Completely inaccurate. You didn't interrupt the teacher
Lmao that’s what I was saying
To be fair, the teacher didn’t say “now we’re gonna slow it down”
@@cheezdip3533 lmao true
He didn't mouth the words "fuck you" to her either
Completely inaccurate, his hands didn't bleed
As an 8th grade drummer who's been learning this song the same way, you did a fantastic job man! You're gonna be a great drummer some day!
Thank you so much! I am continuing to upload in the future, so stay tuned😁
For real bro, we’re working on this in Jazz band at school and it’s killing me lmao ☠️
Some day
What's supposed to mean bitch he's already a great drummer if he learned caravan lmao
Ay if he can play this he is already doing pretty good
As a drummer of going on 15 years now, u killed it man!
that's really nice. thanks so much!
Drumming is definitely the most impressive musical talent to have in my opinion
still working on it every day!
@@wesstewartdrums you’re a legend, that movie is amazing, when I watched it I figured no one could do that solo at the end, but somehow you did it😂
@@sinjin9994 That's so nice. Thanks!
I think composition is the most impressive
Thank you i appreciate that
This is like so good you did the whole thing without bleeding
haha! (not quite)
the movie is unrealistic with the piece having blood, it was from when andrew already had bruises and clots from his accident and his practicing hours, so they started bleeding out again in performance
This performance was much better than many Highschool band videos I've seen, usually in those videos some notes are off, some parts completely changed to make it easier, and even just skipping some notes, but this was purely original
This was actually freakin' incredible bro. I can't fathom how you managed to learn this so young! Great job!!
Wow, thank you!
It would have been so funny if he just started playing before the teacher was done talking
yea haha
Damn makes me anxious to hear the teacher putting such high expectations to the public, I can't imagine how you felt haha
But really amazing cover!
Thanks so much!
I was waiting for the 5 minute mark where his face starts scrunching up because of the pain this solo puts you through, it’s truly a remarkable feat to finally finish it because you just ran a marathon in 3 mins
As a fellow drummer I can say, THAT WAS GREAT!
Keep it up and you can exceed the high level that you are at
thank you so much!
the internet has evolved so much since I was a kid, I’m not seeing any drummer Karen comments picking apart every tiny detail of this performance by an 8th grader. very refreshing!
Check again lmao!!😂
He's so relaxed he's smashed it great future for that lad
his elbows were in the air the whole time wdym relaxed
@@raccoon1551 like ye birds legs
thank you so much! i didn't feel very relaxed!
I never get tired of watching this! Im so proud of you and I miss you.
I miss you too, Ms. Voss. I hope you're doing well. Thank you for everything.
we got buddy rich here
this is amazing bro, you really did learn it note for note
thank you so much
you kidding me? you are going places kid
That was incredible man. Never stop pursuing music!
Once this young man learns to play singles with his fingers and doubles with open/close, he will sky rocket. Already amazing with what he can do so far.
i love you for loving whiplash
I'm a high school jazz drummer, and let me say, I have never seen somebody with such talent on the set at that age. Nice job man!!!
Thank you so much! I quit band tho and don’t plan to go back.
@@wesstewartdrumsbut why tho
@@sumtingwong4300 Long story short, that performance was the only benefit I got from band. I was giving valuable time away, and never got to show my talent for it. The teachers were putting me at other percussion instruments with very little talent and knowledge of the instrument required in order to play, and I just got bored and saw no other benefits. I got to play again on the same stage a few months ago, and the video is on my channel. Go check it out!
You dropped your stick and you clicked your sticks 1 time together....are you intentionally trying to sabotage my band? God damn dude I loved every second of this!
Bro when you drop your sticks and clicked them together during the double stroke roll part I felt your pain 😭 great job tho
Wes! That was awesome man, keep up the hard work!
thank you so much
Absolute legend. You got a bright future bro. Never stop playing
that's really nice. thank you
That recovery after dropping the stick was really good
Sorry for the late response. It was at a competition too, so I was terrified that it messed up my score
Holy cow, this is just amazing! Really impressive, I love this.
Thank you so much!
One of my step fathers was a jazz artist back in the 80/90s was famous in my area of New York, he dedicated his life to jazz and the arts I miss hearing his music. If you keep going at it, you can become great at it.. nice job really hit the soul again for me.
Ah, a Tama Starclassic in Molten Brown Burst. I have the same kit and love it. Awesome job!
maybe one of the best covers i've ever heard of. keep it that way and u will reach the top of the top!
Thank you so much! That's really nice.
