Someone probably said that already, but Yoimya's part in Archon Quest IS her Story Quest, but for some reason it had to be pushed inside the Archon Quest. Same with Ayaka's. I have no idea why they did it that way and i agree that they made early Inazuma arc drag for a while, even though both Yoimiya and Ayaka are nice characters.

I'm so glad you called out the community about doing things "out of order". It's honestly infuriating at this point because I watch so many new players and the chat ends up confusing them more than the game itself. It's understandable since people who have a positive experience naturally have trouble understanding people can have the same positive experience using a different method, but it still frustrates me to no end seeing all the pointless confusion pushed on new players

    • @newbie4789

I think it's mainly because many people are playing this game for a long time and each update is adding new content that has some follow ups of old content. And it does result in some minor Easter eggs or story bits being fed in the wrong order. Like, the world quest in Liyue foreshadowing the existence of Azhdaha is quite pointless after you did the Zhongli story quest 2.
But even though people's reactions make sense, it still doesn't make it acceptable behaviour

Many members of the community are well meaning in the help and "help" they try to provide, but way too many of them also manage to come off as try-hards that couldn't hack it in any other game.
The game is pretty mid, but honestly, the community turned me off of it worse than hitting that point where another newly released character I knew I would bench just didn't do it for me anymore. Any morsel of "wrong" advice to a newbie or criticism towards the game had a legion of insufferable white knights descend on me like they'd actually get to bang Yae Miko if I conceded to their genius.

Maybe this makes me a "fake fan" or whatever in the eyes of these types of players, but I skipped through a lot of dialogue for all the regions until Sumeru and didn't really care about reading the lore stuff like Book of Sun and Moon, cos I'm just not interested in doing that. I play Genshin cos I like the combat system, environments, art direction and music. Everyone has different things they prioritize in the experience, I can only imagine how annoying it must be to have people backseating you about enjoying the game "wrong" lol
Also I'm kinda surprised his problem with artifacts was backseating twitch chatters instead of the insane RNG tied to the system lol. Him beating floor 12 with a scuffed team and unlevelled artis is insane to me lol

    • @boyishdude1234
      @boyishdude1234 7 місяців тому +1

@@bobjones2959 I would say that you're a fake fan, yes. The game definitely has its fair share of problems (it's objectively mid), but the story is a core part of the experience, as the developers put a lot of time and effort into the story and they want players to experience it (the story is the main part of the game, including the world quests). If you're not playing the game for the story, and you're not playing the game for the exploration either (which is the second major part of the experience), then you obviously don't like the core experience of the game, which means that you aren't actually a fan of it. Saying that you're a fan of Genshin Impact when you're not even there for the what the game primarily offers its customers is like saying that someone is a Final Fantasy fan when they're only there for the story and don't care about or even actively despise the gameplay, or like saying that a KH2 fan is a fan of Action RPGs when they think stat management and buildcraft in those types of games, especially at Level 1, is inherently unenjoyable.
By definition, being a fan of something means that you enjoy the core of what a given piece of art/media offers. You can certainly enjoy the combat system, environments, art direction and music, that's perfectly fine, but if you're only playing the game for those parts and aren't playing it for the story, characters and exploration, you're not a fan of Genshin Impact, you just have a few broad preferences that the game scratches the itch of just enough to make you want to play it, even though you otherwise dislike the game. To be a Genshin Impact fan, you have to be there for _Genshin Impact,_ not for yourself.

I still remember back in version... 1.1 ? There was an event in which scaramouche appeared for the first time... in a limited time event...

It's soo annoying. But how do they add these back without making it feel like not playing the events on release is absolutely fine?
And an even bigger issue will be the issue of memory in the phone. The game is having huge struggle keeping the file size low and a big contributing factor is the event files being deletable. I doubt they will change it.

