That game was REALLY exemplary. And it arrived in similar form as games like Jedi Outcast, Tomb Raider 2, Tron 2.0, NOLF2, etc. And at the very least, the V.O. actors all did a pretty great job with their roles.
Honestly this game’s combat was absolutely wild. I remember beating the hell out of the mercenaries in the jungle and Prague with it’s gorgeous atmosphere only for the Chinese mobsters to absolutely decimate me with their Kung Fu a couple missions later. Indy having an Asian QT gf is just the cherry on top of this delicious retro sundae.
Love your style man! This game was my jam, as someone whos been the biggest Indy fan since he was 3 ( I used to the sit on the arm rests of my couch as a 4 year old and ride along with Indy into the sunset while watching Last Crusade). This game brings up so many beautiful memories of going home on a friday night from school, getting pizza with my dad, and playing while he admiringly watched. Thanks for understanding that its a masterpiece. Although, gotta say, Fate of Atlantis from an immersion standpoint is phenomenal. It may be hard to solve some of the puzzles, but its the most Indy a game has ever been. I do agree though, if you're sleepy it can be like prozac.
I never played this game before. I got into the PS2 console towards the end of its life cycle when I was little, I need to go back and visit this for myself I'm getting into Indiana Jones more I wanted to visit some of its expanded material outside of the films
Fate of Atlantis is a masterfully crafted game, i tried it once and got bored but when I ran out of indiana Jones games to play I played Fate of Atlantis on my phone and dude it was so good it got me into point and clicks
Great video, love the funny clips you put in as well. Loved the video, great work keep it up and your gonna have a bright future here on youtube with your videos. Looking forward to more videos.
It may have been because I was young but I always remembered that goat man room puzzle to be so difficult. The fact that I was able to figure it out without youtube or google back in the day is amazing lol
The last truly great Indiana Jones game (barring LEGO Indy). Such a fun and immersive game from a time when games were still fun made with care and passion.
Own this game on the original Xbox, which looks & runs great on my modern Xbox Series X thru backwards-compatìbility. Wish the new Indiana Jones game for modern consoles played more like this, just w/more puzzle solving & stealth. Something like the newer Tomb Raider games. I feel like on the Great Circle, going mainly 1st person w/3rd person moments, was a mistake. Instead, it should've been the other way around. Traversal, stealth & combat should've been in 3rd, w/inspection & puzzle solving be in 1st.
To be honest I did not overlook this game as a kid. Played it a lot and loved it. Got Stuck on the kraken level and did not know how to beat it and those damn jelly fish that pull you closer to the kraken... But as soon as I found out you need to shot the eyes and finally beat it it was amazing. Never felt quite like that in gaming again to be honest. However a game which I think is overlooked is Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine (on PC in my case). That game I played even more. The controls however are not modern and take some getting use to now. Also it can take a little bit of effort to get to work. There are however fixes for that out there. It did however make an impact on me in gaming.
Overlooked? Underappreciated? Only insofar as the entire Indiana Jones franchise seems to be overlooked and underappreciated these days. I grew up with the movies, and Emperor's Tomb is widely known as the best Indy game ever made, within the fanbase and really anyone who ever tried to enjoy an Indy game before it. Infernal Machine was not well received as an early platformer, though it's somewhat charming now, and the only games that were liked were the Lucasarts adventure games, which were all story and puzzle solving, barely any action. The SNES had a Super Star Wars style trilogy game that somewhat realized the action and fun of the movies, but in very limited and very altered ways. Temple of Doom was a beloved arcade classic, though its depth is limited as a one button game with one hit deaths. Emperor's Tomb was very well known as the first real Indy game that felt at all like the movies, and while it doesn't directly replicate any scene from them, many scenes and major sets have parallels in the game. It's as if you threw all the movies into a blender, in the best way. It's the first to feature a genuinely fun combat system, real time jumping and whip swinging in 3D, and I have to say the voice actor did a really good job capturing the character, a role I have taken on myself when I adapted some of the old Indy comics to celebrate the release of Dial of Destiny. The response to that movie was very split, the Indy fans loved it and general audiences couldn't have cared less, but maybe once they've had a chance to live with the character and all his media for decades and grown up a bit themselves, they can appreciate the respectful end we got to the series. The movies were my pathway to loving Indy, but if the games were yours that's fine too. His appeal spans many mediums and generations, and all walks of life. The spirit of adventure is at the core of humanity, and if adventure has a name, it is Indiana Jones.
