hands down the best yak angler I have ever seen!! thank you so much for always being so peaceful and respectful to the fish and environment. I really really appreciate that you take the time to tell us your set up on every trip of yours, I have learned so much about river fishing from you. Nothing but love from Colorado!!! Tyler
I agree with everything you said, so nice to watch peaceful and respectful people that are great at what they do. He's not out here faking his excitement or downplaying it either like some youtubers (most of them). Just seems like a genuine guy. I sure wish we had Colorado bass fishing like they do up in MN/ND. I don't know about you but Colorado fishing seems much more difficult than what I see most doing in the midwest/south.
@@jlrosine agreed my friend. Chatfield has a good amount of smallies around the boat launch areas closest to the dam. You can also check out Harriman res as well for small mouth. Quincy res has quite a few decent large mouths and trout. Aurora res is tough sometimes it’s so deep and big I just haven’t spent enough time there. Rocky Mountain Arsenal is where I caught my PB of 5.1 pounds large mouth in the larger section of lake mary. The gravel ponds used to be good but now you can only fish one of them. Also Johnson reservoir has a lot of wiper in it!
Thank you for taking me with you on a great fishing excursion. I caught my first kayak bass last week. I am seventy years old, and just retired. I am striving to be as good a 'yak angler as you are, my good man. Love your channel!
Enjoy it. There's nothing like it. Last Monday I took my 82yr old dad out in a 15ft KaBoat and he saw me doing my amateur impression of this yak angler and he was amazed. He said "How are you doing that? I'm right next to you and you got 2 and I got none?" Nothing like top water action. Hope you got a good heart! Mine stopped several times that day on every strike.
@@XxsteamerxX I hope early fall rains do not ruin my late summer fishing. I have learned that I actually love being in the kayak. Now I need to learn to catch them all!

Hey Matt, congrats on the baby! The first year was the toughest for us, especially the first 3 months, as ours seemed like she was always crying and never sleeping... and we were just drained for about a year. If you're having any dark times, doubts, or missing your freedom, trust me, it gets waaay better. Mine is 2.5 years old I couldn't imagine a life without her. She is beyond wonderful. It's like anything in life... the more you put into it, the more you get out of it. A small example: mine has become my tiny fishing advocate and often convinces my wife for us to go fishing lol. So despite all the crying, pooping, not being able to do anything, I really do mean congrats... you're at the start of a long relationship with the most special person of your life.
Thanks Tim! Ours will sleep through the night at least but during the day we can’t put her down for more than a minute or two. She requires constant attention so it’s tough getting anything else done. When I finally get a day I can get out and fish I’m exhausted and can’t focus on what I’m doing. I had high hopes for this season but a video or two a month won’t cut it for someone trying to make a living off UA-cam. I love my baby girl though, if I end up having to give this up for her that’s what I’ll do.
@@ndyakangler It will get better my friend and your true fans will certainly understand. A few (hopefully helpful) unsolicited suggestions: 1) Once she gets to the point where you can set her down for a few mins at a time, consider having the grandparents watch her for a few days, hit up as many nearby lakes as you can for change of scenery and raw footage, then just edit as you are able over weeks and months. Your videos are very nature-centered and even the ones where you dont catch many fish are amazing to watch for a person stuck at home. 2) consider opening a patreon to help with the bills. Babies are expensive and I, and I'm sure others, would be happy to donate as we're able.
@@ndyakangler how has it been since this time I would like an update, as I myself have a 3 mo old girl and I can’t wait for her to get old enough to go out with me.
Such encouragement, I’m in the same situation as we speak, 3 mo old baby girl but I leave a lot on the ladies. (My mom her mom and my wife.) I spend time but I still get my rest and still fish every chance I get as that’s my only thing I do for myself.
What did that little baby smallie (@17:20) think he was going to do with that snake lure once he "caught" it anyway!? Lmao! I was amazed at the size of that baby! I had to pause the video just to gaze at him! Such a little bitty baby smallie! Never saw something so cute in all my life! 🥰 I love your videos Matt. And when you said your baby girl was 3 months already, I couldn't believe how fast the time has gone by! Great video today. Really enjoyed coming along with you. Thanks for sharing your beautiful life. 😃👍😎
Same. I'm just learning. All my life I've wanted to be this guy. I used to watch Bill Dance and those OLN fishing shows and never got anywhere with their "tips". Couple years ago, I found his channel on a fluke when my wife and Dad was in the hospital on the same day for different surgeries. I was running up and down the floors to see em both. Spent a few days there. It was getting a little overwhelming so I started looking for something to watch to calm me down while I sat by their bedsides. I remember thinking, this guy catches a trophy every second! I went home, bought a kayak from amazon in October. Spent the winter kitting it out. Tried it out the next spring, got a little squirrely on the maiden voyage. I almost gave up. But I made some corrections and this summer my journey began. My first time out, the wind blew me into some trees and my lines got all caught up in it. I went home. 2nd time I took a little 2 man john boat with my son. Wind blew us around and didn't catch anything. Third time out, took the yak again. I caught more bass and the largest pike EVER in my life. Still very much green. But just watching and learning from the NDYakAngler, and I am MILES ahead of where I was the first 40 years of my life.
Good video Matt. Glad to hear you're getting to spend some quality dad time with your little angel! In my opinion it was worth the two week wait for this video!
After almost a year of watching your videos I finally got to go up to my grandpa's place in Wisconsin and tried bass fishing from a kayak. I used a lot of techniques I learned from watching you, had an absolute blast, and even caught my personal best, which was real similar to your fish you caught at 16:00.
