This car was a big inspiration for my V8 swap. I chose to use an N62 V8 though, which in 4.8 makes more power and more torque than this V12 (and is lighter, with better weight distribution). Very cool seeing a walk-around of the V12, it's been hard to find good footage of it over the years.
I'm doing this swap in a Z3 Coupe right now. BMW had provided me some underbody photos of this car, but you pointed out something interesting... This was actually a Z3 that was retrofitted with M parts, and supposedly not an M Roadster to begin with. I suspect it was maybe actually an M Roadster that just had Z3 side vents on it, as literally everything else, including mirrors, are M-spec parts. I'm building mine from a Z3 3.0i Coupe, but I don't currently plan to switch to M bumpers and trim. I have time to change my mind, though.

Should have BMW built this Z3 with a V12 engine?
Yes
Should we regularly breath oxygen?
The answer is yes to both questions.
@@AarmOZ84fair enough
no, it would have been excessive for a car with a very light weight. Maybe a V8 would have been enough
Yes i like it

Glad it was useful. I figured this is too good of a car not to share.
What a fantastic video as a BMW enthusiast really enjoyed this cars are absolutely stunning 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully it gets reposted more because there are truly some remarkable cars

Very cool. Would love to know more about the project. Send us an email.
Any way to share the undercarriage photos? I'd love to see it

Where is the engine sound!?!?!
We tried. Apparently they disconnected it because it overheats easily.
@@bmwblog That's the genuine spirit of BMW! LOL actually overheating has not been much of an known issue for most BMWs ;)
I mean, it's a V12 in a small tight space. What do you expect? That car was not made for a V12. Zero cooling for a V12

300++ hp for a heavy v12 😂...
