literally came here immediately after watching the samsung live event on the flip 4; you're the best coverage i've found on foldables, and have really changed my mind about them (negative to positive)
Negative to Positive...🤔 Not for me. Concept is interesting but issues with screen and support services are really not good. 👎🏿I can't buy a device at this price and have fear of lack of support if Fold has a problem. Samsung have to give confidence to people with a quality support service. Don't you think ?🤔

I highly appreciate the discussion about Samsung's customer service issues at the beginning. Especially when you get to smaller countries like here in New Zealand or even smaller countries than mine, we really get shafted, and it's wildly disappointing. Funny that we get all the Chinese phones over here but still none of their foldables. I'm thinking of buying a Fold 4 to replace my now-dying Note 9 (our choices over here are basically Samsung, Apple, and most of the Chinese brands, the latter of which I'd rather avoid), but I worry about customer service and longevity for the price. Really, what we need (as mentioned in the video) is more competition!
I know we're a lot bigger comparatively bit I've had no issues here in aus. Two day turnaround for my Fold3 screen protector. Still unacceptable with how expensive this thing is but ... I can tolerate two days.

Yup. My Flip 3's protector screen is cracked slightly and it was PITA to even find out whether Samsung in Norway has a free protector service. They do, but in order for me to change it i have to first give the phone to the store i bought the phone from, which then will be shipped 300km+ away to a service hub. Then that most likely will be shipped again, all the way to Sweden in order to actually be serviced because that hub cannot service Samsung products apparently. I had to change a battery on my left Buds+ and that is the way it was shipped, and it took over 3 weeks to get it back... Just incredibly inefficient for something that takes 5 min to do.
I love the honesty and experience that you're able to provide. I've seen far too many videos from youtubers who have only used their phone for the week-long testing period, just enough to basically make a video. It's pretty rare to see a video with long term use, so it's really hard to find people's long term experience with such device. I don't see enough upgrades from last year's Flip 3 to make an upgrade. The last two years have been extremely slow in further developments of phones as it's been all refinements. I'm not complaining though, any improvement is good improvement.
There's rarely any big changes in one year. It's very incremental. But it's fine for average consumers, because they don't upgrade every year. I still have note 10 plus, and even though my sister said she will buy me a new phone, since it's been 3 years, I really have no issues with current phone. Still looks and feels new
@@radiofreealbemuth i pre order flip4 but i still love using my note8 it just that the power and bixy botton falls off 🙃 maybe because of years on spigen case. The screen is really tough despite the years of abuse i keep dropping it😊.
Got the Z Flip 1 and held off until the 4. While nothing is perfect, it is a vast improvement, on a phone I was honestly already happy with. Love the flip phone form factor!
That's how a review is done giving a great and an actual feedback on the previous generation z fold/flip and a sneak peak of the newer models That's some great work sir.
The wordsmith strikes back. This is such a soliloquy by you Michael, such crisp video including 4 reviews and an incident, but so so well written, the story telling is immersive. I am sure the editing must have been mind-boggling, because the sync between sound and what happens on the screen during the narration is so supremely matched. Awesome work as always
Micheal, I've been watching you for years and have spread to my friends how you are my fav phone reviewer and tester. Because of you, I bought my first foldable Moto R 5G 2 years ago(still have it), LG wing, and galaxy Z flip 3. I'm a psychology university student and author. These phones have made my work, writing, and life much easier. Love your content as always as I see the quality and effort placed into your scripts as well as the unbiased opinions and facts relation your content follows and showcases. Thank you, as always, for your professionally entertaining and informative content.
I know its small, but the new ones do look a quite bit more refined than last gen. Slimming the hinge makes it look less like a toy from the side and the front screen being slightly wider makes it look less like a gimmick of a front screen. I am excited for it
I agree with you about Samsung's overall support system. Recently, my S21+ started getting glitchy and the cellular coverage began to get spotty, so I started claim hoping for a quick and easy replacement since I opted for Samsung insurance which had me covered. Well, let's just say that problem didn't get solved until some back and forth communication involving me sending various documents multiple times took place. Not to mention I had to get a manager to assure me that my inquiry got resolved. Their customer service overall seems very fragmented and disorganized. I hope they take some pointers from Apple and refine the system or else people will naturally gravitate towards a company who takes of things more seamlessly.