@@newbie4789 they could get around storage by only adding events that are very important to lore with a 60 primo reward for completing it like a story quest would give and events that give a weapon could just give the weapon fully refined automatically. If you do the intoductory quest an then explore an some world queats an then do more main story, inuzami makes alot of sense.
Matter of fact the game itself is hinting at us in various ways that this is what is recommended, play wise.
Weather it be through main story quest mentioning the island being split so you sould be careful if you visit there or the different world quests requrring you to do 3 different things to fix a island, repeadlty, on various islands, 2.0 litterly lanuching with 3 islands, hint hint, or how the uograde system for the statues works in relation to the traveler an his skills for that regions element an how he, or she, always has to do some sort of big story bssed fight as the traveler.
The games always incouraged this type of overall mix of story/exploration/story/exploration/story since the beginning of the game.
The only really big change is interlude in this regard. Well that an a few smaller things. Not inportant though.
An all interlude really dors is present a smaller scale of the overall games story an exploration suggested playstyle.
Me personally i spend way to much time just expkoring lol 😅 an not enough of the storys i could do lol 😂
I need more time in the day lol 😅😅

@@Splatz007 Yep you're right. But playing it as a new player now it's not obvious - the Chasm Archon Quest is locked behind starting the world quest, but there's nothing in the game telling you to go explore Tsurumi after Raiden's two quests, or to go down into Enkanomiya after Tsurumi.
The game has a specific pacing with content releases, but once released the game isn't interested in handholding you... Genshin could really use a sort of in-game quest roadmap.
Inazuma's lore and worldbuilding really is beautiful. Raiden's story has nothing on Ruu and Kazari, and I'm still attached to Neko, Enjo and Aberaku... I'm glad they figured out a more accessible way to present it for Sumeru though.

I feel Inazuma's weaknesses are more apparent in retrospect, now that players can play through in one go rather than wait for the updates (and streamers are usually in a hurry on camera and want big chunks of story progress), and that some of them weren't apparent to the designers either until this point due to it's being hard to tell ahead of time what would make it in. For example, allied NPCs would have been very useful for a civil war - but they just weren't available yet although it looks like that's the reason why we have a few in Sumeru despite there being no great reason to push for that engine feature at that point - some of the work was already done.
The basic issue was the contradictory needs of pacing, which the writing did take a stab at and which I feel does succeed at fitting together even though this makes it subvert player anticipations. Once reaching Inazuma there's a driving need to slow the plot down: there's a land as steeped in history as Liyue and with less land mass to explore and a lot of people to meet. However, there's a civil war going on, which seems to indicate a need to speed the plot up. The immediate way to reconcile this is to make it clear the protagonist doesn't care about the local plotline. While this does make sense, not everybody has spent the time going through their character pages and has realized they really do have personalities (differing, even) and their own goals and desires... and honestly, even for somebody who had it was still a touch jarring. Making it viscerally clear the Land of Lightning does not appreciate being just casually traversed also either helps or instead annoys people who have plans to Finish this Quest Now and aren't going to adjust them.
The less immediate fix was to keep most of the civil war pretty off-camera, which if you're focused entirely on that single plotline will make it feel like it goes by far too quickly. This ties in to the final reconciliation of these needs, which was to ensure that even in-game the civil war was being carefully paced out by a third party. In terms of everything fitting together in the long run, this makes perfect sense: future events made it clear the Fatui have a long history influencing Inazuma, even if most of that influence doesn't seem to have been with the specific goal of setting this up. And in retrospect, it makes total sense that until the Fatui are through there - which coincides neatly with your entrance into the arena - nobody is going to be winning. And it also makes sense that as this is a war where the people in charge of both sides want to keep everybody alive more than they want to push through a quick victory (and they've got better battlefield medicine than the real world), there's a semblance of peacetime on Narukami Island. The people have enough other things to worry about that it's mostly the family members of soldiers who pay attention to the war. And it's not like the main character doesn't get to resolve the real issues even if for a change the populace doesn't notice this. It's not a bad plotline - but it's nowhere near what people expected going in, probably by design although it's hard to tell from the outside what just didn't make it in the development time.
I'm more content with Kokomi's presentation although I feel there isn't quite enough tell. The basic concept behind her is very clearly one we've seen tried later in Honkai Star Rail: that actual strategic competence is displayed not in a brilliant and unexpected maneuver but in the total lack of need for any such. She's also a change from most of the smart people in the game in that she's entirely open with you about what she knows and is doing. (Nahida's kind of a callback to this in that while she still doesn't always share, she's theoretically keeping tabs on you and would certainly share if you actually needed the information and were messing with something that was definitely your business.) And this isn't a bad idea concept if it does mean somebody has to get lucky for interesting things to happen where Kokomi's involved. The one bit of "tell" I think we really did need at the start was any hint of her long-term goals - or lack of them beyond playing the role the people wanted her to - because it's the only way to put what we do see of her strategy in context.

