just bought a 2002 1.7 turbo van. Body works spot on, no rust other than on some scratches. 100k . Only issue some parts no longer easy to get. rear brake compensator gone and its £200 from Germany . That said every thing else oil filters , brakes etc dead cheap. Mines an ex RNLI van then local garage - great van sameMPG and 100 percent more reliable than my previous van a Berlingo 2013!!
Yes they are fantastic little vans, I’m sure most motor factors could get you a brake compensator cheaper, usually just take a bit freeing off.
Just bought an 08 plate with 114k 1.7cdti £1750 after the guy had done a new clutch new fly wheel new ecu all new wheel trims. Body work is perfect also new timing belt. Mint van for the age 👌
Yes the ml5 is a cracking van also but unfortunately not as robust as the mk4
Mainly because they started to use the chocolate box M32 gearboxs in them

Yes have been wanting another Astra G van for years since I sold my last one.
But I specifically wanted the Euro 4 tax band one so it’s £140 tax not £320

Yeah always liked the Astra G platform very reliable if looked after
I love G- Astras! They are really financial maintain, and nice to drive . I have had three g astras. And for sure in the future I will also buy one:)
Honestly in my top 5 best cars made in the last 20 years, easy to work on, nice to drive, loads of variants.
Personally I think the van is the best of the lot, such a good platform for a small commercial vehicle.

Can't beat the older vauxhalls tbf ,I also have a 26 year old Calibra
Yeah can’t beat old Vauxhall’s, lost interest once they finished the Astra G and Vectra C, don’t like the new range at all.

I’ve got a mk4 2.0 dti sportive on an 03 plate I’ve had it since 07 and now have 166k miles on it !, they rot out on the rear inner and outta sills under the skirts. I’ve just done mine as I love the thing that much 😂
Yeah that’s just basic work in 20 year old working vehicles…. Compare that to a 20 year old transit lol.

Nice van mate,what I always do with those wheel arches on the inside lip is put a glove on and smere grease all around it they stay mint ! 😀
Yeah that’s what I do with all them, most cars i service at work usually do that as part of the service.

I love astra mk4s in any form
Just fantastic platforms, just done long trip in it today sails along at speed no problem at all.
They do they are bullet proof
MK5 never matched them for reliability
I've got a 54plate one with 15000 miles and it never puts a foot wrong. Love my wee van.
They are fantastic vans, definitely one of the best ever made imo

100% they fly along with a few mods the 1.7 CDTI
@Car Addict Garage North East small remap and chip can bring a standard upto 124bhp without internals bring messed with. Guess what my plan is for summer 😆 🤣
Yeah they are a strong engine for sure, and super efficient 60/70mpg all day long.
Plus mine been within the Euro 4 commercial tax it’s only £140… assume yours will be too
That 1.7 CDTI is a workhorse
They are a fantastic engine, even at 200/300,000 miles you take the oil cap off and there ain’t even a score on the cam lobes.

Hey Dan, how come colour coded bumper on front but grey on back. Maybe had a knock so new rear bumper?
That’s actually how they come from new weirdly, unless you got the Sportive version what had full colour pack.

I've got an Astra G Coupe 2.2 in Europa Blue. It's a 1 previous owner car. Has been dry stored and needs major detailing and servicing. Are you good with timing chains?
Unfortunately don’t get involved with the chains anymore… if they ain’t rattling just leave em be lol
A good engine but do they suffer from dual mass flywheel issues?
Not the Z17DTL the 80 BHP don’t have a DMF only the Z17DTH 100 BHP what was mot fitted to the MK4 Astra only the MK5…. And even those very rarely give issues like the 1.9 CDTI and 1.3 CDTI Fiat engines have constant issues