I always feel lucky when i watch videos on Folds and Flips. Ive had my Fold 3 since last October and im far from gentle with it, and the only damage mine has recieved is a small scuff on the corner of the frame after a bad drop. I still love being able to know the drawbacks of this tech in its 3rd year/4th version. I believe Foldables are the future and i cant wait to see how they progress
So will you be daily driving the 4th Gen ones or sticking with the 3’s? I wouldn’t blame you if it was the latter because of how iterative these look overall. Great video as usual and great points especially with the repair process
@@trstnhn Well, Mr. Mobile doesn't always play by the normal rules. He has a lot of older tech and sometimes uses new stuff that others wouldn't. So, I think it was a fair question. He also said in the video that the updates seemed fairly minor for the new generation.
Can we all appreciate how good Michael has been doing on his video editing skills since the start of Into the Fold? Timestamp 9:30 was a wizard fever dream of a transition. I can't wait for the full review of the Fold4/Flip4!!!
Great video! I actually got a Z Fold 3 after watching your video on it last year and I am super happy I did. Even after having my phone get cooked on an electric burner while open, the interior screen was fine along with all the interior hardware and no lag or issues with the operating system. I travel a lot and it is amazing for subbing in place of my laptop, and I end up talking to people about it when they see me open it up to read my book while on the plane. After seeing this video, I am definitely going to upgrade eventually, but I may wait until the fold 5 comes along (whenever that will be). Keep up the great work!
MrMo, I've been following your journey using the Fold and it eventually led me to buy the Fold 3 after skipping the first 2 iterations. Your issues on the screen protector on the Fold 3 are very similar to mine. The difference has been that Samsung Service Centers are much easier to find in Asia (I now live in Bangkok, Thailand.I've previously lived in Hong Kong and Singapore) As a long time user of Galaxy S series, it is quite easy to get replacement parts and screen protectors. Perhaps, Samsung needs to invest more in the US to give more consistent service in the States.
As a longtime mobile geek I sometimes feel like a 13 years old at my favourite band’s concert watching these videos. Like I’m about to scream in awe. I subscribed for WHEN PHONES WERE FUN and stayed for mrMobile's style and personality. Wish you the best, sir. Thank you for the quality
I feel you have a point with Samsung slowing down the evolution of their fold devices. Incremental improvements on the previous iteration of the folds, just feels a little disappointing from Samsung.
Yeah, I was hoping this year would be the year I upgrade to a fold, but I'll probably just wait till next year now. I know if I buy it it will need to last at least 2-3 years, and I dont know if the crease would really hold up that long.
Well, I had a similar experience with my Fold 3. Disclaimer-u babied it from day 1 - case, wiped it every day, opened and closed it very carefully, even took the time to dust it out with compressed air once in a while. At the 6 months mark the screen protector for the inside screen gave out ( exactly like yours ). 3-4 days after the small mark appeared the protector made the inside screen unusable. Went to the Samsung store nearby and they gave me 2 options - either have the whole screen replaced for free under warranty, or..and this i find stupid, pay for the screen protector replacement. Didn't want the hassle to change the screen ( that meant leaving the phone with them for about 3 to 5 days ) and opted to replace the protector. They did the operation in less than an hour, and it was about 30 euros for the inside one, and 10 for the outside screen ( decided to refresh that one aswell ). What was a bit worrying was that the only prices they had on the screen were fold 1,2,3 and flip screen protectors. So...i deduce that this is a frequent occurrence. Although i like the concept of a folding phone, I'm gonna probably skip a couple of generations until they come up with a better solution. Not worth thr hassle for me at least. LE - i am from eastern europe ( romania )
After watching all of your into the fold videos and how much you like the folds and flips I went and brought my self a fold 4 pretty much off your excitement. I enjoy all of your videos and it shows that you love tech. It doesn't matter who makes it you just seam to have a genuine love for it. Keep up the good work.
I agree with you that this year's Fold and Flip editions are a little disappointing in the innovation department. If I wanted to see only one improvement, it would be a less visible crease - and we haven't got this change. I'd still take the Fold 3 or 4 over the competition's foldable device because samsung is miles ahead in everything but the crease. Those Oppo etc. devices are available in my market so I tried them all for short times and can say they're not very good. But I love that you constructively point out all the bad stuff on Samsung's side without hating at them and acknowledging the pros and cons. Someone should offer you your own tv show because your production value is so high and your videos are entertaining and informative along with fantastic camera, cutting and even acting. Yeah, only a fraction of people are lucky to get their tv show but you are one of those people who would deserve it.
