I really like that your goal was to maintain usability for everyday driving while ensuring good cornering characteristics. Many of today's builders only focus on track use and compromise ride quality. Again, you're a great example of how one should approach tuning a car correctly~
Jafromobile I agree with Charles Lee too, I love both of your channels. Especially the added comedy. Like jafro's mysterious intercooler shop rag😂 and Tom's overly excited moments when accomplishing a task. Lol
I checked every other day this week for this video to come. Today I drove 100 miles to my home and you treated me to this. Thanks Tom great video and have fun!
Thanks for another great video Tom! 4 months is a really long time to be working on a car. From watching your videos we all know how much time and care you put into all your cars, and the end result really shows it. I'm jealous ;) and at the same time extremely happy you have another beast inside that awesome house you call a garage. Can't wait to hear you open her up. Have a great weekend and hopefully see you next Friday.
Great work, I have always admired the styling of these VR-4s and this one in particular because it has not been butchered with goofy wheels and other mods.
So awesome. Wonderful job of combining manageable upgrades that not only brings the car to life but will also help it run longer and more efficiently. Congrats.
Great clean tidy work. Thumps up. I got here because I own a Miata and saw your Miata projects. Now I am watching all your very interesting videos. The Galant is a great sleeper. Greetings from Germany!!
Tom! I'm so happy for you! Finishing a sleeper project isn't easy when you're going from down right track screaming power to a sleeper sedan! I'm so glad you brought your UA-cam fans with you through this awesome journey! I cannot wait to see the next video like always! I am so glad you didn't put this on the back burner! I hope one day I will bump into you at a car meet some day and personally thank you for raising the bar of expectations for me with cars and anything I do in life generally! 2 thumbs up dude! Matt
Thank you so much Matthew and I appreciate your kind support! I'd love to meet you one day too and I'm glad I can help in any way. All the best and hope you're having a great 4th of July weekend.
just had my 1G out today, i built it the same as your talon; i would agree that it is on the ragged edge of being a street car and the ACT twin disk is wicked aggressive. keep up the good work on the videos, all my dsm friends love watching them, thanks
Thank you for saying that Jonah, if you knew how much time I spend making these videos, you'd fall out of your chair! :-D I just enjoy sharing the build process and journey with everyone.
thx for the response, in school im studying film making and you do a great job, informative, well edited and funny, keep making great videos the v8 mazda looks awesome :-0 Ps that was a fast reply you must be very devoted!!!!!!!!!
Jonah Ifcher You're welcome and good luck with your schooling! I appreciate the kind words and I just enjoy interacting with folks like yourself. Just wish I had more time to do so.
wow, its funny to see that out of all the 75(ish) thousand people that have watched this video, only 9 of them have disliked, just shows how great your work is man!
GREAT videos.. what a classic.. and so extremely clean not even a chip all around.. such detailed videos. I can relate to your smile as you drove it after it was done.
the car is very happy to have someone, who takes really good care of it. i can see you love that car so much. i love it to, its such a nice piece of engineering from mitsubishi back then. its gonna be a very high apreciated japanese classic in the near future. please never ever sell it. i loved watching your dedication to this car. plz keep it up :D
Tom your build is pure genius! love it! I have been waiting and waiting to see this Galant startup... sounds like everything has gone to plan! well done! congratulations! Already looking forward to the next video!
Tom! Congratulations for the impressive job, you inspired a lot of performance lovers from Brazil (South America), like me! Awsome project, man, keep walking and making videos, please!
Amazing series so far dude, Bad Obsession Motorsport brought me here and your channel is on par with excellent workmanship, perfect subject matter for us type guys (and maybe girl?) with a really entertaining sub text through out the series. A pleasure to watch. I'm really looking forward to going back through the archives and catching up on all your other content Cheers again for taking the time to put this absolutely superb series together; as entertaining as anything else car related I've watched.
squarepantsist Hi there and welcome! I appreciate the very kind words and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! I love Project Binky and can't wait to see their next update. Have a good one!
Great Video !! I ran 20w50 in my old 1995 talon awd turbo, with a Fp green turbo set up. Tom your the best , love your videos, insight and input , i feel enlightened after watching ever new vid....
So great to finally see her running and driving. Hoisting my beer in your direction, Tom! Looking forward to seeing the performance you'll be getting out of her. Also curious to learn more about the exhaust system valve mod and how that works.
