They're certainly leading the pack when it comes to the consumer brands, they've had a wider range of all-electric vehicles for a while, along with a good mix of PHEV and hybrids to choose from. Pricing has been extremely competitive also.
I think the downgraded interior is only in the US isn't it? Rear vents and middle console are still in this model, whereas in the US they were removed if I am right. Here in germany the acoustic glass comes with the upgrade to the BOSE Soundsystem, which is only included in the top trim. Can be added additionally for around 700€ if I am right for lower trims.
Nice review, just picked up the ioniq 5 premium rwd LR, 2 days ago, blown away how nice it is.. glad i picked it over a tesla model 3.. the sliding, reclining back seats for the kids is phenominal feature, very underated feature 👌
Great choice! Hyundai has some excellent electrified options available with some fun, unique designs. We've enjoyed our time with all these IONIQ models we've driven thus far.
If you are worried about things rolling into the drivers feet, simply slide the centre console forward. Alternatively put your rubbish in a bin or the back sheet!

MUCH better looking than the ugly Ioniq 6. However for us Canadians we need a rear wiper. That is a non debatable must!!! However Hyundai has FINALLY smartened up and has promised rear wipers on the 2025 and up models.
how much is the annual insurance, which seems to put most people off on the ev market. The raping and pillaging of the insurance companies can kill this market. plus some will not even cover them.
That's a good question, we'd have to find an owner to go over it for us. From personal experience I was paying the same with full coverage on my 2018 Ford Focus Electric, about $105/mo in Québec as I was on my 2013 Mercedes-Benz C 300.
This is 100% the AWD frunk. RWD is, as stated by richard, much bigger. Eiher you tested the AWD or they put the wrong frunk in it for whatever reason :D
Due to US safety regulations, Hyundai went with the same tiny Frunk in the RWD in the USA. There’s probably some empty space underneath in the RWD but it’s totally inaccessible 😢
People are accepting these screens in wheels with poor interior finish and almost no room per 50k dollars new ? I understand, a electric car is fantastic in commuting and close errants. But even with taxpayer money to promote these sells, doesn't worth. But i found one used, 35k miles rwd sel per 18900. Then i think its could be a good purchase.
I do agree that the prices need to come down for them to be properly feasible. Everything is expensive though, and the likelihood prices will come down for anything is slim.

Still the best styled car I've seen in 25 years, and the EV I'd get if I needed one.
It's a refreshing style to see. It's funky and fun, but not in a weird EV way. The throw-back 8 bit design is so cool. Glad Hyundai is taking risks!

You can easily find a very low mileage 2022-2023 SEL RWD or AWD for $23-31k. One of the best deals in the car market right now.
I believe it! Used EVs are a great option right now, unlike in 2022 when we sold ours for a profit.

We're driving the Ioniq 5 N this week, they've changed it up for this model but it's unclear if the regular Ioniq 5 gets the updated console.

There are Tesla’s with 400,000 miles on the original battery. This concern is overblown.

With the small frunk you are surely testing the AWD model?
Definitely the RWD model. The front trunk is not very usable on this vehicle, but why bother with it when the rest of the IONIQ 5 is so spacious?