I have to hope that next year we see a marked improvement (much less visible hinge, no gap when folded, wider aspect ratio, s pen in the body). At the moment, these things combined are preventing me from biting (at the high asking price).
i only dont agree with the wider aspect ratio because wider it gets, smaller 16:9 videos become. I also hope the speakers get better, samsung is always behind apple and zenfones when it comes to speakers :/
Won’t be any improvements. Every product Samsung makes is the exact same thing yearly now. No Android competition in US/West because of politics so no need to innovate and improve.
As an owner of the z fold 3, I'm really disappointed to see that the 4 didn't even have a batter bump. I'm happy the tech is still going, but really don't want to see the tech plateau after such a successful upgrade from 2 to 3.
I bought a used Fold 3 6 months ago for $1k and so far so good. I always thought I'd buy a used Fold 4 in January 2023 for around the same price but now, I don't really see a point to doing that. It's the same phone.
I own both the Fold 3 and the Flip 3 I was going to upgrade the Fold when the Fold 4 came out However, based on the small amounts of change that has gone into the new one, I don’t think it’s worth the money I’d spend on it
This is the review I needed to make my decision that the fold 4 is for me. Hearing that they are not as sensitive as everyone says is very reassuring especially for the price.
Your voice sounded sooo optimistic in this video😁😉. Btw I love watching your "Into the Fold" series👍🤘 I think I'll just keep my Fold3 for at least one more year. 🖖 From a 50 year young Norwegian subscriber 🇧🇻
What made you do it?? I am literally on the edge right now. I also have the note 20 ultra and and failing to find the reason that will make me do the pre-order. Ugh!!!!!
100% accurate and in agreement when it comes to repair for these phones. My Fold 3 also started to experience the protector film coming off. Called Samung only to be told to go to UbreakIFix and went to 3 different stores. 2 of them said they don't do repairs for the Fold series, the other said "Sure, but we won't get any for a couple weeks if not months." Called Samsung again and they said welp just wait a few weeks then. Which was around April. I have yet to get it replaced. Can't imagine what it would have been like if the phone had an actual hardware issue. Worst experience. Highly recommend not getting these phones because of the support. Truly unfortunate.
I'm going to pass on it this year and wait for the Fold 5. If it had a silo for the S Pen and more or less the S22 Ultra cameras (I'm fine with the main one being a 50 MP), I would have gone for it. Sticking with my Surface Duo 2 and S22 Ultra.
Loved how you did this. Doing a Year Later review, along with a 1st impression for the new one helps a whole lot! Keep it going with the Pixel 7 series!
Compare this video to every other impressions video, including MKBHD. The story-telling, editing and overall quality of Mr Mobile's videos is light-years ahead of anyone else, no one comes close.
I just got my flip 4 as my first folding smart phone, and as long as I don't have any big issues with durability or build quality, then I don't see myself ever going back to a slab phone.
I have a Fold 3 and have loved the hell out of it. Around 8 months in, the inner display started cracking so I got it replaced under warranty. Samsung really backs their devices and I have had really good luck with all of their phones.
Thanks for your coverage Michael, especially about your experience with both foldables after a year of use and about the customer service in your region, from what I've read, Samsung still has lots of room for improvement in this regard. I also switched to the Fold 3 and have been using it for almost a year as my only phone now. It's a great device, reminding me a lot of my older Nokia Communicators and it has been running pretty much flawlessly. Have been using it without a case, without any other sort of protection and had three pretty harsh drops so far - the device still works as it should and the visual damage is minimal. The front display has a pretty deep scratch as well as some smaller scratches, which makes me wonder about the actual scratch resistence of that Gorilla Glas. I also noticed a drop in battery performance on my Fold 3, even though I have been using the battery protection charging to 85% only. For me the Fold 4 seems fairly lackluster, I hoped for a slightly wider device instead of just decreased bezels. So far I see fairly little reason upgrading to the new Fold.
I replaced my Z Flip3 screen protector with a matte one from Amazon, and it worked pretty well! I don't have to worry about scracthes and fingernail scratching because it's matte and it seems like it heals on its own unlike a glossy one. On the other hand, I'm getting a Fold 4 and I don't know what to expect about its durability, and the Flip3 has been very durable for me! It's been abused and taken into dusty terrains where the U.S. Army took me. I don't use cases as well. Peeling off never happened with the matte screen protector I've used. It's been 6th month, I haven't used the included replacement one from this Amazon seller
I do kinda love the idea of vlogging with the cameras and outside screen of the Fold, but I also freaking love the Peak Design case on my S21 Ultra, haha. I suspect I'll just wait for the S23 Ultra. We'll see...
