through dumb luck unless you spend a massive amount of money. At the moment Dori is on the character banners, but you can still pull the other 4 star chibi's off of the character banner but less likely. Overall, eh. Depends on the banner currently on, if a character banner has a chibi sized character on it then yeah fairly easy, if not then not so much.
Bro the strongest characters in Genshin are 4 stars you can buy them from the shop every month, or you get it for free when completing Spiral abyss :) people who think 5 stars are the strongest has a skill issue or don't grasp the combat system that much or don't know how elemental system can interact with each other Simply put the 5 stars are short-cuts and when you get better and better with the game you realize how the 4 stars units that you have is way more versatile and strong :)
70% of the characters you can play with completly different moveset and gameplay are locked behind gambling i know where you come from with that argument, but that sir is not 1% and it more depends an how you wann play the game, do you want characters versitility and more team mechanics to try out you need to throw money at them or play every day for 3 years straight as f2p (like me) im not made for this game but i could still control myself and not throw money at them
Tell that to millions of dead accounts and still counting. Genshin is great for new players and adventure enthusiast alike. But it gets stalled as it goes on. The dialogue isn't as fresh as it gets more into lore over keeping up with earlier quirkiness of paimon at beginning. If you loved lore and story over comedy then it's a yes for you. But a no for a long time players. First it gets stalled with everything is almost the same except for the different region setting and story. High ar players are cold as ice brick. No rewards and initiative to keep you around as it's all needing to digs up from numerous quests around. It's fine for free person but a busy adult would be hard pressed to keep up to enjoy the story since events mainly related to the story. So, it effected the game immersion. Overall good for new players, stalled performance for older players. Opinions are divided but if you asked me the community is what's keeping it alive with fan arts creation making it more enjoyable and relatable.
Personaly I believe that they don't listen ocidental fans, also the game has so many limitations that stuck you for a week or more to build a character. why make a game if you will limit people to play it, doesn't makes sense to me, it's looks only an exploration game, where you will spend a lot of time to find a treasure chest that will give you 5 primogems for the time spent to find it lol. this is ridiculous.
Its bcs it's heavily built around Chinese community. CCP makes mamy limitations, so Mihoyo has to comprehand. The amount of content in late game isn't enough tho. One-two weeks of playing, 4 weeks waiting.
I agree. Yet most Chinese mobile games are doing this and it’s almost mostly well received. Now this model is going outside of China, that’s why I am actually liking genshin but still hate to see it being such success outside of China.
Lol am I really the only one who never spent a single penny on Genshin? And I been playing since 1.3 (it is so weird to me how people make it seem like it is so hard not to spend money) it’s not like you are missing out anything it’s just it takes longer getting a character you want and I don’t mind it (it is not that hard)?
I actually loved the game but since the denro region(forgot the name lol) the story is boring and i already have my 2 teams on lvl 90 so theres not much to do
Genshin impact is a good game overall and a great game in its genre. I dont know why people in the comments are talking about catching up. To whom? Its a very relaxed game that you can come back to anytime and always have content to play , a new area to explore , or a new strategy that has suddenly become viable as the games meta changes. The lore is awesome . Its a well rounded rpg. Its not very combat heavy though.
Wrong. Overall is an average game, and it's a dead, bad and lacking game in its genre, which is gachas. You don't know absolutely anything about genshin nor its genre.
pros: wifus, landscape visuals, wifu cons: it lacks challenge and monsters are midiocre, repetitve, easy to beat, and boring, you'll be stuck killing boring npcs everyday, in order to one day get your wifu 5 star character which you don't really need to beat the game. long hours of dialogue minimal action gameplay. the multiplayer aspect of the game is also very bad. for losers who can't get a girlfriend irl, yes. but for gamers looking for a real game, hell no. 3/10
This review is mid. Does the game need late game challenge except abyss? Definitely. But you reach that Milestone after like 300h of playing and farming. If you are new you will reach it much later, more like around 500h.

The 5 star characters are also not hard to get, i managed to get 8 limited characters being 100% f2p.

Very informative. Especially the deep dive into the monetization. Thank you
he didn't even talk about the game.
he blabbered on about gacha for the first half then quoted opinions from others for the 2nd half
nothing about the abyss or elemental combat system or exploration mechanics (STAMINA?)
With FFXIV are you talking about ARR or post - ARR?
If I could mute paimon, based on what I've seen...then I'll play
This game doesn't need strong 5* character from gatcha. The only place you probably need a strong character is spiral abyss. This thing is not connected to genshin at all. You can play all content in genshin impact without ever touching spiral abyss. Everything is easy even for a casual player. Also, if you think the content is too hard for your current party, you can lower the hardness level of the game. This game is lore heavy. Many people like me stay playing because of its story.
kinda agree but that was the problem is, outside abyss the only you got to do is boring exploration with repeated puzzle and enemies, and the combat itself kinda braindead in the open world since you just get unga bunga everything on your way
and i agree about the game being lore heavy, but the main problem comes from the storytelling not the lore since they tried too hard just to make it pass chinese 13+ rating which is ended up cringe and forced, and by lore pretty sure lot of people prefer to skimming through youtube video and wiki instead reading big chunk of dialogue
What’s better in your opinion, this or tower of fantasy ?

Main reason u might want to gacha is because of how good the story is u will tend to want the character

@@everquestfan yeah and a lot of them seem to be the same unfortunately lol
Yo tell me some better pc alternatives
As somebody with a mild addiction to gacha systems, I see this as an absolute win, time to start on this grind and proceed to hate myself
I wish you the best of luck!@@skyhunter6123
Bro the strongest characters in Genshin are 4 stars you can buy them from the shop every month, or you get it for free when completing Spiral abyss :)
people who think 5 stars are the strongest has a skill issue or don't grasp the combat system that much or don't know how elemental system can interact with each other
Simply put the 5 stars are short-cuts and when you get better and better with the game you realize how the 4 stars units that you have is way more versatile and strong :)
tMost of the critique of genshin is just that people are too weak to not be tempted. it's like 1 percent of the whole game, just don't be weak

Its bcs it's heavily built around Chinese community. CCP makes mamy limitations, so Mihoyo has to comprehand. The amount of content in late game isn't enough tho. One-two weeks of playing, 4 weeks waiting.
