Preparing for a meet whichs more of a powerlifting differs than bodybuilding, usually people who are done with a meet start bodybuilding again... so yes that's what they meant
I really like these videos where they all share experiences and stuff but I think it would be cool if they alternated between ones where they talk a lot of science(like when Bart talked about the Sheiko seminar in one of the talk shows) and ones where they just discuss stuff as normal.
If you're a beginner you can do linear progression. If you workout 3-6 days a week you can bench/squat 2-3 times a week and deadlift maybe twice. Generally you start with more volume and hypertrophy, then enter a strength/peak phase where intensity (load) increases and volume decrease. During this phase you generally don't do reps over 4-5. But it all depends on where you're at and what your goals are
+DJ M3M1 There are tons of good free beginners programs. Check out Candito's, Blaha's and PowerliftingtoWin's and pick whichever fits your schedule better. Good luck man
Russian lifters regularly do meets but have their 3rd attempt as their usual opener. This is because the actual meet "conditions" cannot be recreated anywhere except for in an actual meet. For serious meets they have an "optimised" game plan which allows them to maximise their totals.
the length of your program depends on your experience level. beginners could peak for a meet in 6 weeks, even intermediate. jonnie candito uses his 6 week program to train for meets and hes an elite level lifter. but generally, the more experienced you are, the longer the strength and peaking phases are
like I have an issue, during my high school weightlifting season we have a met every week for like four months, but only two really qualify me for state. I'm worried that if i train for those two meets alone my performance at the smaller meets will either ruin my training cycle or be very poor.
that's what highschool weightlifting teams do. now listen man, back when I was on the weight team when competitions started we practiced 4 days a week, had friday off and had a meet every saturday for 4 months. it's as simple as that. and keep the routine simple. bench: 2x3 / 4x2 / 4x1 80% / 85% / 90% squat: 4x6 3x3 3x2 70% / 80% / 85% clean and jerks 5x2 5x1 75% / 90%
+Jackson Meade I told my coach I want to simply train for the qualifiers and he's been cycling me for that but I still have to compete at the meets, he knows what he's doing so I trust his programming you should look him up, two time Olympian Tim Mcrae
does anyone who of any really good free powerlifting peaking cycles?. iv run candito and digged his ecel easy to put in formatting, but am looking for something longer
Peaking protocols for all lifting categories ('From Scientific Protocols of Strength') : Beginner: 1 peak (4 weeks) Intermediate: 1-2 peaks (4-8 weeks) Advanced: 2-3 Peaks (8-12 weeks) Thank me later.
Well everybody has their own goals. His is not looks but lifting as much as he can. Whatever people want to gain as their fitness goals you should respect that.
How far ahead in the future will Geo prefect her Dead Lift form.
She needs a year of active recovery and tapering.
+Ross Buckle this will never go away will it; i love it.
+Rick Lancee Whatever Bart is doing to her in the bedroom. He better ease up because its affecting her deadlift form.
Rick Lancee lol no mate, it will stay for ever! i bet shes dead sick of it lmfao!
in one of these videos bart said elite level coaches have looked at her form and its fine ?
WTF
Why would you ever stop training?
I like this mentality!!
+Gabriel Arellano Agreed, man your physique is sick.
They mean how long do you prepare for a meet

I would love to see a training session with barbell brigade and CT Fletcher I think that would be explosive
I will be training for a year and half before my first meet.