Amazing video man! You really highlighted every issue I had with this game and most important was the artifact grinding problem. People always argue with each other about how much time you should spend on grinding these items and took literal months to get me "perfect" artifacts that people wouldn't call mid, but it is really just fine if you got something just OK.
for perspective I've been playing for 2 years now and started playing since release, I've seen every issue there is to offer and took a lot of breaks during the way because the game just isn't fun for too long. But I agree that the game shouldn't be gating lore through limited events and people shouldn't be backseating on how you enjoy the story. I was actually half expecting you to fail at beating the abyss but you did pull through, and for that I give you props!

Yup, you're pretty much right when it comes to Artifacts. I have the same mentality: an Artifact is either good, with at least 3 good substats for the proper mainstat, or COPIUM. The thing is, because of the RNG, you wanna have as many good substats as possible in the event that some rolls miss the one you want. Then it's at least usable. I think you'll eventually become like this as well if you keep playing the game or Star Rail. Still, while in the beginning there might be a lot of frustration, as time goes on, you'll become kinda numb to how shit the RNG is. At the end of the day, it is what it is. At least you don't have to min-max for the story.

Once you notice that characters can't seem to say the words "kill", "die", "murder" etc. in the earlier chapters of Genshin you can already see it has a more "family friendly" tone to it. Even though I prefer more complex and darker themes, this tone didn't ruin my enjoyment of the game at all. Paimon is what pushes this over the edge for me and makes me feel like I'm playing an episode of Dora the Explorer. To sum up why Paimon genuinely ruins Genshin's story for me. She has redeeming qualities such as caring about the Traveller, stands up for what is right and she sometimes works well as a comedic relief, but she has these qualities in such extremes they are also annoying character traits.
    1. She is OBSESSED with the Traveller, to the point where she hates if the Traveller wants to be away from her even for a short amount of time like with Xiao.
    2. She likes to stand up for what is right, but has no sense of timing. There are multiple instances of her jumping the gun and making things more difficult because she is too eager to jump into evil-busting, and she NEVER learns.
    3. Her comedic relief isn't always effective and instead spoils the tone of Genshin's more serious and solemn moments. Honkai: Star Rail showed to me the impact that Hoyoverse's more serious scenes can have. After witnessing the quest about the man who lost his family and basically worked himself to death to provide supplies to Natasha's clinic, it made me wonder how much less impactful it would be if Paimon popped out at the end and went "Oh no! Is he gone?! Now I'm all sad...".

great video and it kind of takes me back to when i started genshin a year ago. The problem is (and probably why u saw so much backseating with the highest degree on snob) in your chat was that the difference of DPS between 33 stars in abyss and 36 stars is the same amount of time sink (if not more if u are truly unlucky) as completing spiral abyss in general. Since its the only form of endgame content genshin has, the standards for artifacts and characters and weapons are really unneccasserily high because people want to avoid the quadruple gatcha balancing that is Artifacts, Character and weapon summoning AND the fickle mistress that is Fortuna who always makes me miss my Crits whenever i do a burst (80% chance my ass).
in the end, yeah its easy to have fun in genshin but the fomo for characters and weapons is what pushes people into minmaxing for abyss, to get all the primos u can as a F2P, to not get caught in FOMO.

The true f2p endgame is consistently trying to do a 36* abyss for those measly extra 50 primos instead of just doing a 33* clear. It's doable even against Wenut abyss in my f2p acc but it sure is challenging and time-consuming, granted I've been playing the acc since day 1 release.

(I mean, I did get Ayaka just to farm Crimson Witch for my Hu Tao lol) Some of the characters I like are meta, some aren’t, I literally swore off using Bennett and Xiangling because of they were meta. Well, I might use Bennett when I get his C6 since meta players say “it’ll ruin your account forever, you’d be better off just making another one!” And it would be fun to see them get soo angry.