Your reviews about the Z Flip 3 was the reason I got this phone and I am hooked, hook line and the entire rod. I can't imagine using a normal phone going forward. The folding is so part of live now I need to make sure I don't try and fold my wife's phone after using it. Thank you for all you in depth reviews, it helps a lot.
The fold 4 which is what I have now has bugs and glitches everyday it started happening after 2 months of usage,I regret trading in my iPhone 12 Pro Max for the fold, the battery isn’t that great either,
@@trillysticky9529 I’m on my 2nd replacement fold since I got protection plan but it’s also resorting back to having bugs and glitches like frozen screen and now a battery overheatage after only 30 min of use plus battery drain is making it go down even quicker, just unlocking my phone is one percent lost, games r absolutely useless as it crashes every hour and social media I stop using it after it crashes after 1 or 2 norm day of use now I just use social media on my iPad or iPhone. I’m prob gonna have to replace it again which will make it my 3rd fold smh 🤦♂️ regret buying this phone tbh
I live in Zürich and have the same exact experience with my Flip 3 screen protector. After contacting Samsung they told me to go to a 3rd party shop which actually had no equipment to fix the problem, nor a replacement phone. But recommended I should go directly to Samsung's service point and this is where I got it fixed in an hour, everything applied perfectly. Funny Samsung does not say to go there in the first place but sends people to some random 3rd party shops.
The inner screen protector on the fold 3 seems to be an epidemic. It happened to me too. I wonder if Samsung should issue a recall or offer free fixes.
I'm on a flip 3 now, the flip 5g I had last years screen protector bubbling on the crease was the reason I had to have it replaced. -in England, that was a trip. Think we had 4 samsung stores in the country in total On the flip3 now and just peeled it off before it could cause any harm. I didn't realise the screen protectors were a warranty item so I may get it replaced. I was gonna leave it off as its not done any harm without it. Even on the last one, it didn't get any extra damage without it.
@@braderley If you get it replaced, consider leaving it on. Flip 3 (and 4) uses a PET protector that's much less vulnerable to lifting - although as you can see from this video, the 3 isn't immune.
@@TheMrMobile thanks for the reply :) I've had this 3 since November when I landed in the states, but it started bubbling 3 weeks ago and had two small horizontal cracks in it, I was terrified of it cracking and prodding the screen lol Thanks to your video, I'm gonna get on the care app and see about getting a new one put on. Thanks again for the info, LOVE your European Nokia coverage by the way. I'm lucky to have owned a fair amount of all the ones you covered! :)
I've had the Fold 3 for a year and I'm extremely happy with it. I'm lucky in not having the screen protector start peeling or my screen failing. I have also noticed the lower battery life recently for some reason. Not sure if it's a software update or the battery aging. I use mine a lot and quite heavily and it's even been dropped a couple times.. The only complaint I have is more a Verizon programming issue in regards to the fact it will cling desperately to a 1 bar 5g signal instead of going to the 5 bar 4g lte one just to keep saying "5g" on the screen despite the fact it's basically useless
Damn... I've been looking forward to bigger generational improvements. How long can I keep my Note 20 Ultra pressed into service lol. Hopefully the RAZR 3 will actually be worth the upgrade.
I'm here with my S9, probably keeping it another year. Was really hoping for much better specs or a better price. Hopefully the fold 5 has the OPPO hinge, no noticeable camera, and a lower price.
Eventually I want a folding phone it seems like a really cool concept. I'm curious to see how the durability has improved from the 3rd to the 4th gen with the inside screen. If the phone was $1200 I can see it being worth it but $1800 for next to no innovation 😮💨
I'm with you on the price tag of the Fold4. I want one because I use my tablet a lot so combining phone and tablet is a no brainer for me. But I can't do the price. Even on pre-order, nope. I went with the flip4 just to dip my toe in the foldable scene. If that goes well, we'll consider the Fold down the line...maybe. haha
I love my ZFlip 3. I got it after watching your review and tbh, I'm not envious of the new variants. So no FOMO. Also, the best thing is still slamming it shut when ending an angry call. I missed that more than I thought :)
@@pmwaffle9348 that may be true but tbh, not had any issue with the battery life. I tend to throw it on a wireless charger when I'm at my desk. Unsure what the UK tradin would be, sure it would be similar after tax.
