That's awesome. The mask thing is true too😅 I was riding my bike every morning last winter at 430 am and the mask helped my face be a lot warmer.
I really love that this vid doesn’t have a bunch of music in the background. It’s so peaceful and I can focus on what you’re doing. And I just lov hearing the birds in the background
I agree. I generally hate background music. I watched one this morning that was so high-production I finally decided it was an ad pretending to be a vlog. I didn't stay to find out what they were selling....
💯
The first question was the one on my mind....The gap drove me crazy the whole video.
OMG same!!!
Just found you...ive never seen such good stuff done so easily..
I have watched about 20 van build out videos and this one might be the best 👍👍
this video has just the right amount of jazz hands
OMG! I have that floor in my Astro! Terrific build..Astro lovers rock!
Wonderful video & your craftsmanship & design is superb.
- Lots of ideas for a D.I.Y. build. - In addition to a very well put together interior build, this is a well made video.
Thank you for no music! I like that you installed two small fans. I want to do that in my Astro.
That’s one clean build. Excellent work.
That rug really ties the van together, man...
Nice build however not what I consider "ultralight." Well built none the less and thumb up.
This is one of the best I’ve seen. And you can call me Duderino if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.
I based my Astro build off this build although I used a few different materials. This was the first build I saw that had the cabinet behind the driver's seat. I think it's a must for an Astro and I've seen more and more people incorporating it into their designs. 👍
First! :) I was so happy to see a new video from you... And happy to see the van again! :D (although nothing really new has been added) It's the best adventure van on youtube. Hope to see more of your adventures!
Looks quite functional, well done !
I'm between wanting a Toyota Sequoia for the dependability and off road capability or a Chevy Astro for the extra space and lower initial cost. This is definitely making me want to go the van route!
awesome van
I really love your build. I also have a Chevy Astro van 2004 that I built out but it’s too crowded and I like the simplicity of yours. I may pull everything out and redo it smile
🎯 OVERCROWDING ! Trust me, redo it. I made that same mistake over and over. BUT, I never will again. Overcrowding ruins everything.
Great reinstallation video! I'm looking at behind the drivers seat shelving, similar to what you did. But, being short, I think I can get away with wider shelves and a shorter bed. Rear camera installed, so rear window view isn't an issue. Great to see you making videos again! Don't stop now!
If you ever decide to remove the rear heater... Install a heat exchanger, under the van, where the tubing/hoses is/are. Then you've got a source for heating water for an outdoor shower. Glind makes a nice shower system ($500+), but you can DIY one for a lot less. ;)
great work ! can't wait to have my astro. your videos will help me alot with my futur build, I really like what you've done with yours
that carpentry work is amazing dude 🤙🤙
killer 🎉🎉🎉
Helpful and informative videos! Thank you :) can't wait to get started on our 99 Astro conversion.
I'm looking at one with the seats and I'm thinking of using it for overland stuff and camping.
Thank you for your video gave me a few ideas for my 2004 Astro.
Great looking build!
Really well done!
Awesome this is what I’m getting 2001 Astro
Astro life!
Awesome Sir.
Excellent build.
Great work. I guess it time to rework my interior after seeing your great job. Don't forget to share your new adventures. :-)
New here' Wished id'e seen all your videos in process' just so Inspiring and really Vantastic!🇺🇸🏞⛅👍
Thank for sharing
Great job well done and designed
Awesome!!
great video. FAQ lol. look forward to catching up on them
Excelente trabajo de lo mejor que visto 👍
Does the wood end up adding a lot of weight? Also, it doesn't seem to be used for full time vanlife -- but is there anything you would add to this setup if it were? Thinking it needs a pot to piss in and a bit bigger sink & water storage, or maybe an outdoor dish washing solution?
Really good video though, no BS time wasting and great shots of the van & the work done.
That is an amazing van!
The "mask" joke had me rollin'!!!! Nice build
Well done
I love your channel name. New sub😁
Thanks for subbing!
Such a great build. Can't get over how much you have packed into Disastro Van. Thanks for sharing van parts too. What is your vent van that is closest to the driver and passenger seats. Trying to decide what to get. Thanks! Love all your videos.
NEARLY 1 MILLION!!! 🎉😮❤🎉
Just passed it today!
GOOD IDEAS
Nice .❤
Sir have you ever thought of blueprints for that build and selling them? Would be cool to just cut all the wood and toss it in for sure❤ love your build though. I want to eventually get to that style
Prachtig!
can you help me do this to my safari please!!! would be life-changing... this build is fantastic and your videos are so inspiring and wonderfully put together. much love from California 💜💫
Dope.