I love Genshin as a whole, however if anything, the ideology of not able to do a quest or event because certain character(s) are locked in another quest felt rather irritating to my perspective.
I get it it's for the sake of realism, however it bothers me sometime for instance; I wanted to do 3.6 Interdashan main event which involves many characters, however I couldn't start it because some characters were locked in another quest which took me about 3 hours in total to finish to even start the main event.
I wish they allow characters to be available in multiple quests simultaneously without being locked in.

If you're having fun playing the way you want, then that's how you should play it! It feels like people get caught up in some of the only content that's rapidly made by Genshin content creators, which is optimizing builds and meta teams each patch and tier lists. It feels like people take that content and think, "That's just the correct way to play the game!" Then there's creators like Cwack on Crack who just make funny videos with very, very off meta builds and just has fun with making funny numbers from funny ideas, then again, they do seem to be a whale and can get away with it, but it's still fun to watch.

I feel like beating Spiral Abyss comes down to perspective. Because although it's great you beat it with your teams. Getting all 3 stars is primarily what people go for because that's the bar the game has set and that's what gets you the full amount of primogems. To me personally, that's what beating the 12th floor is (not to take away from your own victory of beating it in general). It's a huge DPS check that artifacts alone can't be enough to carry you if you're going for 3 stars. There are a few factors, like knowing the enemies you'll face, their weaknesses and the comps to build against them. Or just having an absolutely whaled account.

I have been playing since release, and in this current abyss, I can mainly finish it with around 7-8 stars. I have to alter my teams, for the first time I ........ I........... I stopped playing Childe Xiangling Suckrose Xingqiu. In order to 36* comfortably (without having to play floor 1 perfectly or reset for 5 hours+)

I will say right now that as someone at max AR, my one major flaw with Genshin is the fact that sometimes getting to play a certain character can feel like a major grind on Artefacts and Materials. For example, I pulled for Kaveh and Baizhu, and I got them, but now I feel like I'm not allowed to play them until theyre giga maxed because everything has so much HP and so much damage.
It really is a minor problem, but as someone who just wants to see cool characters doing their thing, knowing there is not a single place I can safely play some of my characters is a bit sad.
That being said, there are just a few minor things that may get fixed down the line, or will be fixed in some other ways.
#1: Albedo isn't a standard banner 5 Star. (WE NEED GEO 5 STARS ON STANDARD PLEASE!)
#2: All characters must be "nice". (So far Wanderer is the only non friendly character we have that is playable, but even still they went out of their way to sort of yassify him without doing much of the actual building back of trust.)
#3: Physical and Geo just suck right now. (Most enemies have resistance to these two damage types, but atleast you can fight Eremites. Also Shatter sucks. Geo desperately needs new reactions instead of "get a shield" since you aren't playing Geo for the crystalize.)
#4: Ningguang got shafted so hard why is every Geo character Defense scaling leaving Ningguang with no good supports or carry potential compared to even Noelle. 😭

Thanks for your video, that's pretty much exactly what I think. I've been playing since day 1, haven't missed a day yet. I am so glad to have experienced the events around Albedo or 1.1 with Fischl, Mona and Scaramouche, especially Golden Apple Archipelago.
But Abyss is my personal "horror". I don't like it and do only the most necessary every 2 weeks: 1 run with a team I just feel like and "mid" artifacts. As if I can help it that my characters run around with a lot of extra DEF or HP. 😅 The 33+ stars I get regularly are enough for me. Sometimes it's enough for 36, but I don't want to make more than one run. Meta players don't like that, but I can live with it.
The most important thing for me is: I have fun with the game and I can recommend that to others. A game should entertain me and please me. Genshin does that very well outside of the Abyss (as long as I don't have to farm artifacts). And honestly, without the Primos, 90% of players wouldn't do Abyss anyway. 😊
Fun Fact: I don't like Hu Tao's playstyle either (because i'm too dump to dodge) and my first 5-star in the first 10 pulls was also Diluc + Bennett.