I'm so glad that you brought up the 'not a valid model' error message. I was so annoyed by it when I tried to look up options when my screen protector on my flip3 began to lift. Within a week it was fully lifted across the centre. I was told the closest place to repair it is an hour and a half drive away so I'm just living with it miserably until I have another reason to go out that way. I still love my flip 3, it's a conversation starter. People come up to me and ask to see it (especially people who were born post-clamshells, what I would give to be that young). I find I take more calls on it because it's also more comfortable in general for phone calls. I still like how much I can do without opening the phone. My biggest complaint on that front is that I wish there were more app options for the front screen widgets (like waze or casting controls). One thing you didn't mention, and may it's just me experiencing it but I've been having a screen flicker situation where it's like it can't decide if it wants to split screen or not and will keep reverting to full screen then half then full until I finally give up and straighten it. I find this happens randomly in some apps but almost always happens in document editors (docs, word, onenote etc).
I love the fold 3 but after a few months at the beginning of the year with it, I had to swap it to a s22 Ultra. The battery and camera were just lacking and no s pen were deal breaker. I think the fold 4 still needs a better camera. It's still not even as good as an s21 Ultra from 2 years ago. I love the amazing display and the thin outer display is super useful one handed but just to many sacrifices for me. But once Samsung goes all in on it, I could see foldables being a huge thing in 3 or 4 years.
Do you like the s22u much more, about equal, or less than the z fold 3? I've been tossing this idea around in my head for a bit and could use some more feedback from someone who had dealt with both phones for a decent amount of time... Thanks in advance!
@@23Guitardood I like the 22ultra more. I'm not gonna lie the fold 3 is amazing to watch videos or game on but the huge display don't really do much 80% of the time when you are just on social media, plus let's face it, it's a cool flex when everyone else has a regular phone and you pull out this monster and unfold it, and one handed use on the front narrow screen is really fun and useful. But the cons were just too much. Mediocre camera, no s pen, terrible battery.... like loses half the battery in 2 or 3 hours in some cases. And just some odd things... like it's so heavy my regular magnetic phone mounts won't hold it while driving and it's a giant and heavy phone. I would say it's a generation or 2 away from being great. S22 ultra camera is just amazing and battery is much better and charges much faster.
@@ricksilvas855 i agree fully. For some reason we keep saying it's 1 or 2 generations from being great. It's mostly because support from 3rd parties is still lacking and the design is not improved on in any meaningful way. Battery being the same, camera still lacking compared to flagships, for me the z3 also gets really hot sometimes (probably due to some apps not being optimised). Now they change the aspect ratio AGAIN, keep design and battery the same. I am sad to say I will leave my z3 behind and upgrade to the proven and boring end of the year. Samsung should've really done more in the 4 years to advance and perfect the foldable concept.
@@peterhahn8280 I agree just not a very polished experienceyet. I would have odd issues. Sometimes going opening up the device it would randomly ask me to unlock the phone again when I gad unlocked it from the front narrow screen just a moment before, also random long pauses for the big display to kinda wake up when transitioning to it. A lot of apps just run kinda funny with the bigger screen or you have dead space on thr side making it kinda pointless to have such a big screen if I can't always use it.
Man, the alliteration that starts at 1:45 Just makes me so happy. LoL I know that this is nothing new with him, nor is it new with Zack Nelson over at Jerry Rig, but it still makes me smile every time. 😊😊😅😅😂😂
I like that the (hardware) improvement between Fold 3 and Fold 4 is incremental. The phone is too damned expensive to replace after just a year. Now I do not feel like missing out too soon, spoiling my enjoyment of essentially still a brandnew phone. It is fragile, I dropped it once, on concrete, in the beginning before I could receive its wallet case and the backside glass cracked horribly. Samsung Care+ helped me well, without any hassle. They picked it up and I got it back within a week as completely new (which I suspect it actually was), costing me less than $150. Since then I had it in a cover and never had any problems again. In risky environments I revert to using my trusted Note 9, though. The Fold's price and fragility forces me to treat it as a Bentley SUV and allows me to treat my Note 9 as a second hand Ford pickup truck. Couldn't imagine owning any other phone anymore. Until there comes a Fold with a built-in S-Pen. And I wouldn't mind the price dropping to around $1,000. Only using my laptop for very specific and long duration tasks. Everything else I'm doing on my Fold 3.
I live in Australia and got my fold 3 repaird 2 days ago. Dropped it off at the Samsung store and it was ready the day after. I had issues with my wifi antenna, but they also put on a new screen and batteries free of charge with warranty. Feels like a new phone.
