I have a friend who got the lap-band a few years back. She does the same thing, eating to the point of purging just so she can eat some more. Im a Nurse, lve seen patients GAIN 40kg after a gastric banding operation!! Who would have thought you could mush up 10 Maccas Hash Browns for breakfast to consume AND still expect to loose weight!
I wish there was some kind of nutrition boot camp people had to go through before doing those surgeries. I have a co-worker who did the full gastric bypass where I think they removed most of her stomach. She did lose weight at first but it has been maybe 4 years since then and she's just about back to what she was before the surgery. She says she has really bad diabetes and also said, "Before I had diabetes, I would have eaten 3 doughnuts." You'd think she would have realized right then how she got the diabetes. I have another co-worker who considered gastric bypass but has zero willpower. She couldn't even do Weight Watchers for 3 weeks before she gave up completely. Doing those surgeries is ultimately pointless if you don't fix the food first. And if you fix the food, the surgeries shouldn't be needed in most cases.

Plate clearer - I just want to put it out there that in certain cultures, when growing up, it's ingrained in you, that you shall not leave and you do not actually leave the table until you clean the plate. Unfortunately, most of us carry on as adults. Solution? Smaller portions so you'll still have that feeling that you ate it all/a lot when seeing a clean plate. Also, try to swap a big plate to a smaller one, my auntie is a doc and she recommends doing that, especially at dinner/supper.
Why are the even together? They just don’t seem to like each other. “He told me he doesn’t mind not having his laptop while he eats but I’m not to talk to him” Wtf

