- Опубліковано 24 вер 2024
- In part 1 of Tasman's epic 4 week mid winter trip to fiordland, he pops across from Garden Bay boat ramp in Southland, to Dusky Sound, via Puysegur Point in his trusty wee inflatable boat Red Current. Middle of winter, July 10 - August 7, it was very surprising how warm it was! Bitta diving, fishing and hunting and eating in this episode, hope you enjoy and stick around for the next 3 videos in this series! An incredible part of New Zealand, and the start of a trip of a lifetime 😁.
Thanks for watching and please drop us a like, share or comment since those things really help to get the channel get shown to more people 🙏
Cheers!
Been hard editing whilst on the move traveling in Southeast Asia, so we'll see how long it takes to edit the next parts 😂. Also in late September the boys will be in for a 2 week reunion trip in Scotland so stay tuned for that!

Great footage. I look forward to the next episode.
@NZWildAdventures did you leave from Cosy Nook near Orepuki?
Awesome , Maybe your best work yet.
That was so good ... 😀😃😁
Thanks so much! Happy to hear it 😁
Mate, the biggest compliment I can pay you is this:
You don't talk the talk,
You walk the walk. Truly.
Such a great vid.
Take care and God bless,
Dave
Really appreciate it mate 😊 thanks Dave
Awesome Tasman, Another great video, I gotta say that your exploits around the country in the dinghy are outstanding as is your diving and also your stamina climbing all over the place, in my opinion you are the top adventurer in New Zealand given how you do it on such a low budget.
Thanks very much! I really appreciate it 😁🙏. You're too kind, I'm glad you're enjoying the adventures!
This is going to be amazing. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
That is seriously good content. Fun to keep the bloopers at the end. Shows how much effort goes into making the video work. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks so much! Hahaha glad you enjoy the bloopers, I love editing them in too haha 😂. Cheers!
How epic was that weather! Another great episode tasman. Theres only 5 degrees of separation in NZ when you have two legends bump into each other in the middle of nowhere.. look forward to next episode. Cheers
So lucky aye! Hahaha cheers, was so funny bumping into Josh, what are the chances 😂. Thanks!
Woohoo! been waiting for this episode! Excellent :)
Cheers!
Amazing Adventure. It looks so cold and you're still walking around in your jandals and shorts, hats off :) It was also very funny seeing good old Josh James showing up, haha. Looking forward to the next part. Your trips are something else man, I really admire your courage to do this on your own.
Thanks mate! Hahaha, it wasn't even as cold as I was expecting 😂 it was so funny, what are the chances to catch him there on his first visit as well 😂. Glad you enjoyed the vid, really appreciate it!
You sir are a bloody legend!!!!
Cheers 😆
Just awesome, so beautiful, glad you made it home after polishing that rock with your prop😂
Thanks Dad! Yah haha thankfully only a couple small nicks 😂
Yesss Iv been waiting for this, shot Tasman, im glad you are safe. 30min what a treat😊
That episode went by too quick lol, love Josh James aswell
Cheers Esther! Glad you enjoyed it 😊 haha awesome he seems pretty cool 😆
Just joined your channel and i'm very impressed with your representation of Fiordland as It is a special place. I first went in there in 1987 and spent every year after that for 33 years enjoying the sounds. Well done.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the videography 😁, it is a very special place. So cool you've spent so much time there!
Absolutely amazing 💪🙏🏼
That was sooo good Tasman! That drone footage was epic! I havent done alot of fishing and never tried my hand at spear fishing, so I particularly like your underwater footage. I cant wait for the next episode! 😁👍🏻
Thanks Sam! The drone is a bit of a struggle but it's a cool perspective 😁. Ah cool, glad you enjoyed it! Also I thoroughly recommend spearfishing if you get a chance to go! Cheers mate 😁
What a hard case bumping into Josh 😂😂 Another amazing adventure
😂 definitely 😂. Thanks!
Awesome part 1 of 4 episodes. Love the way you wear jandals in the snow and ice. Awesome to meet up with Josh in his backyard. Thanks for taking us on your adventure.
Thanks! Haha shorts and jandals year round is the Kiwi way 😂. It was hilarious, what a spot to bump into the legend 😆. Cheers!
