Very nice video. What an expert mr. Iding is. Reminds me of the real ABARTH, before 1972, he made engines with longer strokes too. And ABARTH became World Champion with it. No wonder why.

I can't wrap my head around the fact Ide-san cast his own V12 engine modeled after the BMW unit in the McLaren F1. His own carbon fiber bumpers, hoods. His own wheel designs. Same shop for 50 years. Nissan came to him to look at the BMW M1 straight-6 for ideas for a motorsport engine. Fascinating to the point of shocking. I never heard of this man but he's my new favorite story.

Ide-san is a real gentleman, car enthusiast and a brilliant engineer whom I met in the late '90s. The Japanese magazine Special Cars International asked me to do a story on Iding Power Europe, which had just opened in Hamburg, Germany at the time. I tested his tuned E36 M3 and Ferrari F355 for them, and also ran the story in European Car magazine in the US. I still have all the sales brochures he gave me on the day. Thank you for the privilege Ide-san!
Oh, Mr. Ide! It's been a while! I remember being invited to the showroom in Shin-Yamashita when it became the first McLaren dealer in Japan. It's been almost 40 years since I first visited his shop, and I remember how all the customers in suits came in wearing Simpson driving shoes, so I adopted the same style. When tuning my father's BMW Alpina B10, I remember you lent us the M3 Stage 2 as a loaner. At the time, I was fully tuning a 32 GT-R, but you suggested I try out the M6 Stage 3 instead of playing with that toy. I remember the test drive. All the cars were truly amazing. Since I live in the United States, I haven't had many opportunities to see him, but I'm glad to see he is doing well.
I remember reading about Iding Power in an old European Car magazine. I think at one point he set up headquarters in Germany because he focused on BMWs. The engineering and quality of work are mind-blowing. I like how he casually mentions he designed and made his own engine block in-house.
How have I not heard of this man before? Who makes their own V12 - casting his own block and forming the heads etc? That is rainman level of savant work. Amazing.

Couldn't understand a thing since it was all in Japanese but the Iding Power E36 that was featured along with the black RWB Porsche with the number 666 and the Baphomet n pentagram on it totally floored me. The catalogue section with all the old school wheels was drool worthy. I'm not too into the whole Bosozoku culture/trend but the widebody cars had me craving to own one some day. Thanks Larry for covering this. Anything that ticks off the stuck up Ferraristas is awesome in my book! 🤣
To me IMO Japan has THE BEST tuners and engine builders in the world. They build and tune their cars the same way the master craftsman make their Katana swords, with pure emotion passion and spirit. Ive always dreamed about taking R34 gtr to mines and have them work their magic on it.
Amazing is too weak of a word to describe the Japanese car culture. I had the esteem privilege of living in Japan for 1.5 years and their love for cars and how they go about building them is something to witness. I take inspiration from how they do things when i build my personal street cars and i want to learn so much more. My friends compliment my work, but i can never seem to get to this level of fit and finish for my own pride and satisfaction. Great video. 🏆
So the RB26 was inspired by the BMW S38? That's so awesome. This guy is living my dream, Ferrari and older BMWs are my favorite cars ever. Seeing that e30 m3 and the awesome e36 just makes me realize this guy knows what's awesome. I'm a e36 fan and have a few of them as well as a 1978 308gts. I would be on cloud 9 in this shop.

Thanks Larry for covering this. Anything that ticks off the stuck up Ferraristas is awesome in my book! 🤣
My lord i would be on edge to not say anything incorrect or rude in front of that man what a legend
No words.... A true master. Masamune of our era.
This is why I respect Japan they take something and make it better with Americans. Those two countries advance things past “perfection”
“Modified Enzo Ferrari”
Those are three words you don’t ever see in the same sentence. Thanks for taking us along for the tour.
This is absolutely astonishing!
I'd love to hear that McLaren F1 engine scream all the way to 10.000 RPM!
Wow. Larry Chen + Hagerty + An Enzo + MODS?! Unbelievable cinematics, like watching a movie
Larry and Dino knocked it out of the park with this. Thank you for the amazing video.
To me IMO Japan has THE BEST tuners and engine builders in the world. They build and tune their cars the same way the master craftsman make their Katana swords, with pure emotion passion and spirit. Ive always dreamed about taking R34 gtr to mines and have them work their magic on it.
This was very entertaining. Respect for the skill of the tuner, respect for the skill of the presenter and editor.
Larry Chen is a legend. Heard about him for the first time when I started visiting speedhunters regularly and seeing his beautiful photos
Amazingly cool , hats off to this shop for going outside the boundaries and doing something different with these Ferrari’s.
The old man deserves a interview. Just him talking about his life.
Such a cool story….these are things we car guys live to see….thank you Larry and Hagerty and Speedhunters!
Getting to this video kinda late. But this man is incredible. This is truly next level tuning. Some things only come from experience
Killed it with this one, guys. Such enthusiasm. Such passion. Hilarious to see Larry this blown away. Thanks!
This was so incredible to watch that I almost forgot to breathe! Absolutely unreal stuff!
Wow wow wow, Ide-San, what an absolute legend. Incredible man.
That’s keeps my mind busy, it’s unreal.
That Ferrari IDE Enzo is beautiful I can’t express how nice his touches are with previous design inspos
Ide-san is the GOAT. Impeccable craftsmanship!
Wow 🙉 now that's a real tuner on another level 🇯🇵 👍
Ferrari should reward ide san and his company for making the some of the ferrari units much more reliable technical japanese thingy
Love how the Enzo cranked over, it fired right up faster than my Miata. What a piece of work. The shop, the history, this is art that is alive!