I have the Fold 3 and love mine. I have never gone back to a smaller phone, I use this for everything. I do have an iPhone and a Motorola Edge 5GuW as well. Taken care of each device! My Fold 3 still has a PERFECT hinge! Even without the protection over the screen! And if you were to ever read a book and put it on a mp3 or CD, you would be amazing with it!
i have now used the zfold 4 for a while these are my opinions the screen is flawless it's just perfect no complaints there the design feels much easier to hold than past devices i still hate the half folded down and the asymmetrical design though the size is where the problem starts it feels tiny even folded out making me not feel much need to fold it out it's basically a gimmick for me but i do feel it holds much more value for the money than a regular smartphone where you're paying over 1500 just for a better processor at that point a foldable is the better choice, no smartphone should cost over 800 today when theres foldables
I had a great experience getting my fold fixed, talked on the phone a bit, printed a shipping label and sent it, a week later I got my phone back fixed
Got rid of my flip 3 because I have never experienced worse battery life on a phone. From 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon with all extra features turned off and without even using the phone at ALL the phone dropped to 40 percent battery life
So I have the ZFlip 3 since launch and when it turned 1yo, that pre-applied screen protector started peeling all over the crease. Warranty apparently does not cover it and Samsung service says I can now either pay to replace it, or pay to remove it (this means forfeiting warranty, as its not allowed to be removed). I am just going to keep it as is because everyone asks to see and open it, and I will have the opportunity to tell them about this problem so they don’t bite like I did. I’ve been usign Samsung since the S3 and have been through all of the decline in quality/service, so this was the last straw for me.
They're exactly the same devices from last year with a tiny bit of improvement. So nothing too noteworthy but at least now the flip 4 finally seems usable with it's bigger battery. But repairability is something that's always gonna be a hassle when you've got non standard phones.
I needed a new screen protector for my Fold 3 in London. The Samsung store at Kings Cross was excellent (bought my sister an A22 while I was there). Battery life is diabolical. I've given up using Strava on long rides.

Can't wait for your videos on these, your foldable coverage is the best in the business :)
Especially for foldable! His love for them definately shows through in the reviews.
Indeed it is😁
Idk about the “best” 😂
@@RenFlames The best like we've said
I love the honesty and experience that you're able to provide.
Having missed your content for about an year, I can tell that your effort in scripting your videos is worth it Michael! Good to be back!
You know he LOVES his flip and fold but he has no issue calling out that the 4 is a bit disappointing. The kind of review I expect from Mr Mobile 👍🏼
I agree. I checked out both today. Unimpressed.
That's how a review is done giving a great and an actual feedback on the previous generation z fold/flip and a sneak peak of the newer models
That's some great work sir.
The amount of swag in your videos is still unmatched! 😝 Review is secondary.
So will you be daily driving the 4th Gen ones or sticking with the 3’s? I wouldn’t blame you if it was the latter because of how iterative these look overall. Great video as usual and great points especially with the repair process
Going to main the 4th generation, both to stay current and to enjoy the new features.
@@TheMrMobile And to test that new inner screen protector. I'd like to see how/if it ages any better.
@@TheMrMobile What will you do with the old devices? What do you do with all your old stuff? Sounds like a fun video idea.
Did u really ask a content creator if he's going to be rocking a 1 year old device for another year?
@@trstnhn Well, Mr. Mobile doesn't always play by the normal rules. He has a lot of older tech and sometimes uses new stuff that others wouldn't. So, I think it was a fair question. He also said in the video that the updates seemed fairly minor for the new generation.
watching your videos is like reading one of those early 2000s magazine review, in the best and classiest way ever.
@GH0STST4RSCR34M and there’s nothing much else you can even do with them. The tech has peaked
Yeah, I was hoping this year would be the year I upgrade to a fold, but I'll probably just wait till next year now. I know if I buy it it will need to last at least 2-3 years, and I dont know if the crease would really hold up that long.
@@anthonyr1479 you mean innovation has peaked? Still no though. Innovation hasn't peaked, and neither has refinement.
@@trstnhn yes innovation in phones has peaked for a very long time
Well, I had a similar experience with my Fold 3.

You are, hands down, the BEST tech review in the game. Keep up the great work and don't ever change to chase more subscribers.
After watching all of your into the fold videos and how much you like the folds and flips I went and brought my self a fold 4 pretty much off your excitement. I enjoy all of your videos and it shows that you love tech. It doesn't matter who makes it you just seam to have a genuine love for it. Keep up the good work.
UA-cam king of foldables is back with another video 👑
👍🏾
Appreciate you talking about customer service.
First time in your channel. In two minutes and forty-six seconds I did hit that subscribe button. This is the review I was looking for! Thank you!