The ONLY time that should be a concern is when getting off your diet. If you go from calorie restriction to your regular diet right away you will gain weight. If you suddenly feed yourself a bunch your body is going to go we should save some of this for later. You have to slowly work your way up to "regular" and watch your weight while you do it. It has NOTHING to do with the actual diet.
Denise is doing my head in .. blaming everything on her husband and taking no responsibility for herself and then trying to make HIM look really bad all the time .
Good God, he needs help. They both do. Why the hell is she enabling him? Probably because she doesn't want to eat alone, like a boozer doesn't want to drink alone. Gross.
That lady is constantly blaming her husband for her own bad food choices. "He needs the sauce...", "He insists on his laptop...", "He does this, I'm practically powerless...". Woman, I tell you something: I have a husband who can eat ANYTHING without gaining a single gram and therefore eats nothing but junk. But, he can eat as many crisps and cookies in front of me as he wants, I won't touch anything of it if I already have eaten enough for the day. Temptation is everywhere, learn how to ignore it!
Usually the terms for specifics kinds of eaters use alliteration like "Night-Time Nosher" or "Serial Snacker" in this series. This episode used "Plate Clearer" but I think they could've said "Plate Polisher" to keep their pattern going. :P
I noticed the wife offering emphasis when she lies. She announced that she throws away the extra chocolate “seriously!” Clearly anticipating that she wouldn’t be believed which means that she *lies all the time*
When I was younger I was a fat girl. My mum always tried to control my portion sizes and everytime I complained that I was not full enough after eating the small portions, she will aske me to fill it up with water. Today am a regular size girl but I still hear my mum's voice saying "fill it up with water" everytime I feel like I need to eat more. It still helps me till date. I drink water before and during meal to fill me up quickly so I don't over eat. I think simple methods like that can help. We neglect water alot when it comes to our diet but it is actually really good if you want to lose weight.
Love how she shamed him for eating with a laptop at the table while it cut to multiple clips of her eating at the table with a laptop, I would say she genuinely doesn't realise all of these things but they were literally showing her the footage of her doing it and she still denied it, like what.
This isn't a husband and wife. It's a husband and his mother. For god's sake, he's a grown man, he can take some ownership of his own meals. He keeps blaming his eating patterns on his wife, who seems to do all the work in the kitchen.
Is nobody observing how dysfunctional some relationships are on this program and probably the reason why people compensate their emotional imbalance with food? Totally agree with the comments around food addiction. Who makes him/herself overeat in order to vomit unless there is a deep rooted issue. The amount of self-denial in almost all of those episodes and victim mentality reaaallly indicates something. Love to watch Secret Eaters though - strengthens my conscious approach around food.
It blows my mind how people seem to think that eating a healthy meal naturally means weight loss or maintaining weight. It doesn’t, weight gain comes from portion sizes and the amount of food you’re eating!
They feel that they already sacrificed a lot, so there should be a reward in return😂I can get that though. Sometimes it upsets me as well how calorific some "natural" and "healthy" foods are. For example, it's extremely easy to overeat fruits or berries. Not to mention nuts.
secret eaters is such a great concept but i feel like a lot of the people probably do change their eating habits because they know they're being watched
Hearing the words they don't know how they're gaining weight 😂 is like a pig pretending to be a dog. It doesn't add up. I'm overweight and know I'm eating junk food.
Stop while you're young. It won't be easy in the very near future. Try no food from 5pm-10 am or so. Eat veggies first. Write it all down. No pop or juice. I do like 1,500 a day to lose. And go swim or something.
did y’all catch the part where she says, “he doesn’t mind not having the laptop at the table, but I’m not to talk to him.”?! Why are these people together? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a couple hate each other that much, it’s awful to see.
I actually feel quite bad for these people. The excuses might seem absurd, but it is really an internal defence mechanism, to shield them from feeling horrible. When we believe there are outside or mysterious factor causing the weight gain, it lessens the emotional and psychological burden on the person. Because if we are doing it to ourselves, we feel extra guilt on top of already feeling guilty about being so large. Sad all around :(
Ultimately I agree with you. But people who bake/cook for a living (with typically very long hours at that) don't often have the interest or energy to then go home and cook some more. In all fairness. But there are definitely homemade things that don't take a lot of effort, too.
@@sitcomchristian6886 You can cook a few things at once and freeze. Measure it all out and all you have to do is take it out of fridge. That's what I do.
They are constantly trying to blame each other but Denise is forever tattling on David and then saying she doesn't eat enough and that David is to blame for the massive portions that she herself eats right along with him. I'm getting sick of her excuses and his lack of a backbone (albeit seemingly as we really don't know) I can guarantee that if my husband had a gastric band fitted, there is NO WAY I would be enabling his addiction and plating up HUGE meals. If he insisted on that, he could cook and serve himself because I would not be a part of him killing himself. I would also NOT make fatty rich sauces, I would make a low calorie sauce or gravy and if he wanted something else an hour after dinner he could knock himself out, I mean, why is she so angry because he will ask for a dessert ? Tell him to make it himself, he is a chef for goodness sake. Weird reaction
Omg, this was sad... Him pushing the food down, and getting up to vomit only to continue?? There's something very VERY wrong about that! I think she's pushing him to eat more, or enabling him. If he eats a smaller portion, but gets hungry an hour later, why not let him have another portion instead of dessert, and instead or making him push it all down at once?
Love how they shift blame on each other. He had a gastric band and still eats crap & she cooks huge portions too. They don't care about their health. Sad

@@lizzie1897 well you'd be wrong. But then anyone clinging to medical advice from nearly a hundred years ago doesn't value accuracy.
all these larger people who say "I think I gain weight because I EAT TOO LITTLE." Really don't understand anything. These people know nothing about what happens to the body when it is truly in starvation mode, which is what they think is happening to them. Get these people some nutritional education.
they have no common sense either
Starvation level is under 500 calories a day... Not... Well... 1,500 in a single meal.
@@leechowning2712 it's 900
I think because they don’t eat proper meals all day so it feels like they are only eating one meal a day

I sincerely hope they sought counseling because this marriage is so toxic it breaks my heart.
27:01 then she blames her partners gastric band on using that much cheese, milk & butter? She can't just own it. 🤣
But he also says well I can't eat it unless x y and z, so yeah she's not owning up, but he's enabling her.