This kid is awesome! Much love
right on my tempo, awesome job
Not quite my tempo
Rock on!
*Chair comes flying towards the kid's head*
Teacher: "Why do you suppose i just hurled a chair at your head?
Kid: "I dont know..."
Teacher: "Sure you do"
Kid: "The tempo?"
Teacher: "Were you rushing or were you dragging?"
*Teacher proceeds to slap kid across the face until the correct tempo has been achieved*
bro holy crap that was awesome!!!!! I love the movie and I love how you play!!!
Tip for future when you do rolls try using traditional grip mainly cause it is more comfortable instead of the weird like extending elbow I used to do that and when I started using traditional grip I found it MUCH easier
great tip. thank you so much! i'll work on that.
@@wesstewartdrums No problem dude!
this is insane
Amazing
You can tell that hes good when hes so relaxed that the sticks look like their bending when on the ride cymbal
thanks!
dam thats a good drumkit for a school
Not the school kit or cymbals - mine that I brought from home. It was a pain in the ass but worth bringing it (the schools kit is awful)
awesome drumming
absolutely killed it, super cool man
thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I am also an 8th grade drummer who has been learning Caravan and I just have to say that was an incredible performance. Keep it up!
Thank you, and you too!
That a boy, Wes! Awesome!
This is seriously amazing! As a musician of 5 years and drummer of a few months this seriously makes me wanna practice
Thank you so much!
Soloed me and I have been playing for 7 years now
If you be an adult you will be the best drumer in the world Wessss!!!
What a fucking legend.

Holy shit man good work

It's amazing, my inspiration now!
wow, thank you so much!
Way to go Wes! That was AWESOME!!
You’ve got MAD SKILLS brother!
EXCELLENT.. EXCELLENT.. EXCELLENT
😎🤙
P.s. Great stick recovery 🍗
Nice work!!! From one percussionist to another, you’ve outdone yourself! 😎(nod of approval)
thank you so much!
for a highschool competition, to select this song it takes a lot of b... courage :p. Congrats, sounds really good
How great is that! I really want to learn how to play the drum kit, it's my dream!
have fun playing! it's the best!
Wes, riveting man! See u in the “show.”
Nailed it!
Amazing performance, I am a 9th grade drummer and this is very impressive! Nice crossovers at around the 4:16 mark as well, those are pretty damn hard to get going at your pace. You have inspired me to possibly post a video on my channel of a solo if i can be bothered to film myself
thanks, and good luck!
Amazed!!
Dragging just kidding awesome job man!
Amazing!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work, you’re special!!!!
thank you!
Amazing performance mate !!
Awesome

Tf is your problem
Dude NICE RECOVERY!
Haha, thanks!
that was awesome
Thank you so much!
Wow how long have u been drumming this s really good
8 serious years! Thank you so much Carmen!!!
@@wesstewartdrums wow awesome! keep up the good work
Great job and incredible competence at such a young age. As an older drummer with some experience and having gone through a kind of adolescence of music learning I'd like to give some advice but not based on any critique from this performance but a caveat for future uploads. I can see the aquired technique, I can hear the confidence in the sounding of the drum voices and timing in the execution. At some stage in your journey make sure to team up with non drummers. Ensemble work with educate your musical sensibilities as far as your role within a composition and it's performance. Here you nailed the energy and intensity of this piece as done in the movie. In non fiction, real life music conservatories that drum performance from the movie would be too bombastic for an orchestra. The movie part was inconsiderate of the overall orchestral or band cohesion as the drum part played rather loud for nearly all of the piece while cluttering up the piece with angular and very jutting tom accents that plainly steam roll over the other players parts and sounds. The result is a piece that is now a drum exhibition showcase rather than a moving or audience involving production. The song reduced to being a novel vehicle for one drummers want to show case ability or skill. You are so right to want to recreate this as you had here , and so well done btw, but my caveat mentioned above is for your general and future development on the instrument as you mature musically with each passing year. Show what you can do now, I implore you really, but do have some regular contact and practice with an ensemble of your other non drumming musical peers behind the scenes, if you aren't already doing that. About this upload, well done! Very impressive! I enjoyed it! As for my wanting to give some kind of advice? Take with a pinch of salt if you are already nerding out with non drummers in practice room, not shown in the movie but a real life feature of music school life, but if not then take my advice with consideration by looking to include ensemble work around your personal drum practice routine. Keep it up overlap and a 10 out of 10 from me for your work shown here
Thank you very much for the advice. I totally understand and am working on playing with non-drummers too. Thanks for watching!