I totally agree with u , interested to see in how that works out for him. Hoisting my beer from all the way back in holland aswell. Was a great ride to watch all the video's and see her come together.
Awesome video Tom! Congratulations on finishing the sleeper project even as you said, projects can be tough at times. Been through that! Can't wait to see WOT!!
It's nice to see that the VR4 is finally on the road! I've been following project sleeper since day one! Can't wait to see some hard runs of that 4g63! Great job man (:
Friday was a great day!! Loved the video and information. Great video, delicious breakfast, great weather a good 72* degrees with wind, and I applied for Mechanics classes. Now that I get to comment, ttoday is another beatiful day. I'm going to re-warch the video and grill a little bit. Thanks again Tom and what a BEAUTIFUL ride ypu have there. Are you gonna name it? Jw.
Seen your new toyota video and I was like this guys amazing. Checked your channel and you have a build of one of my favorite cars. Legit have marathoned them all since last night. Thank you.
Good job on the car and thanks for another entertaining video, Tom! A tribute to your methodical approach to working on cars is that the car started up and ran flawlessly! I'm impressed in light of all the mods you did. Take a good rest and break in all the parts, and then let's see how it performs at the drag strip!
Thank you for the support and kind words Rick! I've actually tried to go to the track a couple times but it was rained out each time. It's going to be tricky given my schedule for the next couple months. :-(
Tom's Turbo Garage Thanks for taking the time to answer my comment, Tom. I don't know where you find the time to actually answer every comment that I've put on your clips. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing some trips to the drag strip to see the effect that your changes have made. I'm looking forward to your next clip.
Rick Hilton Hey you're welcome Rick! I don't know where I find the time either, but I just enjoy talking with everyone. The way I see it, if folks are taking the time to offer support and positivity, I think it's the least I can do!
Bravo Tom, what a gem this vr4 turned out to become. If this project doesnt get me motivated to get my colt gt in order I dunno what will. I like the cameo appearence of your boy. Spectacular looking mitsubishi! Cant wait wait to see what it does at the track!
Thanks for the videos Tom! You have inspired me to search and attempt to find/buy one of these awesome cars. Unfortunately, finding an unmolested gem like yours is hard, if not impossible.
Soo awesome to see it run. Is that the first appearance of your son in one of your videos? Very adorable. You're great for sharing all this with us, thanks for your hard work on the car and video production, I've really enjoyed it. Good luck with the clutch break-in period and I can't wait to see video of your first good pull.
Being an early DSM tuner myself I can agree on the headache tuning was back in the day. Yes, The SAFC and VPC was pretty much it back then. I would have killed for something like this. Trying to tune fuel delivery with the SAFC suuuuucked!
Thanks for the new video . awesome seeing it run now . I need ecmlink so bad .just sucks it costs what I paid for my car ! . I even got my maf-t for free and made my own palm pilot cord and paid 10 bucks for the palm and dock lol . but it isn't easy to tune . just uploaded a new video of it running but unfortunately I popped a knock cel.but whatever . I also picked up a electronic control suspension pod from the junkyard and put it on the dash for nostalgia I guess you can say . If I didn't delete Facebook a few years ago I would post the progress on there but ohh well I changed the profile pic .
TTG --The Galant is looking and sounding great. can't wait to see when you open the Galant up. Yes it took Months but its best not to rush great work. when you rush into thing you'll usually make or forget things. ** off topic. on 12:34 I see you used ur camera to capture the ECM data. you can use a software (like XSplit) that capture the ECM data window than add that video to the final video. see: XSplit Broadcaster Overview
Glad to see you get her on the road and putting her through the paces. Can't wait to see the performance numbers she puts down now vs. the stock numbers... Link offers so much.. It's a whole other learning experience in and of it self and I'm still trying to learn. ECMTuning offers great support in their forums which are super helpful. Great Video / review. ;-)
Keep it up. Love your channel! But why didn't Mr Lego go on the first trip? Mr Lego is probably the best garage buddy you can have... He don't talk back and tell you "how to"..
Absolutely love the sleeper build! If I decide to get my hands on another gvr4...I am definitely going to sleeper build like yours. I am also looking forward to finally getting dsmlink v3 too! Great build and gorgeous vr4 sir!