@@leninswalrusYeah, I'm pretty sure that FoA is the one that is widely thought to be the best. I personally think that FoA, IM, and ET all bring something new to the table. FoA is such a beautiful game, I recently played it on Steam Deck with touch and it makes this game even more immersive. I love IM's level design and the shear number of artifacts and secrets. And ET has the best soundtrack, which works seemlessly with what's on screen. Really all three are such a treat to an Indy fan. And now we also have the Great Circle, finally a great original Indiana Jones game in 21 years! ❤
Highly recommend the young Indiana Jones chronicles, you get to see Indy as a kid and teenager fight in WW1 fights a vampire (no not joking) look for ancient artifacts it's really good
@@StrifeMedia yeah they where Great I got the box set on eBay for like £20..Great video and liked the editing you definitely deserve more subs and you got one from me💪🏻
You should review The Collective’s other games! Like Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Revenge of The Sith. That studio was on a roll with underrated classics back in the day.
I played Revenge of the Sith back in the day but never got around to playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'll need to look into that one at some point. Thanks!
I saw video of someone doing it on Xbox. I don't remember how I did it--I suppose it was a happy little accident. I've heard some people complain about the combat, but I don't think they know how to play the game, lol.
It on Xbox and it backwards compatible with series x/s but for some reason not available to buy anymore on the Xbox store, probably got delisted but I own it and can play it
Machine Games focuses on First Person type games. It might’ve been bad if they went Third Person Uncharted style with it. Luckily, it’s getting glowing reviews and might be one of the best games in the franchise.
I feel like almost no one, especially Indy fans, rarely ever mention Emperor's Tomb when discussing Indiana Jones games. To me, it is PEAK Indiana Jones gaming (have yet to play Great Circle, but it looks solid). Infernal Machine was the first Indy game I ever owned (Santa Clause sadly did NOT respond to my letter I wrote him back in xmas of 1994 for a copy of Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures on SNES, as well as an SNES console!) and it nailed everything that was expected at that time for a 3D Indy videogame. But then Emperor's Tomb came about and pretty much amplified everything ten-fold. Was it perfect? No, there were definitely bugs/glitches. But if you were someone who played Infernal Machine religiously like I did, you CAN'T tell me your jaw didn't drop when you saw what the whip mechanics were like in Emperor's Tomb. The time spent in IM digging your whip out of the inventory, lining up Indy to properly face the beam you needed to whip, and sitting through the damn whip swinging animation with the Indy theme jingle (or climbing up the whip), only for ET to come along and streamline that entire process into a single fluid action (I'm sure many of you are having nightmare flashbacks to the mine drilling car chase sequence in ET lol).
At times this game is more of an adaption of the matinee serials, Doc Savage and Alan Quatermain stories than the Indy films themselves. Immense charm. Enjoyed it more than Great Circle.
Played it on GOG and lasted about 10 minutes before rage quitting cause the controls were possibly the worst I've ever seen in a game also the audio cut in and out and barley worked for me. I think it was overlooked for a reason
😃 I always hear how terrible Indiana Jones games are and have been so surprised that no one ever talks about this one!!! When my Dad went to prison, I went to his GF house and stole his Xbox, and he had this game. It immediately became my favorite game on the console. I thought it was right up there with Halo and Spiderman.
REMEMBER THIS THOUGH the DEMO WAS WAY BETTER the FULL GAME HAD UNSYNCH AUDIO .ETC... THE DEMO WAS MORE FINISHED THEN THE GAME most likely because it came AFTER THE FULL GAME WAS FINISHED i will never forgive them for this
As someone who has been Indiana Jones obsessed since I was literally 3… as someone who has an insanely large Indiana Jones collection and multiple screen accurate sets of gear… Nah. Emperor’s Tomb is a mess. One of the lesser Indy games.
I played TF out of this game as a kid and absolutely loved it. I still play it to this day. Love the atmosphere and sound effects
The physical edition of the game belongs in the museum
I bet all you do is play video games as a grown man don’t you.
The game that made me an Indiana Jones fan. I LOVE INDY!
I’m super excited for Great Circle.

very nice editing

3rd person games aren’t their thing man. It makes sense for the kind of game they’re trying to do. An immersive-sim that puts you in Indy’s shoes.