This was an intense episode. The couple denied/argued too much!
Im happy im not married to that woman
Or you would like to marry him ? A guy doing nothing at home and whining every time he wants a snack because he won't look at the freezer himself ?!
Julz Alta Thank you!
I’m so sick of everyone in this comment section blaming the wife for all the tension and hostility. That is so misogynistic!
@@therealtulip Misogynistic? The comments are mostly women.
Brandy Richardson I know. That makes it even worse.
Maya Eyal Internalized misogyny is so tough to unlearn ... they could at least try though! The husband and wife are both extremely immature people but it looks like they’ve recognized that somewhat by the end of the episode.
They need a divorce. How badly is the wife treating the husband.
Dog doesn't look as though he's having much fun, either.
Why cause she’s open and honest about what actually has happened to create these situations? He has asked for the computer to be on the dining table, he has insisted on sauce, he has insisted on going back for seconds after dinner. She is discussing it honestly. Stop judging her.
How badly are they treating each other, rather
@@drrush3421 She cruel and blames the husband for her own decisions. Even if she did make the sauce for him, doesn't mean she has to eat it herself or eat so much of it.
I don't think they're actually married. The hostess referred to them as partners and they have different last names.
I’m honestly wondering if that woman has ever taken responsibility for a single thing in her life lol it was actually painful to watching her pass the blame onto her husband every time so passive aggressively.
Finally someone said it
Im a Nurse, lve seen patients GAIN 40kg after a gastric banding operation!!
Part of the blame is the greedy, selfish doctors. They've KNOWN they can't cure addiction since 1939 in the Doctor's Opinion. And even earlier, as it's mentioned in the bible. But they steal your money, anyway.
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 then what is the cure for addiction?

"No more sauces. If he chokes, he chokes." That pretty much sums up their relationship.

Problem in that relationship ain’t the food... damn just get divorced it’s easier lol
Karen totally agree, I like the husband
I don't think they're married. The hostess said they were partners and they have different last names.
I really commend the host for not going berserk. The wife / partner of that guy was just blaming every single thing on him, and taking no responsibility. Saying she only put all that cheese on because of him, but then why didn't she make 2 separate types, one with cheese for him and one without for herself...
Exactly! My God! I come here to complain about the wife, but then turns out everyone else has done it for me
Plate clearer - I just want to put it out there that in certain cultures, when growing up, it's ingrained in you, that you shall not leave and you do not actually leave the table until you clean the plate.
Drew Tyler they would be alone otherwise
Haha I watched these a few year back but watching some again. I actually laughed out loud when she said with such a serious face they're overweight through not eating enough. I've no idea how Anna kept a straight face when she said that 😂😂😂😂
Anne has been that size herself… she knows all the fibs people tell themselves.
The wife is driving me insane she’s not taking any responsibility 🙄
And her husband is ? He doesn't even cook or serve his own plate.
"He said he didn't mind not having a computer bu didn't want me to talk to him."
I'm not surprised love, the way you talk to him.
Can we get rid of this "body goes into starvation mode" myth please??
Xmv 1 I lost most of my weight through fasting. Starvation mode isn’t a thing
@@GourmandGirlie That's what I said. It's a myth= it's untrue
That literally only applies to anorexics. Which they are CLEARLY are not.
@@ffi1001 It doesn't even apply to anorexics lol
"My body thinks its going to starve.." 😂😂😂
Denise is doing my head in .. blaming everything on her husband and taking no responsibility for herself and then trying to make HIM look really bad all the time .
Sounds like the man has got a emotional attachment to food or else he wouldn’t force it down and be sick
With that wife by his side that's probably the only emotional attachment in his life (besides the dog)
Good God, he needs help. They both do. Why the hell is she enabling him? Probably because she doesn't want to eat alone, like a boozer doesn't want to drink alone. Gross.
Jay jay Starr married to her I think has caused the issue
Thank you where is Dr Now when you need him
That lady is constantly blaming her husband for her own bad food choices.
This show should be called "I don't think I eat enough to warrant being this size!"
Beautiful German shepherd though
Usually the terms for specifics kinds of eaters use alliteration like "Night-Time Nosher" or "Serial Snacker" in this series. This episode used "Plate Clearer" but I think they could've said "Plate Polisher" to keep their pattern going. :P
Well spotted!!!
I noticed the wife offering emphasis when she lies. She announced that she throws away the extra chocolate “seriously!” Clearly anticipating that she wouldn’t be believed which means that she *lies all the time*
Psycho-Bullshit
@@foxforce1437 lol right? This comment is as ignorant of psychology as the couple here is ignorant about food, lol
Actually you should wait 30 mins after drinking water to eat and 30 mind after eating to drink water. During you should drink hot water.b
Those poor veggies drowned in cheese 😱
a moments silence for the broccoli lost in the mass drowning of Denise's dinner
This woman is 100% the type who would want to speak to a manager at a restaurant.
Love how she shamed him for eating with a laptop at the table while it cut to multiple clips of her eating at the table with a laptop, I would say she genuinely doesn't realise all of these things but they were literally showing her the footage of her doing it and she still denied it, like what.
I love when they think theyre fat because they eat too little

