Mid spot loser to leave a drop Cannon or top pocket loser in Billiards by Rob Hall

Here we have a couple of alternatives for the mid spot loser usually played after a foul stroke and re-spot. The shot in both scenarios is played as a thick half ball with a fair amount of check side. The benefit to playing the shot this way is that it cuts out the risk of the object ball catching the jaws or even dropping into the centre pocket like can happen if playing the object ball of 3 cushions.