I have to hope that next year we see a marked improvement (much less visible hinge, no gap when folded, wider aspect ratio, s pen in the body). At the moment, these things combined are preventing me from biting (at the high asking price).
Fingerprint on the screen also!
Yes!
Same, I'm still waiting
i only dont agree with the wider aspect ratio because wider it gets, smaller 16:9 videos become. I also hope the speakers get better, samsung is always behind apple and zenfones when it comes to speakers :/
Won’t be any improvements. Every product Samsung makes is the exact same thing yearly now. No Android competition in US/West because of politics so no need to innovate and improve.
You the Ironman of phone reviews.
As an owner of the z fold 3, I'm really disappointed to see that the 4 didn't even have a batter bump. I'm happy the tech is still going, but really don't want to see the tech plateau after such a successful upgrade from 2 to 3.
Michel following you since 10+ years your the best !
I bought a used Fold 3 6 months ago for $1k and so far so good. I always thought I'd buy a used Fold 4 in January 2023 for around the same price but now, I don't really see a point to doing that. It's the same phone.
Watching Michael Fisher's review is like giving your mind a spa. I always save his reviews during chill time
i love that you always learn at least one fancy word with every video.
Seeing as how the Galaxy Fold 4 hasn't changed much from the 3, makes me want the Vivo Fold even more. Really sucks its not coming to the US.
We all know why
Yeah I'm in the same boat. I just keep hearing its not compatible with att. Either way I want the x fold. Nothing really new with the fold 4.
@@keonxd8918 Wait, Why isn't it coming to the US?
Your use of alliteration is not lost on us! Solid as always! 🖖🏾
I own both the Fold 3 and the Flip 3
I was going to upgrade the Fold when the Fold 4 came out
However, based on the small amounts of change that has gone into the new one, I don’t think it’s worth the money I’d spend on it
that's cool, which handset have you used the most of those two?
This is the review I needed to make my decision that the fold 4 is for me. Hearing that they are not as sensitive as everyone says is very reassuring especially for the price.
Still my favorite fold is the Duo 2.
I just like the two separate screens personally.
Your voice sounded sooo optimistic in this video😁😉.
Btw I love watching your "Into the Fold" series👍🤘
I think I'll just keep my Fold3 for at least one more year.

Cant wait to get my Z Fold 4 and Watch 5 Pro ! Upgrading from the Note 20 Ultra! finally ready to join the foldables!!! sooo excited !
What made you do it?? I am literally on the edge right now. I also have the note 20 ultra and and failing to find the reason that will make me do the pre-order. Ugh!!!!!
@@frankie352 all the extras u get makes the phone not too expensive.
100% accurate and in agreement when it comes to repair for these phones. My Fold 3 also started to experience the protector film coming off. Called Samung only to be told to go to UbreakIFix and went to 3 different stores. 2 of them said they don't do repairs for the Fold series, the other said "Sure, but we won't get any for a couple weeks if not months."
Called Samsung again and they said welp just wait a few weeks then.
Mkbhd videos are so causal and he puts in no efforts. Idk why he gets such a big audience tbh.
I just got my flip 4 as my first folding smart phone, and as long as I don't have any big issues with durability or build quality, then I don't see myself ever going back to a slab phone.
Well, I'm glad I jumped on the Fold 3 rather than wait for the Fold 4. I love all the extra screen space that a foldable provides
hey there ! how much screen on time are you getting ? curious to know.
Thanks.
I love how many cameos Mr Mobile squeezes into these videos -- whether it's friends, his fans, DMS, other companies, other devices!
Did you replace it because the pre-installed one peeled? Or did you replace it because you prefer the matte?
Love your videos. Esp your camera shots and scene selection is right out of a movie. All the best, Micheal.
I do kinda love the idea of vlogging with the cameras and outside screen of the Fold, but I also freaking love the Peak Design case on my S21 Ultra, haha. I suspect I'll just wait for the S23 Ultra. We'll see...
How WELL-MADE this video is seriously!!
My screen protector also came off about three months in. Removed it and used it as normal. Still working looking good about a year later.
The fold 4 which is what I have now has bugs and glitches everyday it started happening after 2 months of usage,I regret trading in my iPhone 12 Pro Max for the fold, the battery isn’t that great either,
Mine lasted 8 months. Out of nowhere black screen of death. I regret ever buying a samsung. All my iphones lasted until their batteries ran dry
I was glad to see Samsung say they've improved the adhesive for Fold 4. Time will tell if it makes the difference!