Oh my goodness this brought tears to my eyes. In 1975 and 76 I got the enormous privilege of spending months working with a close friend doing geology field work in Dusky. That last shot of your campsite on Mt Pender - well it leapt exactly out of my memory like it was yesterday - I remember cooking up a lunch one afternoon on that exact spot. Such a stunning view.
Thank you so much for bringing this back to life. You have no idea how impressed I am with what you are doing!
Wow that's crazy, I'm delighted to hear I brought back some fond memories 😊. Sounds like you had an incredible time in the fiords :). Mt Pender was spectacular I'm so glad I went up to those tops. Thanks very much and cheers for watching!
@@NZWildAdventures A few years back I wrote some of it up at tramper nz in the forums . Thread number 10650. Or search on "Dark Cloud Range" Contains our route information.
So good, thanks for another amazing video Tasman.
Tasman mate, your living the dream most of us wish we could have!, fiordland is an amazing place, i spent a week there back in the mid 80's (shit that makes me feel old!) at deep cove, brings back awesome memories, looking forward to your next installments, thanks greg
I'm definitely pretty lucky to be able to head out so often! Haha never too old to get out for a bit of fun 😆 deep cove is awesome, cool you spent some time out there! Thanks Greg 😁
Man that is stunning. That robin stamp was so cool!
Voice-over for the dive was mint as. Seems like you've got that sorted.🎉
Hanging out for the rest of the vids of this trip.
Cheers! The stamp was amazing, never seen that before! Ah cool, I'm happy to hear it re the voice over 😊. I didn't even have the microphone so I'm glad my phone did a decent job of it 😆. Thanks mate!
Amazing part of the country, Thank you for sharing...
Brilliant episode. Amazing weather... and all that stuff. Keep them coming. One of the best channels to watch.
Thanks so much!
Very pleasant video. Thank you
A truly great small boat adventure at the southern end of the south island of New Zealand. Excellent quality video and views of the southern fjords. Diving, spear fishing and just fishing as well. Thanks Tasman what a start - a bit gnarly in Foveau and Pysugeur though. The weather gods are with you.
Cheers! I'm glad you enjoyed the videography 😁. I got so lucky with the weather! Though I was watching the weather for a good few weeks, passing up on a June opportunity since it was a little windy, pushing it to early July. Definitely a bit bumpy in places but I've had a lot worse 🤣. Thanks mate!
What an adventure really looking forward to part 2 awesome work 👍
What an epic start to this adventure, stunning scenery, can’t believe the weather - it’s been so wet in the South today. How cool meeting Josh, look forward to the next one!
Cheers mate! Crazy lucky with the weather, and therefore the water clarity! Thanks!
Incredible. Absolutely stunning. What an amazing country we live in. Thanks again for taking us with you.
You inspire us and make adventures seem within reach even without the newest ranger and a massive boat.
Much love and respect ❤
Really appreciate it 😁 thanks so much!
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure, awesome video!
Amazing story and experience. Scenery out of this world!
Your my new fav to watch on UA-cam. Awesome stuff, Tasman! ✨️👏🏼
Thanks so much!
The man😂 what a mission
Thank you young man, what you do is inspirational.
Thanks so much! My pleasure 😊
Love this content you have a winning creative formula- not over done in the commentary where I find others like to hear their own voice. Sadly I watch your work on my phone with the odd word explanations small and quick to read but that could also mean I need glasses and am a slow reader. Nga mihi conquer the world showing our Aotearoa beauty👍🏽
Thanks so much! I'm pleased you enjoy the mix of video features 😁. I've been meaning to add a subtitle track to my new videos but it's just an extra bit of effort and time 😆. If I did my own subtitles I could make the text show for longer... cheers for the comment and thanks for watching!
Mate your adventures are next level! Looking forward to the next installment!
Thanks very much!
Such an amazing mish! You're a legend. That little boat of yours has taken you (and us) to some pretty special places. Thanks dude.

Cheers Kerry 😂 thanks for watching!
