Love this book!!! I use Bernat blanket from JoAnns and Yarn Bee from Hobby Lobby. I don't have a Michaels close by. I use the 7mm and 8mm like the book says and they all turned out great!!Great Review and your Loveys turn out wonderful🥰
Those loveys are simply awesome and I really love them and I too want to have the mama made minis knotted loveys book but ordering from India is very expensive for me so I’m just waiting for the right time order the book
I love that book! One way I make sure to have the body centered to the head, was to use a stuffy stick in the head based on where they say to start the body. It has helped a ton!
Great review! I have the book. I've made the monkey, hippo and Dino. I'm a little nervous to try the other "hard" looking ones. You've inspired me to try them. Thank you!
@ yes! @mamamademinis made an awesome video for that! ua-cam.com/video/GCeN3sWJ0hk/v-deo.htmlsi=oDsOWTnV2eD9ykvs hopefully that link works but if not, google “mamamademinis attached the body to the head” and it should come up. You could also email them at patterns@mamamademinis.com. They’ll probably send you the video :)
I loved this review!! it was thorough, and well researched with all the pros and cons plus all the time you took to explain in detail how much yarn you used for each lovey and how long it took you to crochet each one and the different skills you learned along the way was inspirational. I love learning new skills and watching video's like yours. this book is on my list to get now. lol I'm inspired 😊😊
This is an amazing video, thank you so much! I bought this book about 3 months ago and haven’t made a single one yet! After seeing all your loveys made I think I want to make the lamb and the elephant first! And all your tips and suggestions are extremely helpful! Can’t wait to show my loveys on my channel! I am now a new subscriber to your channel. You definitely have impressed me! 🦋💖🦋💖
This video was so helpful! I bought the book and I am so new at crochet that I’m waiting a bit to start! Based on your review I think I’ll do the toad, hippo, and then elephant as my first three!
Fabulous review... I am asking for this book for birthday/ 4 days yahoo, Amazon prime. I will be making at least 1 for my newest grand girly who turns 5 months at Christmas. Now to decide which one!!! I sooo appreciate you giving the amount of yarn, it is the one thing missing I find consistently when I go to buy a pattern. Amount of yarn I consider to be essential info when I am considering a pattern purchase. Thank you thank you thank you.
Yes I wish there were videos attached to the book. Im making the Dino, just finished the head but Im having a hard time doing the first circle for the body that is stemming from the head.
If you go to this link ua-cam.com/users/shortsGCeN3sWJ0hk?si=eCrOUT_8U_8f43ih it will take you to a video @mamamademinis made about attaching the body to the head. You can also google “mamamademinis attach body to the head” and it will show up. Hope that helps!
I love this book, I have made so many of these and can't stop. The only thing I would say there was a tad issue for me was the nostrils on the monkey I had to line up a little just going straight through the pattern they didn't line up properly for me.
If I cut the yarn for a color change, I would tie it with another yarn string, but usually I would continue it to the next color change and it would be really loose behind the lovey. Hopefully that make sense!
Fantastic review! Thank you for being so thorough. I am curious, since you took such great notes on time and materials used, did you happen to calculate the approximate cost for each to make? Also, can you share more information on the embroidered eye tutorial you mentioned briefly?
Wow! Thank you! As far as cost, I didn’t break it down but I just looked briefly at what I paid for the yarn. I made sure to get it on sale and I got it $7 per skein or about $0.03 per gram of yarn, so for example with Dash Dino, I used 163 g total yarn. Multiply that by 0.03 and it’s about $4.89 for just the yarn. Hope that makes sense! For the eye guide I went to EndeeMade’s shop on etsy, it’s called Embroidered Eye Guide.
Fantastic video, I appreciate your thoroughness in covering all the loveys! I’ve made 6 of the 16 so far. This helps me decide what ones I want to tackle next. Also, your eyes are fabulous! I got endeemade’s guide a few weeks ago but still working on making my eyes look good -versus scary 😂. What yarn do you use for your eyes?
they’re all so cute!! especially the goose! thank you for adding the times as well. i got the book and have a question. for cope cow, starting at round 4 when it says x4 am i x4 for what’s in the parenthesis or the whole round? thank you!
