I have a ancestor who survived the Salem witch trials, her name was Sarah. She was called a witch because she got pregnant by her second husband (1st husband passed)when she was older. She never conceived in her younger years, Because she was a very mature woman they thought it was witchcraft.. Sarah must have made a deal with the devil to get pregnant. Her husband put his life on the line and petition to spare her life and the unborn and he succeeded. We found this out about a year ago, she was on my mother’s side of the family tree. I think she was a amazing woman ❤
They knew so little about fertility back then. What a shame for your ancestor and others. Also always thinking it was the Woman's fault if there were no children. Couldn't be the man. 😖
My mom did genealogy, And discovered that my ancestors were related to Thomas in AnnCarr Putnam He also found an original arrest warrant for Martha Corey, which is actually really cool question what is your ancestors one of the accused or the accusers?
The symbol of the oil lamp on those headstones is a symbol of Christian preparedness, as in the parable of the 10 virgins waiting for the bridgroom; 5 were unprepared because they ran out of oil and while they were off getting more, the groom locked them out. The 5 wise ones brought extra oil and went into the feast.
this was cool! We think one of our ancestors was a Mary Bradbury that was accused of being one of the witches. She ended up getting away from being killed.
In England they had small headstones if they didn't have much money. As you paid the stonemason by the letter, they could only afford the initials. Love your channel ❤
The Ballou Meeting House Rd cemetery was even spookier back in the 70s when there were no houses around. Lived down the road from there. As a teenager friends and I went to visit it on Halloween night. Very creepy! 👻
Cool cemetery! I'd love to go wandering around there. In my town in western NY we have those same kind of vaults built into the ground with the iron doors. The cemetery was built in the 1850s, I believe. I can't wait to see more of these places. Thank you, Ron.
Great video! The crunching of the leaves underfoot, the fog rolling in, the beautiful red, orange and gold leaves on the graves. Watching thus, I can almost smell October.🍁
Ron to bad you couldn't go to Center Church in New Haven. Part of the graveyard is actually under the Church. Not sure if there are any interesting stories but just the fact that they left the graveyard intact and built above it is interesting. You can go into the (basement) in see the stones.
Actually I have no interest of filming that because it’s been done over and over on UA-cam. The stories I do are mostly untold stories - and that’s what I’m pretty much exclusively doing now. That’s what I look for. And that’s what our viewers are looking for. But yeah - I’ve been there - I’ve seen it - but if I do re-run stuff our viewers are disappointed and it hurts my channel, the algorithm. But thank you - if it hasn’t been worn out on UA-cam, a great suggestion there. 😊👍
Elder Ballou is the among the best of the old New England Cemeteries. Watching UA-cam, I can feel the Presence of the people there and imagine them, the individuals they were and their personalities. To be there in person would be, well no words to describe the experience. Thanks Ron for the great video!
Well he's not into preaching. He's an architect, a pilot and an artist. He doesn't need to get wrapped up in religion. He has also lost a daughter. He's doing what I would deem as historical. One of his many talents.
@BrendaPhillips09 Sadly, religion is not about GOD anymore. But it's God that gave us Ron so he could help us all to remember the Forgotten ones.. because of him, I see the people and not just head stones when I go to the cemetery now .
Tombstones from the 1700s fascinate me the most bc they’re becoming more rare as time goes on. Just starting & already creeped out can you imagine walking around there just a few hours later in the dark by yourself? I can’t. 🎃 👻
Great video as always , only just a reminder to everyone walking outside this time of year it’s starting to get darker in the evenings now. Please remember to fasten you reflective safety tags or devices to your jackets . The thin lined reflective tape is great wrapped around the tops of kids boots if they have to wait for the school bus by the side of the road .
I wish more people were interested in maintaining these historic cemeteries. Such a beautiful place. It could be even better with a little care. The old photos you shared sure showed how this cemetery has been allowed to deteriorate. Thank you for all the great stories and videos!
Hi Brittan, and I agree with you. I'd love to explore with Ron... He comes across the best places ever....Not to mention stories. Can't wait to see more videos of you and Ron from Arizona....
I am thankful for the groups that clean the stones with the permission of their families....I appreciate them...Some of my family I didn't know their names until they were cleaned up.
It’s awesome you are keeping these cemeteries and people alive. Thank goodness you are filming these places cause eventually no one will be able to see the writing on the stones. Maybe in the future, people will be referring to your footage which is an amazing legacy for the future generations. ❤❤❤❤
Great walk, Ron! Love the old New England cemeteries. Visited a couple in New Hampshire last week. Lots of fog. This was a fascinating and rather creepy one! Thanks! 💜
I remember as a kid in Warwick Rhode Island. There was an old cemetery we used to play in right next door to my grandmother’s house. Now I wish I would have known it was history. I see on google earth it’s been cleaned up. I so want to go back now as an adult and see what it looks like in person. But living in Texas it’s a long ways away. Love the videos Ron
What an old cemetery! It's perfect for Halloween but still eerily beautiful. I feel like it should be in a spooky movie or something. The fog rolling in just adds to it. Well, after seeing this I'd say meeting adjourned folks. RIP to all ❤💐
Worst drivers in the country here in RI! I know those places very well, Whipple were a prominent family of Cumberland. Amazing history up there, we have to hit the monastery next time!
Such a sad and lonely cemetery! Thanks Ron ❤ (I have one of them flashlights that cycle through various phases before I can actually get the steady beam. Annoying, but a great light!)
Quintessential antique old graveyard. Absolutely beautiful. I was struck by how young so many women were at death. I wonder about the moments of their lives... Loves and losses...
Wow!! That cemetery sure has a spooky atmosphere!! A perfect setting for a Halloween episode!! Thanks for sharing this piece of history with us, Ron!! XXXX 👍💞🤗❤👻

I encourage EVERYONE who adores this channel to visit these wonderful cemeteries while they are still there to appreciate. This environment will not last forever.
Ron, another great video. The colours on those stones are amazing. Loved the developing atmosphere as the video goes on and the fog comes drifting in, spoooky!
Thanks Ron for taking us on such a fitting autumnal walk through the woodland graveyard. Have you read Walter De La Mare's short stories set in old british graveyards, deserted beaches and haunted houses. I think you'd enjoy the atmosphere created.
No disrespect intended. I would love to be at those cemeteries at the witching hour with recorders or the Necronomicon, to see if anyone had something to say. Always remember no fear, but very respectful. Stay safe Sir & everyone. Listen to this youngster talking about being old....😂 LOL
Great video Ron …What a great ominous element the fog adds to that type of environment. I was in Boston a few years ago and Rockport and Salem and I couldn’t get enough of the incredible history in the cemeteries …like-minded. Bridget Southern California 😎
Hi Ron.. This is amazing. I never imagined it to be like this. Wanted ti also say.. the fog will move in because of warmer temperature inland. Wait a couple hours and it will diispate.. Thanks for all the really cool places you take us to this time of year. I loveit!!
I wonder if Mrs Comfort Bellow was a nurse. Florence Nightingale had formed her first team of nurses before the Cremeon war. Nurses are symbolized by the lantern that the nurses carried at night to assess and attend their patients. I'm sorry you were in danger from living people and their cars

Our family cemetery has headstones that have unfortunately faded over time since it dates back to the early 1700's . Thankfully many years ago a professional was hired to etch the oldest ones before evreything was erased & etchings were put into a port folio for safe keeping.. The family is in the process of getting metal markers made to put in front of or beside of what is left of the existing stones that have become unreadable by using donations from family members. Cemeteries are a unique form of history ,at least I think so and it is unfortunate that so many have been lost to time(and development)!