Just saw this when it got on my FB feed. Really happy for you bud! Kudo's it looks and sounds fantastic! Another great video and I can't wait for the next one Tom. :D
I don't think I'd have the self-control to break in the clutch properly. Big kudos to you on that. That route you drove looked amazing, can you link us the route you drove on google maps? This car makes me miss my '92 Maxima I built. I had to sell it when I joined the USAF. I don't know why, but the body styles of sedans in the early 90s just looks so good to me. It's like you see a glimpse of the future of how cars were going to look. Great build, outstanding attention to detail, and I can't wait to see what's next! Most of all, thank you for sharing your build with us.
Your detailed upgrades are so well done; wish you had worked on a 1996 Porsche 993 Cabriolet with Tiptronic and eliminated the horrid "Porsche Drive Lock System." My nemesis!
Another great video Tom's Turbo Garage . I've mentioned before that the direction of build is similar to mine. I, as well as a bunch of others, would be interested in a little more detail of your tuning process if you are interested. I just installed ECMLink last week and haven't done much but research everything I could find, make a few changes, log, check for knock and check fuel ratios, etc. Something more detailed would be awesome. But either way, what you are doing is great and thank you for your videos.
This was an awesome project series Tom, more then enjoyed watching this. it's sad that its over. But leaves me wondering what's next for the turbo garage
Flippin awesome, looks like it all came together beautifully. Can't wait till "next time". Mine has been back on the road for about 2 months and it's running good but hot weather seems to make it want to run very rich, maybe an issue with the caps. I may have my ECU rebuild but I'd like to upgrade to DSMlink /ECMlink while I'm in there. Thanks for sharing your progress, it's such a joy to see these on the road, especially one in such great shape.
YES! Another video! Holy shit you're talented. Not only do you know how to make awesome sleeper cars and videos, but you also make your own music and shit? Damn. I wish I was half as talented as that.
Hey Tom, great series! I liked your facebook page as well. It would be awesome to see you do a E30 series of some sort. Keep up the great work, looking forward to what you come up with next.
I really enjoyed watching your sleeper build. DSMs are close to my heart also. Especially ones with 4g63t and awd. :) When is the next episode coming up?
Fantastic job Tom! I've really enjoyed watching you work on this car. I think you've built the ultimate sleeper! Waiting impatiently for the next video.:)
Do you have any plans for new builds in the near future? Its been a while and i would love to see more. You have amazing attention to detail when it comes to tuning and building cars
Awesome videos, just watched about 10 in a row. Beautiful sleeper, I am on my 5th 4 door turbo Mazda, some much more ninja than others, but all in all almost always sleepers to your average mustang/camaro/etc owner. Of course all have been standard, and I have loved everyone of them. Sleepers for life. Glad you kept at 'er, the finished product is amazing!
Tom's Turbo Garage Thank you, you crazy bastage! The MX-Vette project is looking insane my friend! And you have a very nice home shop, love the electric frame lift, I need one of those for.... hell too many things to list. Building up my 2013 MS3 right now, done with 3 Motor mounts, intercooler, ECU relocation Battery Box, Short Shifter plate and shifter bushing, and am waiting on fuel pump internals and Cobb AP for my catless TBE and 3.5" SRI/TIP.. Then onto the suspension/tires.. Luckily I work in a shop so install time is cut down a lot. Good luck with all you do!
Man, you take the whole sleeper philosophy to a new level! Slick work.
+André-Michel Goulet thank you sir, I appreciate the kind words!
I really like that your goal was to maintain usability for everyday driving while ensuring good cornering characteristics. Many of today's builders only focus on track use and compromise ride quality. Again, you're a great example of how one should approach tuning a car correctly~
Thank you sir, I appreciate the kind words!
It's always a buzz when you get a car back up and running. Congratulations on a job well done, Tom!
Thank you Jafro, I appreciate it very much and hope all is well!
Charles Lee I freaking love Jafro's videos!!
Jafromobile I agree with Charles Lee too, I love both of your channels. Especially the added comedy. Like jafro's mysterious intercooler shop rag😂 and Tom's overly excited moments when accomplishing a task. Lol
I wish these professional craftsman screwdrivers were still available. Best drivers I ever had.
I checked every other day this week for this video to come. Today I drove 100 miles to my home and you treated me to this. Thanks Tom great video and have fun!
Thank you my friend and I'm glad that you look forward to these!
As much as we inspire you. Your work and your great detailed videos inspire me to keep moving forward with my talon.
