Max Orido, Taniguchi Nob, Keiichi Tsuchiya. The three musketeers who probably impacted and influenced every petrolheads life, especially if you're a JDM fan.
@@charlesballiet7074Technically Takumi wouldn't exist without Keiichi Tsuchiya as Keiichi Tsuchiya provided feedback for the manga and he even voiced himself in one of the first episodes of the anime.
Keiichi Tsuchyia, Max Orido, Nobuteru Taniguchi, Tatsuru Ichishima, Yoshiharu Fujita, Junichi Umemoto, Kazuhiko "Smokey" Nagata, some of the names that really shaped the JDM culture for me, countless hours checking videos, builds, magazines. All together it made me a massive JDM fan.
This video was EPIC Larry, such good awesome content with heroes I love from Best motoring. Just next need one with Tsuchiya san and talking about his time on Tokyo drift and his cars hehe....😂👍😎🤘
I love how real they are; no it's a secret hype stuff. You walk in, ask what they are working on, and they get excited, and run over to show you their new cool thing.
The driver I can remember before these three was Kurosawa Motoharu which goes by the name as "Gan-san". His racing history, skills and style had shown how brave and guts he was on track. Tsuchiya Keiichi called him "Jii-sama" in the past for knowing his racing behavior on track. One of the example was suprising brave late-braking overtaking technique which caused other drivers shocked and scared. And other was fierce blocking technique in which the opponent had to brake because too scared to pass on the inside and not enough room to overtake.
The nickname Tsuchiya gave Gan-san wasn't G-sama it was 'jii-sama' (じいさま), basically respectfully teasing him for being an old man (compared to Tsuchiya at the time). A lot of the other BM casters referred to him as oyaji as well given he was a member of the elder statesmen of Japanese racers (along with Moto Kitano Moto, Kunimitsu Takahashi, or Masahiro Hasemi).
MAX and NOB are one of my favorites. Also Hattori, Kurosawa (father and son), Kinoshita, Kazama and so many more. Just couldnt get enough of Best Motoring. Its not just the cars, but it felt like friends doing what they love.
This is such a pleasure, thank you Hagerty! To be able to see these legends, ultimate legends, is so wild. They are such huge influence in the car world. Hats off to Hagerty for sharing this 😊
I wonder if Daigo could've done something else instead of goin TT. Those NA 6.2 AMGs especially in their GT3 form are absolute monsters n sound rowdy as hell! If I remember correctly the GT cars have the engines further inwards compared to their road goin counterparts so that its more balanced. Weistec has a supercharger kit for the SLS which bumps standard SLS's power to around 850bhp. So I'm sure they'll be able to get at least another 100bhp more outta it from the race car. They sound insane too. TTs muffle that glorious engine sounds.
up to this day I still love watching old videos and wait for all their new stuff, each one with their own and collab channels, Japanmotorhead runs are amazing, watching Tsuchiya kick the nuts of Orido was always hilarious 😂, they shaped a big part of how I see cars and tuning
Larry. When I clicked on the threads link I had no idea I would be seeing a stunning S15. For the split second it took for the video to load I thought about how I fell in love with the S15 featured on some best motoring videos.
Wow, amazing video, but Keiichi is not on the video 😢 Orido and NOB are amazing drivers and the quality on their cars is something amazing. Thanks Larry
D.K. has always been a pretty busy guy (car reviews, managing a racing team, car shows, etc) while also being the most reserved out of the Hot Version trio. Though Larry has a video with him doing stuff with the Ioniq 5N on his personal channel.
what great content, 3 Legends indeed, use to go to Superautobac in Stanton California to get the latest BEST MOTORING DVD TO WATCH NOB, MAX, AND DIAGO. What a time to be into the JDM scene. Great to see there all still involved with the JDM scene NOBS S15 is absurdly clean AF
I used to drive from The Bronx to EWA hobby shop in New Jersey just to buy Best Motoring dvds. That was back in 2001 after I bought Gran Turismo 3. I was looking in a car magazine(Super Street or Honda Tuning) and saw an ad from EWA. I then went to buy the Super GT300 G’Zox NSX. Walked around to another shelf, saw the Drift Bible dvd and was like what’s this? Hooked from then on. I moved to Australia back in 2008 and just this year at world Time Attack at Sydney Motorsport Park. Got to meet and take a picture of Keiichi Tsuchiya before he went drifting in the Hyundai N EV! So cool to meet your heros. :)
Daigo Saito shop, what the heck bro? Insane! This is one epic episode, thank you for sharing. IMO, you doing great to always making a subtle approach and not force the scene, just let it be without trying to pre-set the shots. 👍
That’s awesome man. Good job. I don’t consider myself that old but during all my deployments I remember watching all the dvds on import mag and others. I remember very well some of the drift videos of him in it. Thanx for that you got me through some hard times and made the memories good. 👍
Those two Miatas are what most of the actual drift cars I have seen look like... Man I wish I had access to a shop like those... even just for one year... The fun i could have! Imagine the confidence you must have to leave your classic 50s station wagon sitting out right next to drifting cars 🤣
You can't help but to absolutely love Japan and the Japanese culture... So much pride and time goes into so much there, and it shows. Once upon a time, that's how it was in America. If you seen that made in America stamp on it, you knew it would last. Good on Japan to never give up that pride in quality.
*Amazing* content... just ridiculously cool... Larry's face was priceless! 😂 I don't really label myself as a JDM fan, but then again maybe I am, I have a 1MZ swapped MR2 and a Suzuki Carry pickup!
Please do more Racing driver like Mr Kuniaki Takahashi or Kunnyz his aristo always be my dream car.. People really slept on unique drift chassis like that
I am fans of Hot Version trio since long time, especially with Tsuchiya-san. I hope Taniguchi and Orido also can be widely known around the world like Tsuchiya-san. 😄👍

They should have whole freaking Netflix series based on their story as how jdm evolved from 80-90s to present day racing shops. Would be so good to see and be a part of that.
Max Orido, Taniguchi Nob, Keiichi Tsuchiya. The three musketeers who probably impacted and influenced every petrolheads life, especially if you're a JDM fan.
what about takumi fugiwara?

Gan San is one of the gods but he wasn't really responsible for JDM culture imo
Hagerty is the new best auto format. You guys are bringing in the experts who know Best & Option DVD & are speaking the culture!
Dino and Larry together are so great!
Such a grate coincidence, Nobuteru aka NOB. He was born to be champion.
12:07 I would have given him a hug for the people. I CANT WAIT TO SEE THAT!!!!! THANK YOU!
Grew up watching these videos. Classics!
Epic Larry, just Epic! Such an awesome journey covering the JDM culture.

that smile on Daigo Saito's face after the drift!! that is life!

Dai's place is bonkers. Those orange Skylines are some of the sickest builds I've ever seen anywhere. Great taste in Ferraris, too. What a legend.
Yepp, Larry really did enjoy the drifting session in the Miata... 😂😁🤟
Larry Chen’s content is consistently well filmed, unique and engaging
Thank you.! To relive and see the JDM D1 legends again - made my week! That S15 - wow, WOW!
Thanks Larry, you never disappoint us with your videos!!
Nob and Keiichi are my JDM hero...I learned so much about performance driving from them.
Another great culture video by Larry.
Such a good video Larry. Your team is one of the best at capturing the iconic 90s JDM car culture. Thank you 🙏