Yes, basically you’re doing sc stitches on the other side of the chain that you made. So 5 sc along one side of the chain, 3 sc in the last st of the chain, then go back along the other side of the chain to do 5 sc. I hope that helps! If you need more support you can always email patterns@mamamademinis.com.
I have the Kindle version and that was super affordable. I have made the chick so far but want to make them all too. I also used 5mm and 6mm hooks because I can't seem to find a 7mm ergonomic Susan bates hook

These are all so cute and was such an amazing video!! Just curious, with the chenille yarn (sweet snuggles and chenille home slim) are you able to wash them? I’m wanting to make some snugglers to but didn’t know if you can wash chenille yarn.
Yes! You should be able to wash them! I haven’t personally done it but I should do a video on that! Wash in a garment bag and on the gentle cycle. Ideally air dry or in the dryer with cool air. The most important part in keeping your chenille lovey indestructible is to make sure any extra ends are double knotted and all magic circles are very secure.
@aunnikajenkins6562 I just tried washing and drying my chenille lovey and he turned out great! A few loose ends popped out so I just pushed them back in and he was good as new! I’ll be doing a video on it soon.
For the best help you could email patterns@mamamademinis.com but I can definitely try to help! Which pattern are you working on? Some start at the nose and some the back and it changes how to apply the ears.
That definitely threw me for a loop the first time I did it too! Treat it as a typical color change. So start the magic ring with the CC2 color (white color) and do 2 sc but on the final yarn over change it to the MC (red), do 2 sc in the main color and on the final yarn over go back to white. Don’t cut off the yarn, keep it hanging so you change throughout each round. Hope that helps! You can also message patterns@mamamademinis.com for any questions about their patterns.
They all turned out adorable! I did the toad and named him Prince Charming. I added a little crown and bow tie. So fun!! This is by far my most used book and have made several. I love your yeti, that might be my next project. Thanks for the inspiration!
Eh, I got this book to make the rabbit … as an experienced crocheter, I struggled with the instructions for the ear . I kept trying over and over .. I never could fully grasp where the pattern called for as far as placement wise . I felt like it was a total waste of money. They should offer help in the form of help ! At the end of the day , my experience was a total waste of time, money, and energy ! I wish their company was more helpful 😓.
Definitely! You’ll need to know some basics like magic circle, sc2tog, increases, color changes, and bobble stitch. The book goes over sc2tog, the bobble stitches, and color changes so that’s helpful as a beginner!
I have just got the book and doing the bunny and really struggling and confused about the bunny legs would anyone pls help me would really appreciate it
For the best help I would email patterns@mamamademinis.com. They might be able to send a video of what to do or provide some advice. Otherwise I can try to help! What part are you stuck on? Have you made the first leg?
@@Hollybeecrochet ok thanks I will email them and see if I can get some help. So I have split the end of the body but not sure how to make it a full round of that makes sense to make it a ring.
@@rebeccavosloo5667okay I think I know what you’re stuck on. You should have a stitch marker in two stitches (one on the front and one on the back) on your bunny that splits it in half. By doing this there should be 14 stitches on each side for the legs. The first side I start on is whatever side my last stitch for the body is on. Continue to make hdc stitches (set a new stitch marker for this round) and you’ll eventually hit your stitch marker that marks the middle of lovey. If you’re in the back part of your lovey then you’ll move to the front of the lovey, and vice versa. Just make sure you’re going in that stitch from the “right side” of the lovey into the “wrong” side. Keep going around the stitches until you get to your new stitch marker. From here you’ll just work along that new circle of stitches you made to create a leg. The middle stitches that the original stitch marker is in are eventually sewed together along with a few close by once both legs are done. I hope that helps in some way! Kind of hard to explain without video or photos!
Thanks, this review was great! I have had the book for 6+ months and haven’t made one yet. This really helps!

What size hook did she use for the majority of the Loveys and what size for the big dragon? 💜
I used 6.5 mm and 8 mm hook for most of the lovey’s. for the jumbo dragon I used an 8 mm and 9 mm hook.
I love making them. When you made the ones with color
