- Larry Chen continues to immerse himself in Hong Kong's car culture and takes you along to secret collections, where he can't even show the owners' faces or use their names. In the collections he can show you, the owners discuss how to disguise such large collections, how they navigate around Hong Kong's culture, and which cars receive the least amount of attention.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to clear up what I said in the video. I was wrong about the government taking away your vehicles in Hong Kong for no reason at all. I messed up and I should not have said that. I need to be more careful when I make these grand statements.
What I should have said was that they WILL find a reason to take away your vehicle if they choose to. Even if it's unfounded and not true, EVEN if the vehicle is stock and they think it's modified. As you have seen in the past video where the cop stopped the NSX-R owner because he does not have an airbag, even though the NSX-R never came with one in the first place. The cars can be taken away for as little as aftermarket wheels, or a different radio / head unit, as was stated in the last videos.
This is the same for the storage places where the cars and collections actually live, the collectors are deathly afraid of their garages taken away. Again, the government will find a reason.
I've been shooting cars for 20 years and I've traveled to so many places, but I've never EVER been in a situation where I have seen so many people afraid to let their car be seen online. While I was in Hong Kong I legitimately saw hundreds of cars where the owner did not want me to photograph it, or show the plate, or show their face. HUNDREDS!
We visited so many incredible collections in Hong Kong and the owners were legitimately scared for me to shoot anything even on my phone because they didn't want to attract any attention from the authorities. Even just cars that showed up to some of the meets that we held, they did not want their face to be seen, they did not want me to photograph their car, they just wanted me to SEE the car for some reason.
If you want to read the actual law it's here section 80. Notice "the reason to believe" verbage www.elegislation.gov.hk/hk/cap374!en
Any police officer who, as a result of an examination of a vehicle under subsection (1), has reason to believe that-(a) the vehicle has been involved in an accident;(b) the vehicle is not roadworthy; (Amended 3 of 1991 s. 8)(ba) the vehicle does not comply with vehicle emission standards; or (Added 3 of 1991 s. 8)(c) the vehicle does not comply with this Ordinance or any condition subject to which the vehicle licence in respect of the vehicle was issued,may-(i) direct the driver of the vehicle to drive it to such vehicle examination centre or police station as the police officer may specify; or (ii) direct the driver and any other person to leave the vehicle and himself drive or remove the vehicle or cause it to be driven or removed to any vehicle examination centre or police station, and may cause the vehicle to be detained at a vehicle examination centre or police station for not more than 72 hours while the vehicle is examined by a vehicle examiner.
you should have at least blurred the license plates upon their requests. you should be ashamed of yourself.
If you so vehemently believe the government is like this, then why would you dismiss owner's (ie. XRX) request to blur out the license plates? Do you just not care about these owners that so graciously let you film in their garage?
Also after seeing how you completely disrespected the car collectors featured in your video, it was probably wise for the "HUNDREDS" of owners to not want to be in your photo/video
If you use the law to talk to the police, it proves that you are a fool , look like my name , sorhi !
Also, just a note for you guys. I reached out to Richard_XRX and we have resolved everything. The plates he needed blurred were burred. I apologized to him for not being able to fix things sooner. Because I posted everything on reels, stories and main feed on instagram the day I visited him I assumed incorrectly that showing everything was ok. Lessons learned.
Thanks and much appreciated for Larry Chen reaching out to me and solved all below matters!!!!!
Disclaimer: We have never approved any contents shown in this video and are deeply disappointed by the lack of respect from Larry Chen.
1. We have reminded him to blur a certain object in the garage. *ignored by him.
2. We needed to see the draft before posting. * He agreed but did not give us the draft.
3. We asked to blur the object after the video was released (doable), and his response was “we are making a fuss for nothing”
4. Without approving the video beforehand, none of his speech in his videos could be said to accurately represent any of the car collectors. We are just car lovers sharing our passion with no intention at all to challenge anyone.
Purely wondering but what parts of the video were supposed to be blurred? Faces?
Asking for privacy is not whining.
If you have watched or followed XRX’s channel, he’s one of the most legit, down to earth, real, honest guys among Hong Kong UA-camrs or any UA-camrs sharing cars around the world, he tries out every car he can, and tests every parts he can, every mod/ mechanic shop he can. Other huge channels like Seen Through Glass has taken videos of his collection as well.
He’s nowhere that “dirty money” guy like you guys are saying. As car geeks in Hong Kong, we were very happy to share our car culture with anyone we know, BECAUSE it’s not easy to enjoy cars here, that’s why we were doing all these meets with Larry, however, this time, he really disappointed us fans in general, and some of you guys too cuz XRX is one of the biggest car channels in Hong Kong.