The best part of this video is the last thirty seconds. Can't wait till you WOT that thing! Good job.
Congratulations Tom glad to see your sleeper on the road now .
Congratz on the project! You're one of the guys I'd actually let repair my car if ever needed.
Thank you for the kind words man!
Thanks for another great video Tom! 4 months is a really long time to be working on a car. You're very welcome and thank you for the gracious support! You can hear the old beast opened up at the end! :-D
Finally the first drive! Love the way you are going to such great lengths to maintain the sleeper look!
Sarthak Agarwal Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it!
Great work, I have always admired the styling of these VR-4s and this one in particular because it has not been butchered with goofy wheels and other mods.

So awesome. Wonderful job of combining manageable upgrades that not only brings the car to life but will also help it run longer and more efficiently. Congrats.
Thank you Jacob, I appreciate that!
Great work... You are truly an inspiration to backyard mechanics everywhere. Thank you for this journey...
Thank you for saying that and I'm glad you enjoyed the videos!

I finally did it!!!!! Keep me coming, Tom!
Haha, thanks Adam!
just had my 1G out today, i built it the same as your talon; i would agree that it is on the ragged edge of being a street car and the ACT twin disk is wicked aggressive. keep up the good work on the videos, all my dsm friends love watching them, thanks
Nice man, glad to hear that you're out enjoying you car! Yeah, that twin disc is an acquired taste, but a darn good option for high powered setups.
you are so devoted you must spend more time editing the videos than on your car, your commitment is amazing!!!
Thank you for saying that Jonah, if you knew how much time I spend making these videos, you'd fall out of your chair! :-D I just enjoy sharing the build process and journey with everyone.

Finally finish! Ahhhh...the feeling of having it back on the road. I can't wait for you to get it dailed in and test it out on the track
wow, its funny to see that out of all the 75(ish) thousand people that have watched this video, only 9 of them have disliked, just shows how great your work is man!
+connell rowe Thank you sir
I'm convinced all 9 of them were accidental dislikes too
absolutely amazing work Tom. You're methodical and attention to detail really shines on this car.
IDreadDawn Thank you sir, I appreciate you saying that!
The 3rd gear pull was what I came for, the preview at the end was what I got. Can't lie, it was beautiful. (wipes tear)...
Haha, thanks man and I'm glad you enjoyed that! :-D
GREAT videos.. what a classic.. and so extremely clean not even a chip all around.. such detailed videos. I can relate to your smile as you drove it after it was done.

Thanks man, me too.
Congrats to see the old girl back on the road again! Can't wait for the next video to see you crack her open... oh yeah!
Thanks man! I do open it up at the end there! :-D
Awesome to see this sleeper on the road. Excited for your next vid
Tom! Congratulations for the impressive job, you inspired a lot of performance lovers from Brazil (South America), like me! Awsome project, man, keep walking and making videos, please!
Thank you my friend! Good luck on whatever you're wrenching on and tell everyone in beautiful Brazil that I said hello!
Amazing series so far dude, Bad Obsession Motorsport brought me here and your channel is on par with excellent workmanship, perfect subject matter for us type guys (and maybe girl?) with a really entertaining sub text through out the series. squarepantsist Hi there and welcome! I appreciate the very kind words and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! I love Project Binky and can't wait to see their next update. Have a good one!
Best day of the week!
Haha, thanks Jacob!
The tiny UPS man was real funny!!
Great Video !! I ran 20w50 in my old 1995 talon awd turbo, with a Fp green turbo set up. Tom your the best , love your videos, insight and input , i feel enlightened after watching ever new vid....
Another great dsm story.. Your documentary has been awesome and I look forward too future vids
The UPS guy was awesome. Love your sense of humor. Union guy, not a Fed ex scab as well.
Congratulations Tom! Can't wait for the video where you can crack it wide open.
Thanks man! I actually do crack it open there at the end. :-D
Thank you my friend! I appreciate all of your support along the way!
SneakyGamingHD Thank you sir! I appreciate that!
I can't handle the suspense. Waiting patiently for your next upload.
Thanks man! I've been too busy lately to work on the next video, hopefully in a couple weeks I can get back on it.
Great video once again. Thanks for all your hard work putting this together. Don't know who gave you a thumbs down, they probably drive a moped.
Tom, one of the coolest cats into DSMs, him and Jafro. Would be nice to see them together.