Artifacts and more powerful things don’t get you more stars in Spiral abyss. Sure it helps but still to reach the time limit you have to play *way* better. Better understanding of buff set ups, learning enemy patterns, and team rotations. Even with amazing artifacts and stats, some people still cant even get all stars with meta characters because they just suck. Speaking from a person that got 9 stars every floor for very long. People usually don’t care if you don’t beat the abyss without perfect stars. Getting all stars is the real challenge the community sees. And trust me trying to get stars in the abyss is not as easy as just beating it with no stars.

    • @Melotaku
      @Melotaku Рік тому

You’re not entirely wrong but you aren’t right either.
The skills needed to do what Necrit did vs getting all stars are different.
To get all stars you need to be good at rotations and buff setups and team building etc. but to finish abyss with crap artifacts and non-meta teams, you need to be good at dodging, knowing when to attack the enemy and when to back off etc.
In my opinion, the latter is more of an engaging and fun challenge. While the former is just a dps check. Those just aren’t fun for me. For many meta teams you don’t even need to worry about dodging because either you have an OP shield, a freeze team, a team that staggers the enemies so much that they can’t attack, or you just have C6 R5 everyone and tank the damage because everything dies so fast.

As a long time Necrit fan from his League content, and now frequent watcher of his Genshin streams, I've honestly been feeling kind of burnt by his recent story and archon quest streams. I'm thankful to him for having made that really amazing and thorough 50 minute Genshin first impressions/review video that turned lots of heads and got lots more people to give the game a chance. But when it comes to Necrit himself, it truly feels like he has absolutely no respect for the storytelling and lore of this game.
It's such a gratifying experience to watch someone who has misinformed/negative preconceived notions about the game have all of those thoughts crumble before them as they play Genshin and realize they are genuinely enjoying their time playing and thoroughly immersing themselves in the rich and beautiful world, lore, music, and just sheer artistry of the game. And the first few streams when he was brand new actually genuinely were like this! But Necrit's more recent story streams hardly provide that experience anymore for the Genshin audience he cultivated that tripled his viewership from his TFT days. From his constant bickering and talking over dialogue to make flippant and dismissive predictions of what’s going to happen instead of just... listening to the story, to his frequent misinterpretation and confusion about the most basic of lore and story plots that have been presented to him in the main story (not even hidden or deep lore that he has to go out of his way to find, actual main story stuff that is directly stated). It's quite an exhausting experience.
It feels like there's only been two times he's ever actually been invested/paying attention to the story, once during the end of the Inazuma archon quest, and once during the beginning of the Sumeru archon quest. Almost every other time during story quests, world quests, or other lore heavy moments, it's like he's not paying attention at all. As a result he constantly misses key points in the dialogue that were said a sentence or two ago, or seems to “forget” things he literally just heard. He also for some reason refuses to learn how certain names in the game are pronounced? It’s one thing to come up with cute or endearing nicknames for characters, but it feels different when it seems like willful ignorance or outright refusal to learn, even when it’s read aloud in dialogue. It’s genuinely hard to tell sometimes if he actually even knows the names of important characters and just says them wrong as a joke, or if he just sees a foreign name and instantly dubs it the first thing that comes to mind without even trying, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt since he is dyslexic. Feels like that’s all the more reason for him to take the time to make sure he understands things thoroughly though, because all that does is further distance himself from the lore and increase his detachment from everything. And don't even get me started on his insistence to "break" the game by glitching out of domains or climbing through invisible walls with geo traveler. Look, I get it, he's a game developer too so he wants to see how they coded or modeled the walls by seeing if he can glitch out. And because he feels like he "can" break the game, he "has to". It truly just feels disrespectful, not even towards the developers but to the viewing audience, who have to sit there and watch him try time and time again to break the game in unintended ways instead of experiencing the story normally. Well, I guess they don't have to, they can just stop watching if they don't like it, but that's not really an ideal situation for him or the viewers really.
I personally want to watch Necrit having a good experience playing Genshin, which he claims he is, and that's great! I'm glad he's having fun and enjoying one of my favorite games as well in his own way. But my God is it frustrating for actual lore enthusiasts and story enjoyers who expected the self-proclaimed "Lorewalker" to give this game's lore a little bit more of a fair shake. When his streams are titled with variations of “exploring lore”, it kind of gives off the impression of “lore guy does Genshin”, but it doesn’t feel as though Necrit brings a critical lore eye to the game at all. And he doesn’t have to, of course, it’s just misleading and frustrating as a viewer. That's why I was honestly floored by one of Zepla's past videos where she talked about how amazed she was by Sumeru's writing quality and her subsequent Genshin streams. She displayed such an incredible grasp and understanding of not just the lore and story but its symbolism and allegory that I expected Necrit to have, but he just simply doesn't. Frankly, his lore knowledge is absolutely dismal for someone who has played 700 hours and "beat" the game. At first, Necrit's streams had me convinced that not reading the lore books and digging deep to see how much care and detail is put into pretty much everything was a huge detriment to understanding and appreciating the story fully, because he was constantly missing key details, having things go over his head, and assuming things that weren't there or simply false. And then Zepla taught me that you can truly understand and appreciate a large chunk of the story effectively without doing any of that, you literally just need to pay attention and not be so dismissive. You could truly tell how much investment she had in everything from the way she was internalizing every detail and connecting it all together to see the big picture. A little bit of suspension of disbelief goes a long way, but it also helps when you get emotionally invested in the characters and story itself as much as she has, which can really only be done if you're actually paying attention.
I know I'm not the only one who feels this way too, as I've seen lots of other people vent their frustrations about Necrit's approach to Genshin in both his and Zepla's discords and even reddit. I don't expect him to become a super Genshin deep lore streamer/youtuber like the likes of Ashikai, IslandXD, Chill With Aster, KlemenTime, etc. That was never his intention in the first place and that's fine, he’s just here for the memes and to see what the game’s all about. To him it's just a casual fun game to spend some time on. I just wish that as someone who knows how good lore from games like League can get, he'd come at Genshin with that same energy, especially since (imo) Genshin's lore and worldbuilding goes waaay harder, and I truly feel like if he genuinely dug into it, he would enjoy the heck out of it. All I can hope for is that he gains a more invested and respectful approach to the game’s lore and story for more enjoyable story content streams in the future.