@@wesstewartdrums you are on the path of success! Your playing is already of such a high standard, ensemble work will musically enhance your ears and mind towards channelling your drumming skills ,that you already have in abundance, for work in bands, ensembles and even orchestra's. Happy to give support here in the comments and viewing but that took no effort from me. It's your videos that inspire responses, so keep it up!
No need to respond to this, just following up. I'm a fan of drumming on UA-cam as a whole , enjoying original work wherever it exsists and is of worth
This is BG btw
Awesome job dude!
thank you so much!
incredible bro!
Incredible performance man! 😎
thank you so much!
bro saved the drum soslo with the extra stick
I got so lucky!
Gotta love the stick drop, happens all the time man. great cover good job. especially at your age.
Thank you! Can't believe I had that extra stick right there -- I don't usually think ahead like that. Lucky!
LETS GO WESSSSS
Reaper B Gaming is lit!!!!!!!! Sub to Reaper B Gaming!!!!
Bro learned the wrong lesson from that movie. Nah but bro killed it
Should I have interrupted my teacher 😂😂
man he's saying sorry for the erros he made but, i didn't se any error in there, i i'm a new drummer on the thing i know a little bit of 2 musics and that's so, how do i describe...incredible
thank you so much!
Lagging the tempo like...a minute bit, but overall great for your age man. I'd throw a chair at you to make you better if I was there :P
are you rushing or are you dragging. great work very good
I can imagine some other kid on the stage doing Riptide on a ukulele and then this kid comes on
hahahaha!!
“Not quite my tempo!”
This dude is currently my age and has done more than I could dream of
edit: Yo why was the crowd so dry.
Good question. They were like that all the way through the competition. Thanks for the comment.
Wat the point of the Hi-Hat when u not going to use it.😢😢
Really good, he went out of the tempo sometimes but really nice
kids got fucking talent
thank you
Dude nice work holy fish paste
thanks so much!
killing it buddy
thank you so much!
This man even brought the china. Miles Teller didn’t even have the china.
Lol Miles Teller also didn’t even play this, but you know…
Incredible cover! Dude you are already an awesome drummer and I’m sure you’ll only get better! I hope you get lots of work and good things headed your way in the near future because you deserve it all!
P.S. those star classics sound so good
I heard the china in the recording (I can’t read music lol) Thank you so much. I love the star classic kit
@@wesstewartdrums yeah I heard the china too and I’m right there with you about not being able to read music 😅😂
What kind of snare and cymbals did you use?
All my drums are tama (star classic kit and slp snare) and all my cymbals are Zildjian (18” A Custom crash, 18” A Medium Thin Crash, 21” A Sweet Ride, 14” New Beats Hi hats, 16” ZBT China). I’ve recently bought a new 19 A Custom Projection Crash that i love. I love the whole kit. I recommend every piece of my kit.
@@wesstewartdrums that china sounds way better than I was expecting from a zbt! Your setup is spot on!
Actually according to the director roughly 90% of the drumming in the film was Miles Teller's playing.
Nice job kid you hold stick's way at the end(I tell my students choke up like a batter in baseball.seems to make it work better.keep rocking from tommy rock's baby 💀🥁
now that is my fuckin' tempo
Hi guy ! It will soon be 10 years since I've been playing drums (I'm 16) and I can tell you that this piece is far from being one of the easiest pieces, in any case a big congratulations to you ! But I had a question, did you learn the pieces by heart and did you redo them all at the time of the show or did you work on these pieces for a long time to know how to play it to perfection without replaying everything that happens in the movie literally ? Here is my question and congratulations again ! 👍👍
I watched the movie and watched multiple drum covers on it and slowly figured it out. It was all muscle memory after practicing for about a month straight. As you can see, I still made plenty of mistakes! Thanks for the comment and good luck!
@@wesstewartdrums Thank you and good Luck too 🔥
@@wesstewartdrums beat from the heart, dude
Atravesaisimoooooo
wait! is he playing to the track WITH drums on it?!
Yes i was!! I couldnt figure out how to use iems so that was the only form of audio I had!!
Awesome job!
Appreciate it!
Bruh they cut the tromboner solo 😭
8th grade me couldn’t handle it 😂😂
I also can’t read music so the rest of the song was learned by ear, and that is the most complex part
woah
Were you rushing or were you dragging?
I’ve been drumming for 23 years u have the rhythm down i think you should listen to the recording some more there are way more parts too his drum fills I know you can do this man
thanks! i will.
Wooooow
Bro is him
Молодчинка!!