This isn't a husband and wife. It's a husband and his mother. For god's sake, he's a grown man, he can take some ownership of his own meals. He keeps blaming his eating patterns on his wife, who seems to do all the work in the kitchen.
Jesus Christ, do you want some vegetables with that cheese sauce??? 🧀😲🧀😆
The lady keeps blaming the husband for everything
"thats the fighting spirit" the wife is a piece of work
Is nobody observing how dysfunctional some relationships are on this program and probably the reason why people compensate their emotional imbalance with food?
The couple's interaction with one another made me need a smoke. Such a hostile relationship.
Again, if there's free donuts, i'll eat one. Doesn't mean I overeat everyday or that i'll do it everytime.
Watched almost every episode of this show during quarantine :)

That would be my first guess, if I'm gaining weight, I'm not eating enough.
Right, it's the obvious answer 😂😂😂
secret eaters is such a great concept but i feel like a lot of the people probably do change their eating habits because they know they're being watched
I love these private food investigators/detective 😂😂
You can't ignore their sedentary life style. And the awful habbit of eating in front of a screen.
I'm a plate clearer. FOR SURE. Thankfully, I'm a lot better at setting my portions, and I'm better about my food choices.
A *new* episode! YES YES YES!!
Denise is the kind of person to romanticize eating disorders
Literally couldn't write this!! We don't know why we are fat, then goes on to eat a chocolate and order a curry😂
Yep, it's easy for the weight gain to be a mystery when you so successfully lie to yourself and each other every single day!
"Why you you think you're gaining weight?"
"I don't think I'm eating enough!"
👁👄👁
I actually feel quite bad for these people. The excuses might seem absurd, but it is really an internal defence mechanism, to shield them from feeling horrible. When we believe there are outside or mysterious factor causing the weight gain, it lessens the emotional and psychological burden on the person. Because if we are doing it to ourselves, we feel extra guilt on top of already feeling guilty about being so large. Sad all around :(
This was a great comment. Very compassionate. Very true.
What's stopping him from making his own food ?
Ultimately I agree with you. But people who bake/cook for a living (with typically very long hours at that) don't often have the interest or energy to then go home and cook some more. In all fairness. But there are definitely homemade things that don't take a lot of effort, too.
@@sitcomchristian6886 You can cook a few things at once and freeze. Measure it all out and all you have to do is take it out of fridge. That's what I do.
Anna is so stunning is the only reason I watch these shows
It would be interesting to film these people some time after the show to see if they succumb to old habits when they are not being watched
They are constantly trying to blame each other but Denise is forever tattling on David and then saying she doesn't eat enough and that David is to blame for the massive portions that she herself eats right along with him.
I'm getting sick of her excuses and his lack of a backbone (albeit seemingly as we really don't know)
I can guarantee that if my husband had a gastric band fitted, there is NO WAY I would be enabling his addiction and plating up HUGE meals.
Dam this was brutal to watch
Omg, this was sad... Him pushing the food down, and getting up to vomit only to continue?? There's something very VERY wrong about that!
I think she's pushing him to eat more, or enabling him. If he eats a smaller portion, but gets hungry an hour later, why not let him have another portion instead of dessert, and instead or making him push it all down at once?
32:27 "because i do forget i'm eating"
