A collaborative effort featuring 15 year old Logan Ellis Sheppard (Paiste artist) on drums and 13 year old Gabriel Severn (Ernie Ball artist) on bass, with special guests Eddie Severn (trumpet), Ricky Lucchese (trombone) and Mitch Forman (keys).
This is a recreation of the #Whiplash soundtrack arrangement of the jazz standard #Caravan, including solo. Appreciate your feedback!

@@boozalm3715 Sometimes it´s not about how complicated something is but about how you understand music. In this example we have jazz which is the hardest genre in music. He is 13 years old and he knows all stops, he knows the whole song, this is amazing and this is hard too. But you are right, the drumming part is amazing too

That was absolutely insane, in the movie it was crazy but knowing a real drummer did this is even crazier, just seeing the struggle and expression in your face, true masterpiece, phenomenal drummer indeed
The actor in the movie also did really play it, he himself was a drummer and he was the one in every drumming scene, no one ever filled in for him. But I’m also not trying to take away from these kids, really talented individuals and really shows that dedication will get you to do great things, amazing job guys
@@brycehoch2963 The guy who played the role was indeed a drummer but he did not play in most scenes. He was hand-synching while the actual drummer would record the audio.
Jure Željko yeah the director didn’t even know that Miles Teller played the drums when he asked him to play Neiman. He was definitely a talented enough drummer to seem like he was doing a lot of the stuff but he didn’t actually play for a few of the tracks, the solo being one of them

The solo was improvised by a real drummer lol. It's difficult to play what someone made up on the spot because they didn't play it so it could be repeated.

@@Ihavenoname0 well as a drummer the coordination it uses is very difficult and you can hear the different beats and polyrhythms in it, its essential that the "quiet" and "boring" parts are there to contrast to other things which just shows the amount of dynamics and skill that went into it

You know what so difficult about this performance (aside from all the obvious) is the snare slow down at 7:15 this seeming easy breakdown is actually the hardest part of the piece. why? because after all that heavy wizardry on the drum, to then tapper off ones muscles to dial back and yet maintain a steady descending and later ascending pace is incredibly difficult. Youl here his timing fall off at times with every other stroke because his muscles are soo amped to just go, to rein them in and tapper off speed is insane.

@@FrankButera actually, I've seen many drum solos! from heavy metal professionals to jazz band intermediates, I've seen probably over 15-20, maybe more. I'm not a pro, but this one takes the cake in my knowledge of drumming. Could there be harder? Sure, but I don't know what is. My comment was simply a compliment to Logan, and didn't beg for analysis.

I have listened to this song more times than I’d like to admit and so i know how it sounds by heart. I am not trying to sound like an asshole but there was just a few spots that felt just a little bit off. On the other hand, I honestly thought this song was humanly impossible to play, I just thought it was like two drummers or something like that, but you absolutely nailed it, GREAT JOB!

Wow, great job. Everyone played their part amazingly. The bass was solid, and the trombone solo was fire. I especially loved the crisp sound of the trumpet. Being a trumpet player myself, I find it easy to respect such a nice sound.
Amazing cover, all around. I honestly thought the solo was impossible to do, but I'm happy to say that I was proved wrong! I find that I actually enjoy listening to this version more than the movie version, because it feels so much more real.