I don’t understand why it is a problem to ask for some privacy when we are letting you film stuff in our own private space, I 100% am disgusted too when XRX literally shares everything on UA-cam but there are these accusing irresponsible comments too.
@@lennmonade7066exactly.
@@dedlykuin8539definitely telling me you haven’t checked out how big XRX is

Man, that dude with a wife that shares his passion, what an angel. This guy should not cry every day, he should be the happiest dude on the planet
Trying to keep a low profile in Hong Kong's car scene is like hiding a Tyrannosaurus rex in a phone booth!
just living in HK one needs to keep a low profile...
@@matthewschiebout7384True that. The gossipy culture is highly annoying and that's why so many people are depressed, especially the introverted.
It's becoming more so in so many cities.
How sad @@matthewschiebout7384
last week over 10,000 people had disappeared in Hong Kong, but the media isn't talking about it
"When I was much younger i collected Ferraris" That Guy looks 25.
As Larry pointed out in the earlier videos, most of these guys were born into wealth.
@@TeeShongwe Yeah XRX is born into money. Eugene, "my family complex" and he can fit 10 cars. Yeah that's not a regular apartment, his family is loaded for sure, must own the damn building ...
That stood out to me too. No hate though. He is living the dream we all want. Seems like a cool guy too.
i met XRX in person once, probably the most humble (rich) guy I ever met
@@hemispherecompensation true… for those who don’t know an average parking space in Hong Kong is worth around £100k, in better areas it’s like £300k
Larry was showing how oppressive the government is in Hong Kong,
Any private property can be taken at any time!
He has the most rare JDM Tuners and LFA I have seen. This is a legendary car collection video. That white NSX is super clean!!
Growing up lusting over muscle cars and hot rods I learned to appreciate the insanity of the JDM car culture and impressive line up of insane cars ever made from the tiny island!
Exactly. Every regional car lover is just as insanely passionate as any other, just for a different genre. There are some people who love classic American muscle even outside of the US, and there are loads of people who adore Italian cars or German cars. Then there's JDM. JDM lovers are intense.
Though this is a JDM-focused video, I can assure you the passion of American cars in HK are equally amazing. There are people who own and take their American classics out (such as a Pontiac GTO and a C3 Corvette) for Sunday morning drives. There was even a RHD converted Challenger Hellcat for sale about a month ago.
My favorite thing to watch on this channel. Love Car Culture so much.
I love the last couple Matt and Jodie! I see the passion by way of how they both responded to the interview and he weren’t joking about crying. Good luck Jodie! 🚗
This is absolutely incredbile. You can't keep these guys down.
Loving these videos. So glad to have my 66 bug insured by Hagerty. But these videos give me a huge respect for HongKong Car Culture. What they have to go through, to have these cars, and the fact that they have some of the rarest and cleanest JDM Examples in their collections, is just insane. Huge respect to our fellow car enthusiasts in Asian! Keep on driving.
This is an amazing impressive collection. Thanks for producing this video.
love the couple with the HF1991. good luck with the tsukuba dream! 💯
The couple at the end ❤
How much I love JDM cars.. well I got happy tears at the mid of the vid. No shame admit that. Exactly why I own my R34, it was my dream car and its never leaving my ownership :)
Another fantastic episode. Love the videos, love the cars, love the enthusiasts. 👍🏻
Kudos to these guys for preserving and caretaking such iconic moments in automotive history. Love all the JDM stuff too, I would never sell my 1990 Subaru Legacy GT wagon. Owned it 20 years this year and might have to restore it (again) but maybe back to stock this time? Seems it would be worth more...? I still have the original motor so it's certainly possible.
Excellent work, Larry! I watched the whole series and loved it all. You are crazy dedicated to your art and it shows.
This is a nicely balanced video that shows collections of all types. It would be fun to see more modest collections, but this is getting less and less common nowadays that the costs of these cars are climbing so quickly. Its a shame, and it makes enjoying and driving our cars so much more difficult.
"No names or faces allowed"
Also one of those owners: *plasters his UA-cam channel name all over his license plates* 🤣🤣
Is a youtube channel a face or name?
@@pistonburner6448 ehh you could see his face in his channel so......

I guess the 'elders' like myself are the US version of an "uncle", lol. It's refreshing to learn of gear heads in other lands and to know the hobby isn't something that the US only does. It seems that time may not be on our side, as we are universally considered outlaws by the great powers
Love watching these documentaries of the jdm car culture around the world! These need to be longer!