Yeah honestly I agree with this.
It feels weird to me, because I heard of him through a friend who watches his videos and thought that I would enjoy his Genshin streams since he's known as a pretty big lore youtuber in the LoL community. And I was definetely not dissapointed because I found his reactions and the videos he's made on the game so far to be really interesting!
But I also feel like he hasn't even scratched the surface of Genshin Lore. I mean, for example, Zepla read "Before Sun & Moon" in a stream, and seeing her reaction was so interesting because she immediately started making theories and such. She made an comment about how "is the Sun and Moon fake?" And then when she finished the Sumeru Archon Quest and Dottore mentioned the "Sky is fake" ordeal she was immediately super surprised and trying to connect everything together, which was very entertaining to watch.
Granted, Genshin lore is very very complicated, and it's difficult to get into because of the way it's presented, and I'm not talking about things such as artifact lore and such, but even side quests make it different to understand. For example in the "Dirge of Bilqis" world quest they mention the name "Nabu Malikata" a lot. Lore players might be able to figure out from the description of this person/goddess that it's the Goddess of Flowers. But like, players that don't really pay attention too much will get very confused to who this might be.
But still, I feel like although the dialogue can be drawn out or some parts very difficult to understand, he really has grasped so little of the lore. I don't even think he has done stuff with Albedo's quest, or if he even knows who Rhinedottir and such is. Hell, I'll be surprised if he manages to figure out if that "Golden Nara" = our sibling, or that the hidden door you find in the undeground while doing the Pari quest is the door to Khaenri'ah.

True, but also, the abys gets harder and harder over time. I remember 36 starring the 1.2 abys with a team that was around the power level of his one if not even worse.

@@pontoancora I beat abyss f12 at AR 25 and yes, it's pay to win and it will likely continue to be so as they design the highest floors with the newest banner characters in mind.

congrats beating spiral abyss, everything you mentioned here I agree. On artifact section, there are some people trolling or clueless just that two, because you check artifact good or not depend on what do you have first, if upgrade means good.