I'm on a flip 3 now, the flip 5g I had last years screen protector bubbling on the crease was the reason I had to have it replaced. -in England, that was a trip. Think we had 4 samsung stores in the country in total
On the flip3 now and just peeled it off before it could cause any harm.
I didn't realise the screen protectors were a warranty item so I may get it replaced. I was gonna leave it off as its not done any harm without it. Even on the last one, it didn't get any extra damage without it.
@@TheMrMobile I hope so! Despite the screen protector issue, I absolutely love my Fold 3
@@braderley If you get it replaced, consider leaving it on. Flip 3 (and 4) uses a PET protector that's much less vulnerable to lifting - although as you can see from this video, the 3 isn't immune.
@@TheMrMobile thanks for the reply :)
I've had this 3 since November when I landed in the states, but it started bubbling 3 weeks ago and had two small horizontal cracks in it, I was terrified of it cracking and prodding the screen lol
Thanks to your video, I'm gonna get on the care app and see about getting a new one put on.
Thanks again for the info, LOVE your European Nokia coverage by the way. I'm lucky to have owned a fair amount of all the ones you covered! :)
Michael Fisher has always been my first and best reviewer. So satisfying to watch. Love from Nigeria. Cheers
Your foldable content is some of my favorite. I bought an open box Flip 3 for $500 to replace my aging Razr 5G and I love it.
I'm still using a Note 3 lol.
it's actually really good; since the phone can't run modern apps that means it also can't run my life.
@@WahotsW hinge? Or u mean less noticeable crease. Why would Samsung use opposed hinge?
Best vids in the business. Can't believe it's been 3 years since the first fold review
If that goes well, we'll consider the Fold down the line...maybe. haha
@@soo5985 i hope the flip 4 worksout for ya
those pre-keynote commercials really oversold the upgrade 😂
I love my ZFlip 3. I got it after watching your review and tbh, I'm not envious of the new variants.
So no FOMO.
Also, the best thing is still slamming it shut when ending an angry call. I missed that more than I thought :)
It's only $100 w trade in the US which might be worth IF the battery life hits 6-8 hours sot and not ~3 hours sot/8 hours total.
@@pmwaffle9348 that may be true but tbh, not had any issue with the battery life. I tend to throw it on a wireless charger when I'm at my desk.
Unsure what the UK tradin would be, sure it would be similar after tax.
@@pmwaffle9348 100 or 1000 lol
@@23Guitardood I've been a fold 3 user for a year now. I too was tossing between that and the ultra. I'd probably go ultra if I were to do it over.
LoL
I know that this is nothing new with him, nor is it new with Zack Nelson over at Jerry Rig, but it still makes me smile every time.
Ya I'm just sticking with my Flip 3 for now.
With how expensive flagship slab phones are, I don't ever see flagship foldable phones hitting 1000.
I live in Australia and got my fold 3 repaird 2 days ago. Dropped it off at the Samsung store and it was ready the day after. I had issues with my wifi antenna, but they also put on a new screen and batteries free of charge with warranty. Feels like a new phone.
Put both of the cameras side by side I'm sure they are slightly bigger on the fold 4 than the fold 3
Only reason I came on UA-cam this morning! Exciting!
We really need a return to replaceable batteries.
Flipping 🙃 Gang
i have now used the zfold 4 for a while these are my opinions
the screen is flawless it's just perfect no complaints there
the design feels much easier to hold than past devices i still hate the half folded down and the asymmetrical design though
the size is where the problem starts it feels tiny even folded out making me not feel much need to fold it out it's basically a gimmick for me
but i do feel it holds much more value for the money than a regular smartphone where you're paying over 1500 just for a better processor at that point a foldable is the better choice, no smartphone should cost over 800 today when theres foldables
I really enjoy your reviews, how u deep dive and reveal almost Everything hiden detail on a device

I had a great experience getting my fold fixed, talked on the phone a bit, printed a shipping label and sent it, a week later I got my phone back fixed
Got rid of my flip 3 because I have never experienced worse battery life on a phone. From 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon with all extra features turned off and without even using the phone at ALL the phone dropped to 40 percent battery life
so well written and researched

Hands down thee best phone reviewer on UA-cam!
I love the production of your videos. It doesn't take much to see the time and energy you put into your vids. love it!
My favorite reviewer!
You're one of my absolute favorite reviewers and this one is not lacking! I'll not get flip or fold but will keep a pulse on 'em. :)
Wow!!! Beautiful, seamless review!!! Love it, Michael!!! ❤️
Best phone reviews bar none.
Foldabes? Even more so - thanks Michael!