Awesome video Tom! Congratulations on finishing the sleeper project even as you said, projects can be tough at times. Been through that! Can't wait to see WOT!!
Thank you sir! Also, you can see it go WOT at the end.
Nothing like the sound of the E39A engine :)
It's nice to see that the VR4 is finally on the road! I've been following project sleeper since day one! Can't wait to see some hard runs of that 4g63! Great job man (:
Finally!! So glad to see it on the road. Hope to see some track times if you ever feel up to it.
Thank you Josh! I do hope to make it to the track- I've tried to go recently but it keeps raining. Grr.
Haha. I live in Florida so I know the struggle
congrats on getting her back on the road! as always, looking forward to the next update!
Thanks man!
Funny and fascinating as always, Tom. The VR4 looks so sedate. A true killer.

Looks like the Cherohala Skyway or the Tail of the Dragon. At least somewhere close.
Where are you filming your test drives? Scenery looks awesome!
Car is looking great man. Congrats on the project
Thank you sir!
This car turned out awesome and has inspired me to try something like this.
Thanks man and good luck!

Thank you! I unleash it a bit at the end there. :-D
IT'S ALIVE! Wooo hooo!
Keep it up. Love your channel!
But why didn't Mr Lego go on the first trip?
Mr Lego is probably the best garage buddy you can have... He don't talk back and tell you "how to"..
I can't wait till next time!
Thanks Maxx!
AWESOME!!! can not wait to see some sort of time slip or even an autox event!
Thanks Ryan!
Absolutely love the sleeper build! If I decide to get my hands on another gvr4...I am definitely going to sleeper build like yours. I am also looking forward to finally getting dsmlink v3 too! Great build and gorgeous vr4 sir!

Well I can only speak for myself, but I'll be patiently waiting on the edge of my seat. For the next wicked project
MrJohnny2thumbs Thank you and I appreciate that!
Your welcome tom
Congratulations! Can't wait to see this thing uncorked. :))
Thanks man! I uncorked it at the end for ya!
EXCELENTE!!, una de los mejores shows de tunnig car que he visto,!! gracias por tu show lo disfruto mucho saludos desde El Salvador
Jose Preza Muchas gracias Jose! :-D
Thank you for the kind words and enjoy your car!
lol...these videos are great. I wish I had half the skill you do in doing this.
Time to do a 3000gt vr4.great job on your build tom☺
Wow! It looks great! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks man!
YES! Another video! Holy shit you're talented. Not only do you know how to make awesome sleeper cars and videos, but you also make your own music and shit? Damn. I wish I was half as talented as that.
Thank you for all of the kind words! I enjoy making them for everyone, I just wish I had more time to do so.
Hey Tom, great series! I liked your facebook page as well. It would be awesome to see you do a E30 series of some sort. Keep up the great work, looking forward to what you come up with next.
Thank you sir, I appreciate the kind words and generous support! Thank you for the suggestion, I have tons of respect for BMWs new and old!
Looks great as always Tom!!!
Omg the ups man was so awesome lol
Thanks as always my friend!
Thanks for another awesome video Tom! You should get a LS1/2 GTO and build a nice single turbo sleeper.
You're welcome man, glad you enjoyed it! I definitely want an LSx powered car someday. Thanks for the suggestion!
Haha I can't believe your driving in Norris I'm from Campbell county right up the interstate lol. Love the series and keep having fun.
Thanks man, yes that place is a little drive, but it's secluded and really beautiful.
I really enjoyed watching your sleeper build. DSMs are close to my heart also. Especially ones with 4g63t and awd. :) When is the next episode coming up?
Thank you for the kind words! It will likely be a couple weeks, life has been extremely busy lately.
Fantastic job Tom! I've really enjoyed watching you work on this car. I think you've built the ultimate sleeper! Waiting impatiently for the next video.:)
Thank you! As for the next video, it may be a little while- I've had no free time lately.
Do you have any plans for new builds in the near future? Its been a while and i would love to see more. You have amazing attention to detail when it comes to tuning and building cars

Yet another amazing build nearing completion...
Can't wait to see and hear a WOT run or this beast on the dyno ;)
Thanks man! Got some WOT at the end there!
a work of art!
Ehwal Thank you sir, I appreciate the support and kind words very much! Turbo Mazdas are awesome as well!
