Learn How to Paint BEACH FLIGHT KITE with Acrylic - Paint and Sip at Home - Step by Step Tutorial

- VIDEO DESCRIPTION This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this summer inspired coastal image of "BEACH FLIGHT KITE" with a stunning dusk glow in the sunset sky that is reflecting in the shallow water of the waves rolling into the shore while a young girl runs with her colorful kite in hopes of catching the last good wind to set her kit in flight. You'll learn simple painting techniques that will help you to create this realistic piece of art with a woman with long wavy hair wearing a flowing white beach dress running through the beach sand with sand dunes just beyond her path. Holding onto her brightly striped cloth kite, she’ll soon let go of it and set it free like a beautiful bird. You’ll learn to draw basic outline of a female figure that gives form and shape to the body beneath the clothes. With a dry brush technique you'll learn how to create dimension and reflections on the water with subtle blending of the surrounding colors and properly placed highlights and shadows. The strong posture of this girl and the flow of her dress, hair and fabric in the kite and movement to this painting that make you want to run along side her during this warm summer evening. Inspired by my desire to run on the beach in Cape Cod right now hoping that a warm summer breeze will be be right around the corner! You'll learn to paint this realistic landscape with depth and contrast. Using only 2 brushes and 7 colors we'll create this conversational masterpiece inspired by bright summer colors and warm atmospheric dimension that is sure to bring lively energy on the wall of any home. So let's get painting and let's get sipping!

Canvas: 16x20 stretched primed canvas
Brushes: 1/2 flat bristle (large), #4 round (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, chrome yellow, fluorescent orange, burnt umber (brown), cobalt blue, phthalo green
Other: chalk, palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 1/2 bristle brush - Paint sky with white, yellow, orange and blue
2. 1/2 bristle brush - Paint 1st layer of sand and water with black, brown and white
3. 1/2 bristle brush - Create area for water with brown, black, blue, green, yellow, orange and white
4. 1/2 bristle brush - Paint sand dunes with black, brown, white, orange and yellow
5. 1/2 bristle brush - Finish water with brown, black, blue, green, yellow, orange and white
6. chalk - Draw outline for figure
7. #4 round brush - Paint skin with brown, orange and white
8. #4 round brush - Paint 1st layer of kite with white
9. #4 round brush - Paint dress with black, brown and white
10. #4 round brush - Finish skin with skin color made in step 7 and white
11. #4 round brush - Paint hair with black, brown, orange, yellow and white
12. #4 round brush - Paint kite color pattern with green, orange, yellow, blue and white
13. #4 round brush - Finish kite with blue, black, brown, white, yellow, orange and green

Can you tell more about the colour you are using like in brown is it deep brown or In lighter side. And it is a wonderful painting keep it up 🥰🥰
Hi Kirti, The brown I use is burnt umber, which is pretty dark, however for these tutorials I'm using a thin bodied student grade paint from Blick Materials called Blickrylics. They don't have the best pigment, but I like the consistency for layering and blending affects, so the brown I use tends to have transparency to it. I sell small sample sizes of the colors I use on my website (link below) if you want to try them before you invest in the larger bottles. Have fun painting! ~Michelle

Hi Judith, You can certainly do another layer over you existing background using a glaze, that will definitely smooth it out. For these videos I'm using a thin bodied paint that stays moist for a little longer than heavy bodied paint. So, if you are doing another large blending area in the future, you can add your glaze medium into your heavy body paint to give it the thinner consistency coming out of the gate. Hi Michelle, was just curios how do I dispose of turpentine when it gets to dirty to keep using, this is why I love oils but don't like the mess
Hi Monica, What I do is put the dirty turpentine in an open container (a container that I will be okay with throwing away later). I leave the container open in an airy place (outdoors is the best place) and I let the turpentine evaporate, then close the container and throw it away. I hope this helps. I’m still painting, but my internet carrier has started charging a lot more for overages...hence unable to watch much....but, I will from time to time. ❤️❤️❤️
Dont you just love capitalism. Our cable company slash internet provider saw how we were all canceling cable TV and going with app platforms and they just couldn't stand losing money so they are punishing us by charging for internet overages.