Awesome 👍 van 🚐
Love this build!!! Can you come to Victoria BC and do my Astro?!? 😊 you did an amazing job, truly a talented fellow
OMG PNWDIY ASMR :O

Great build. How much did thos cost ? Do you have a price breakdown video? Cheers
Beautiful how can I found one like this I’m interested?
DOPE
Can you detail what you did for trimming out the hatch?
Do you convert vans? This is gorgeous!
Really wanna figure out how to cover my windows the way you did. Did you use wood furring strips? How did you black them out so as to not see the wood panels from the exterior?
I always wonder how they got the curve in the roof with the wood.
Did you relocate the heater core from the back to the front?
Do you have the blue prints for this ?
Hey, I just discovered your videos. Like your low key style and the fact that you are not trying to sell something. I do have a question. What is the brand/name of the ladders/tables you use? I could definitely use one of those.
Thanks
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate you being here. The ladders are Gorilla Ladders and can be found at Home Depot. Happy travels!
How much that run you?
where would you place a swivelling table?
If I had a captain's seat on the passenger side, I would try and put one there. Not sure how, but that would be the best place for my build as you can't really sit on the bed.
Do you have a video step by step of building the bed?
I have a bed overview that talks about its construction. It’s in my uploads :)
what are the wood panels being drilled into?
The metal support beams that give the van structural stability. It’s what the original trim was attached to.
Częściej wstawiaj filmy!! Please
how does drilling into the van not cause water leaks? are there two layers of metal and he's only drilling into the first layer?
Correct; there is the internal metal skeleton of the van that is the support for the outer metal hull. You choose your screws depending on the depth of the internal metal vs the outside metal.
Can I pay you to do my van?
What mpg do you get with it?
22-25 on average.
Wow, that's great. With all of that wood I would have thought that it would have been less. Very good to know!@@UltralightNerd
How much would it cost to have you make me one. Please reply
I’m not for hire in this regard. Even if I was: I don’t touch custom builds for under 20k.
I don't understand what you are screwing the wood into?
Is there any way for me to get in touch with you
Sure, send me a message.
Sub
You just lost 2 mpg with the extra weight using wood .
Dang bro that’s crazy.
I'm guessing that the wood is probably equal to the lack of seats, give or take fifty pounds...@@UltralightNerd
Why the mask? Covid outside, on your own?? Seems a tad over the top.
@@UltralightNerd All cool, its just they really restrict your breathing and you get a carbon monoxide buildup, I haven't worn one unless I'm shoveling compost etc or sanding.
@@UltralightNerd I haven't had so much as a sniffle for two years running. I might keep wearing masks, no matter what ANYBODY says.
Those dry working winter days were rough. Hands were cracking, lips were cracking; mask helped a bunch. Don't like wearing 'em but there are most definitely situations where they help. Cheers!
So we are the dummies for wondering why you are so paranoid that your wearing a mask outside with nobody around. Hahahaha. You are a genius! Don’t let the virus in with all those vents!
Normally I would ban you from this channel, but I want to approve this comment to show everyone who you are at your core (an insufferable asshole), and also what not to say. The temperature was 20° when working on my van. My hands were cracking from the cold and bleeding (same with my lips). The mask was not for virus protection, but was to keep my face warm. It’s very telling what you’re willing to spend your energy on by criticizing others decisions to take care of themselves. Quite triggered by a UA-cam video, huh? Sad.
Hey, thanks for responding to that douchebag. Seriously, who thinks up comments like that? What a tool...
Okay, on to the real reason for writing...Bravissimo!! What a great build!
I'm on the fence between an '05 Honda Odyssey, an '07 Kia Sedona, or a 2000 Astro with the Dutch doors like yours. Condition-wise and mechanically they are all decent, with mileage in the 140k - 180k range. l get the fact that they will ride differently, with the Astro the most truck-like. I can live with that... How has yours been maintenance and reliability-wise?
I will be using it for 2 or 3 week trips at a clip, mostly to dark sites for astronomy and boondocking.
I appreciate your insight, and any words of wisdom.
Oh, and kudos for not having any background music(??)!!
Listening to the drill, etc., was music to my ears. Again, great woodworking skills and designs! Very glad that I subscribed! Thanks for putting all of this out there for us.
Happy travels.
Michael@@UltralightNerd
Why in the all GODS beautiful fresh air would you wear a mask out of doors? Guess this is one who took the 6th jab don't take this advise on anything.
So, if you *actually* watched the video: I explain that it’s to keep my face warm. My hands were cracking from the dry cold, and so were my lips. It has nothing to do with viral transmission. And even if it did, why are you being mean? You don’t know if have an auto immune disease or a lung infection. Be better, and I hope you’re able to heal your heart.