11:04 Dartboard!!! But wow, these cars are literally insane! Amazing video!
Many many kudos to all these car enthusiasts. They are amazing and living their passion in that environment is crazy. By the way, the Delta HF is ... wahou... no words. Like it a lot.
Not even a huge Skyline guy anymore but those CRS are just gorgeous.
What a bloody awesome collection of cars at Contempo, know of the name from seeing their Mercedes racing here in the UK! The collection is nuts though
Awesome video. Thanks for taking the time to film and to share with us!
Great vid, So sad seeing all those hiding without being driven…
Cars are art in movement, meant to be driven and enjoyed.
That couple who own lancia delta are lovely❤. Wish they get amazing deal whenever they sell it.
Ahah agree. As an Italian living in Hong Kong I d love to meet them
OMG. THAT'S A CROWN COMFORT GT-Z!!!! It's my dream car.
This is mind blowing. Thanks for giving us this executive opportunity
Loved the 22B and that was a nice yellow hawk eye next to it. I love Subarus. 😂
"Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man´s world ! "

Great video,! The cars are amazing....
Such a cool episode, but cant overlook the fact we were drooling over OG JDM throughout the episode but at 27:44 we see the interior of a Land Cruiser 70 series. A lC70 in HK! with a clock!
That S660 Neo Classic is so cool.
As an arab man i absolutely love and adore Japan and its car culture. Unbelievably intelligent and down to earth no matter how much money they have. Breathtakingly beautiful people.
I've been loving this series so far, Larry. I hope for more.
Hong Kong scene, amazing! 👏👏
This Hong Kong series is truly truly amazing - please keep the good work up!!
Damn! Such an amazing JDM collection! It’s so unfortunate that the owner(s) are stifled to truly enjoy the freedom to engage in the culture of these awesome rides. Great video!
Thank you Hagerty!
Thanks you so much for the series of car culture in Japan I absolutly love everything about it. Except the gouverment ofcourse.
Its properly amazing and awe inspiring to see so many different levels of
the various different car cultures from HK.
Living in Europe, its just easy to see the hugely valuable and mega money
JDM and super/hyper car collections and to think that is nearly all there is to see.
So its really good to see some of the other people, who are just as passionate and
enthusiastic, even if the cars might not be worth nearly as much as a Z-Tune or a
NSX-R.
Although, I could easily look at those all day as well 😀
Real pity, the political situation has changed so much for the worse over the last few decades,
since 1997.
That Z-tune, but that MNP GT-R 34 OMG that looks mental
really really neat collection, but its particularly the nsx-r, the mugen rr, and the assortment of bearbricks that was the icing on the cake, a championship white 99 ctr would be the cherry on top with the 22b
Great video!
Loving this series! Hoping there’s an opportunity to buy prints of some of the shots taken.
What an amazing series. I’m hooked
Wow, these are amazing cars
Can you record something more about mPower Hong Kong spots and in particular this orange M3? If there is an instagram of this M3 then give what nickname please, thanks!
i love 67(richard)!! 歡迎嚟到hagrety嘅channel 🤣🤣 xrx fan from US :)
Yes! my s2000 has made it in the collections! 😁
The hyper car collections sitting in air-conditioned display rooms are nice, but that Lancia seems to be the one that's really living its best life with its owners.
MX5 owned for many years. Modified quite well, illegal according to this video, however, it is driven hard daily without problems from the law.😂
Yea these people got the best jdm car collection crazy
Dude 2 JDM SVXs hiding in that collection? That’s awesome
The legislation you referred to (section 80 of Road Traffic Ordinance Cap 80) was enacted and amended to its current form in 1991.
You yourself have quoted “added 1991” or “amended 1991”.
This meant these legislations have been in force since 1991 (for 33 years now!)
Hong Kong was under British colonial rule until 1997 so it was the British Colonial government which enacted these legislations (in 1991).
If you check with the laws in UK, you will find that UK has similar legislations (see Road Traffic Act 1988 section 67: Testing vehicles on roads)
Well say...
Wait a min I follow contempo they detail.. oh whaattt insane collection.. ❤
Fantastic!
If 20 again (or 30 or so) - this would be my thing. Very cool...
That Comfort GT-Z is super cool. But it’s also Trigger’s Broom.
They found stuff around Omori .😮 Legendary car culture in Japan
The owners need to respected, i mentioned that the electrical lines where rolled on while charging up to 4 batteries.
I would recommend to roll the line totally off, so you wont get any fire du to heat.
