@fisheatrepeat cool, biltong is super easy, just did some cold smoked trout as well which turned out great. I'll see how this hunting spot turns out and maybe we can do a trip down. I know plenty of good trout spots on the way too.
cool to see bro, I've lived in wanganui my whole life (28 years) and never had the opportunity to go hunting here or anywhere at all. meat prices are too much these days. I've been fishing for food 4 times in the last month and caught nothing aside from a few herrings
@massivechicken4099 thanks for watching mate!! Ohhh what true? Whanganui has EPIC hunting there's SO MANY goats down there too (which taste delicious!!) It's NEVER to late to start hunting bro. NZ genuinely has some of the easiest hunting in the world. Very limited restrictions, no tags, or seasons (for most game) and we can bow hunt down to a 35lb bow. If you're interested go see ya local NZ deer association and they'll see you right. 🤙 I can't quite put hunting into words. But it's not just about the money savings (and it costs a bit to invest into to start too) but getting your own kai from the whenua (land) you can't put a price on it eh. It's just so good for your mental and physical health. Pm me on insta or fb if ya want any info or advice im still a rookie hunter myself but was brought up hunting.
@massivechicken4099 Also Bummer about fishing tho, have ya tried drone fishing? It can make hard work easy eh. I had a successful trip fishing off Kai Iwi beach once got some snapper there. Also ya probably know all this already but best time to fish is change of light right in dusk *just my opinion* take different bait and rigs try braid and nylon see what works different tides etc and ask around what others are catching make sure you jump on some local fishing pages
@massivechicken4099 don't worry about keen mates haha majority of people I go fishing and hunting with I met in social media 🤣 that's why I recommended the nz deer association cause going with someone else who had all their own gear is really cheap eh Also, I don't mean forget your current mates either. I have mates who hunt and fish and mates who don't 👌
Cheers mate glad you enjoyed it!! Antony actually went back this weekend and got a few more!! I wasn't able to make it as have been fishing in Sydney haha
Hey mate! It was a combo package from H&F. Scope is a Burris 3-9x40mm Dropline. I could have gotten the 14x magnification for a bit more but preferred it better for closer range. So far seems to work mint!
Hey bro, thanks for watching and the comment! Gor this farm, it was more of a koha/donation eh and the old guy Rog we went with gives some of his butchered deer to the farmer I believe? I was more tagging along on this one so that's as much as I know sorry haha 🤙
@NZPUBLICLAND cheers bro! This vid has been doing surprisingly well but I put the same effort into the rest I think my thumbnails used to be shyte 😅🤷♂️ anyways have a cool goat bowhunting vid coming up too prob after my current one I'm editing always takes a while haha
Awesome. I'm heading down to Whanganui soon to try and get a fallow with the bow. Really hope I get one finally. Hanging out for some venison biltong!
ohhhhh mare good luck!!!! I just made a HUGE batch of venison jerky would LOVE to learn how to make biltong eh... maybe that's our colab 😉

@fisheatrepeat yeah bro solid advice, only bottleneck is money and opportunity at the moment, and the lack of keen mates haha
