I’ve carried the Samsung Galaxy Fold for eight months … and, as of today, I’ve carried the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 for about eight hours. That’s not enough time for me to fully review this two-thousand dollar smartphone (or even take a shower, as it turns out) - but it’s plenty of time for me to answer some of the most popular questions you’ve been tossing to me on Twitter. @@TheMrMobile I like folding tech. But I'm not sure phones have the greatest application for it. That middle looks unsightly. The Note just looks better to me. I used to rock the Galaxy note 8. It was big. But sturdy. Maybe I'm old fashioned and just don't like the idea of a screen folding. lol XD

Phone prices really just bifurcated! You can spend $2000 on a commercially available device! And you'll get features at that price point that are absent any of the lower ones. But... you can also pay around $350 ($400 if you prefer Apple) and get a full phone experience that's actually really good!
@@RegisBodnar i agree to your sentiment here just I'm trying to say is that flagship prices are breaking new barrier everyday as phones are touching "LUXURY" status... the experience on other side of the spectrum is quite compromised.
@@raunakkukreja3336 I mean... My Pixel 4a doesn't have wireless charging, a telephoto/wide angle lens, an SoC that'll run the most intense games at 2k 120hz, or 8+ GB Ram, etc... But it's perfectly adequate for my day to day use (literally never feels slow...), has better battery life than most flagships, takes the best pictures of almost any phone and feels good in the hand. The a-series Pixels, in particular, feel more like bug fixes for their non-a-series counterparts than anything.
The iPhone SE is basically a brand new full price iPhone with a smaller battery, far fewer sensors, and older design that it's full price counterparts.
Samsung is definitely and always has been cramming features into their devices, though... Most of them so useless that they're no longer available... But the foldable display is definitely no gimmick, tho!
tl;dr I definitely get what you mean, but there's nothing WRONG or GLARINGLY MISSING from the lower midrange ($350 is the start of the lower midrange, right?)
@@RegisBodnar You forget one thing. Just as Samsung did with the original fold, they're not targeting regular consumers with tight wallets. This is a premium device targeted at enthusiasts and "rich guys". For a regular experience, anyone knows where to find a cheaper smartphone that suits their needs
I actually love that concept of „flex mode“. It might not be perfect yet, but IMO that’s the way to go with a foldable like that. We just getting started! -excellent review!

Excellent hands on video! Samsung made a huge improvement with this phone! If they are actually going to bring a Snapdragon version to the EU, that could be a breakthrough!

Awesome video Michael! I'm so happy with the generational leap between the Fold and Fold2 and you captured that beautifully.
I was waiting for this from you, especially after watching your coverage the original Fold. I have been impatiently waiting for the Z Fold 2 all year but I finally got to pre order it yesterday & I can't wait to get my hands on it! I feel exactly the same as you, something like Buds Live or Watch 3 should have been included especially when the vastly cheaper Note 20 Ultra came with Buds Live in the UK and as you said last year's Fold came with the latest Buds. The "rich guy" pass is worthless to this "ordinary gal".
I know this is old, but Samsung knew full well that the phone alone could sell itself at $2K juuuuuuust fine. You literally being a textbook example of that. 🤷 It was arguably the single most "tech geek desirable gadget" of all of 2020, and tbh it's not even particularly close either (sorry current gen game consoles).
Fold 1 otoh was a super new, largely untested concept with a MILLION unknowns and 1st gen quirks/compromises. In that case, Samsung knew that they had to sweeten the deal a good bit to get people to take a chance on something risky and totally unproven.
Fold 2 though, was not that. Fold 2 was a massively appealing & improved 2nd gen device in a now proven concept which just oozed gadget lust on an absolutely unbelievably level. People were gonna buy it, included Galaxy Buds or not.

When you’re holding it in “unfolded” mode, and using all the screen, does the hinge lock firmly into place?
I feel like, I grip my phone fairly firmly with pressure inward from both of my hands, and I would hate always feel like the phone felt like it was suddenly going to fold and snap shut, or even worse, bend in the wrong direction and damage it
Do you think that would be a valid concern for a user like me?

It doesn't make sense to not include a spen on the fold, or is it just me?
Could be because the screen is softer and more prone to indents/scratching. But seems like a no-brainer inclusion.