Gidday mate fantastic weather for trip, filming is crystal clear to makes me wonder what makes you tick 😂 when you have the presence of mind to remember to pack tube of super glue for the trip 😊
Cheers mate! Weather for the whole trip was actually phenomenal, I got super lucky. Haha happy to hear it! Though when I'm chucking stuff in a pack at 2am the night before a trip it doesn't feel terribly prepared 🤣
Some of the best content in NZ.
Looks awesome I’m just getting into my hunting and overnighters so your giving plenty of lessons
Cheers! Awesome I'm pleased to hear it 😁 good luck on your adventures!

@@NZWildAdventures what a great adventure, used to land on a beach in Preservation Inlet and fly crayfisher men in/out many years ago, beautiful place when the weather’s nice.
Cheers Tony! That's awesome, agreed its amazing on a nice day :)
O for Orsum bro 😎
Red current, Tasman and the mighty ocean. The holy trinity of adventure. EPIC BRO!
hahaha epic Josh james casually out there!
Cheers brother! Haha it was crazy to see him 😂
How epic was that weather. Bit of a shame about the plastic and rubbish in one of the most pristine places in NZ. Looking foward to part 2!
Amazing aye, I got so lucky with the lack of rain 😁. Agreed about the plastic crap, bit disappointing... cheers!
Bloody awesome alright tasman
Been waiting a while for this installment, and the wait was worthwhile. Looking forward to part 2.
Glad you enjoyed it Craig! Cheers 😁
I've got a 3.6 inflatable nz alloy floor if you want it in chch. The pontoon has been totaled through insurance already
Oooh really! 👀 actually if you have the side connecty bits I'd be very interested! Flick us an email or insta dm if you'd like, I'm overseas at the moment but some spare bits for the floor could be great when I'm back late this year. Cheers!
Excellent episode. Can’t wait for the next one.
Awesome Tasman just finished watching the first episode of another one of your amazing adventures
Been waiting for this since I saw Josh's post. Wow, awesome footage, what a place!
Hello Tasman, wow what an amazing journey.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching you fish, dive and the scenery is magic.
Looking forward to more
Thank you for sharing
Cheers
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it, cheers for watching 😁
Amazing places you visit. Very scenic. The fur seal was extremely cute!
Unreal!! You are a weapon !! Best part of the World down there.
Hearty stuff Tasman, great video look forward to the next.
Excellent content as always. I'd seen Josh's trip a few weeks ago and knew this trip of yours was coming to the channel. Do you carry all of your fuel for the whole trip, or do you have drops along the way. I used to do a few trips out of Milford in a 4.1 rigid bottom terminator inflatable. The 30hp was the perfect power to weight, plus economy. So much fun!!! Can't wait for the next installment. Cheers
Thank you! Haha cool I've been to check out his vid, I must do that soon. Yep on this trip I took 137L with me, and used all but 2 to deep cove, refilling a few litres there to get over lake manapouri 😁.
That's awesome, Milfords so pretty! Cheers mate, thanks for watching!
Epic trip Tasman! looking forward to the next one 🤙
Wow Tasman!! What a great adventure you absolute Legend!!
Thanks Hamish!
Is that the little island tr the sealers lived on for months/years after the ship that dropped them there sank before getting back to collect them, and so no one knew they needed rescueing
Pretty sure that was one of the ones in the far south, not too sure about that though!
@@NZWildAdventures uncle google says the sealers were on open bay Island off south Westland,
That's crazy since they were so close to the coast 😂
@@NZWildAdventures they lived on that island nearly 4 years, they did construct a boat and got to the mainland, and tried to make their way up a river and get over to Canterbury where they knew of European settlement, but it was too difficult and so returned to the coast and their island to await their ship returning but not being aware it had sunk, but a ship did eventually find them.
Oh my, those poor souls 😱
That was spectacular!! Love the outtakes at the end, kinda shows how much work goes into producing content at this level.. looking foward to ep 2.
Cheers! Haha pleased to hear you appreciate the bloopers 😁 thank you!
Bro yr outtakes are the best😂 appreciate the hard mahi you put into these episodes Taz. You definitely get to see the best parts of NZ and then share it with us. Nga mihi bro 🤝🏼🤙🏽👉🏽💥🐟🦌
Thanks Ian 😂 no English 😂. Really appreciate your comment mate, cheers for watching!
Once again magnificent....a favorite.