Larry, Thank you for all the all the hard work you put into all your videos! Sincere respect to the car enthusiast in China!!
Undriven cars hurt my soul.
That Motocompo with the original price sticker is genuine gold dust 😵 seriously jealous!!!
Awesome❗✌🏻😊
Siiick 🔥🔥
This is why America is so great no matter how bad it seems right now. I feel bad for the people of Hong Kong. So sad to hide these cars
What are you talking about there's so many car collections throughout the United States you'll never know exist due to the privacy of the owners. 😂
They are not hiding, there is a lot running all over HK...
@mike4fo if they really need to hide from hk government, how come they showed everything to a famous youtuber like now and everyone seeing these? And pretend hk government is not knowing? serious?
@@10adrian I think he's talking about the collections that they weren't able to film because of the privacy of the owners. I just don't believe it's due to fear of government confiscation. There's a lot more private collections in places like the US that we'll never see than than in places like Hong Kong. They're not afraid of the government either, they're just private people that don't want that sort of public attention on their collection.
private property can be taken at any time in Hong Kong. One day you can wake up and see your car being confiscated, and the next day it's being driven by the son of a ccp official
Absolutely-Fing-Fantastic! THank you LArry and team, and thank you HKG car people!!!!
I like it until 17:00 - some collectors simply prefer to be low key not because of any governments/authorities, that's just being safe with their assets against theft and undesired attention. Hong Kong car circle is rather small, everyone knows everyone especially with such pricey collections, it would be dangerous if their storage locations are exposed.
Especially with the rabid press in Hong Kong. They are all up in everybody’s business.
Glad to see some VOLVO's in the mix !
Amazing!

the last couple so cute!!
Love this series, keep it going! First guy is a double edged sword for the car community. It's great that he owns all this very expensive car history. But it's also terrible that they're just garage kept and never see the road. LFA with 200km? "Do you drive any of these cars anymore? Not really to be honest." It's just a waste. And I get it, Larry is highlighting the difficulties of owning cars in HK, but he seems more interested in the value of them.
Cont'd:
I think the car companies are 51% to blame than these "I need to keep my value" owners, since they just didn't make more of each of these cars that are now "collecting dust" sitting in peoples garages and show rooms and never touching pavement because of "rarity and value". I think these companies should re-make all these cars as like a "rebirth" series. It wouldn't hurt the value of the originals one cent because you'd have vin numbers to know which is original and which is the remade model. So we'd get to see more of these beautiful cars on the road, and then everyone else can garage queen the originals if they want. (And the originals would very likely increase in value because of the popularity boom, it's a win-win)
That legacy rs really is my dream car! Even over a 22b
I hope this cars stays like that healthy fresh and clean from owners to owners to the next owners.
We are moving forward to the electric vehicles.
Because of this new electric vehicles this legendary JDM cars are a bit expensive and rare for them to be sold over the market.
Larrys content is aways amazing. He loves cars and it shows. Living vicariously through him for years.

I spotted Larry here in the Thailand a while back, still waiting for the video?
@larry don't use your lovely camera in London UK, it will get stolen 😂.. love your work man! I once had a brand new honda ep3 type R limited edition in milano red... that was as far as i got! 😅... still, 2nd gear to 60mph was fun! 😂
Impressive collection!!
They do not want the government to know that they have all these cars!? If they have 200 cars in their collection they are in the names of 200 different people, or...🤔? Because the government should already know that they have all these cars, unless they arrived illegaly in the country.🙄
you can import the car but not doing the registration. goverment wont know you own that and wont charge the registration tax. but you can use the viechcle test license to drive the car slightly.

This video, out of ALL your videos, ranks in the top 3, possibly #1...GREAT G R E A T video❗️❗️
In car culture, like any human passion, limitations don't actually limit you, it forces you to become more creative with what you have at hand. Asian car culture proves this in spades!
You should take a look at the Motorcycle Culture in Hong Kong as well.
Not really a car culture where only rich people (profession = son) are shown! It's easy to collect Ferraris when your parents are rich! This is one reason why many poor Hong Kong residents like to be a part of communist China! Where does all the wealth come from? Only when other people lose!
Matt and Jodie are the only real car lovers in this video, respect to them!
The wealth comes from corruption by the ccp. The children of the ccp officials wanted their faces blurred out, but Larry exposed them all! 😄
Larry you gotta visit the Malaysian Car scene man give malaysia a shot.
Richard has his own UA-cam also
I'm glad you pronounced "Lancia" correctly! "Lan-cha"
