Thanks for watching! Hope these tips help
Yes they do
Good stuff Alex. And what a beautiful course! Love the elevation changes.
Played Cav a few times. Some of the slopes of the greens are ridiculous 😂 Great video and great location
Excellent tips! I’d love to see another video like this.
Definitely taking one side of a fairway out of play to avoid trouble is good advice. That's something I forget to consider and just aim centre fairway most often.
Great video Alex, great tips, played Cavendish for the first time last year !!! Fantastic
Nice one Alex. Thanks from California.
Great tips. I enjoyed the video.
Great way To start the season...thks!!
Any time!
Only played Oakdale and Skipton but have played lots of courses with MacKenzie style greens, always very tough but rewarding if you hit good shots
Big Howdy from Texas! Great info!!!!! Ty as always bud.
Great tips on a great looking course. Hope to break 80 some time soon
Hiya alex played cavendish few times always enjoy it but it beats me up everytime .i am defo going be trying out your tips this weekend great tips thanks alex 👍
Love the color coding on flags wether go or play safe will need to use that one Alex thanks
Love your style of explaining everything simply.....
I appreciate that!
Thought 8 iron before you hit it on first hole.i would be equally as cautious especially with the hazards around. Great vid alex👏👏
Great video Alex .I love the course blog. I break 80 on a regular basis. My goal this year is to break 75 on a regular basis. I have shot 72 a couple of times . Par 3 holes and my Driver are my down fall . Your videos and advice are among the best out there . Keep up the good work
Alex, your one of the few pro golfers/ you tubers who has a straight strike from what I see of the shot tracers. You don’t appear to over complicate things by trying to fade or draw the ball in. My general strike / a well hit ball is straight, and I must admit on those occasions when I hit it super sweet there is something very satisfying about the ball flying bullet straight where your aiming.
Thanks guy!! I really try to keep it all
Simple
Great advice definitely be trying these tips , downhill into wind less spin never thought of it .
Alex great advice yet again, if you device a routine to use in your round for me it makes it more enjoyable. Pick a target, line up and hit the ball, a lot more fun than hitting the ball away
Absolutely great to hear you liked the video
Great advice Alex. Love your strategy for each hole played. I like to play the shots to my yardage that i feel comfortable and try to hit the middle of the green unless it is really slope. Thanks again Alex for great tips!
As ever Alex, excellent advice.
Thank you John!’
really interesting. certainly a challenging course. thanks
If sure was!! One that I love though
I had never thought of rating my shot onto a green. It sure sounds reasonable. Headed to Florida tomorrow for a week or so of non-winter golf. I’m going to give this a try!
Well done alex all about coarse management and selecting the right club 👏 👍 great par 3 😁
Glad you enjoyed it
Great tips! You do make it look easy Alex!
Hi nik!! It takes practice 🤣🤣
Great advice.my problem is starting round off good then if it goes wrong forgetting to keep these things in mind..👍
Thanks Scott!!
Thanks Alex. A nice looking intimidating course. I approach with a similar mindset as we are lucky in Melbourne with such a variety of courses (many with significant changes in altitude). These ones you really need your blinkers on, swing slow with a less lifted club is key. 👍😎🇦🇺
This was tremendous advice. Thank you Alex. Well done by you.
Thank you blaze have a great day my friend
Thanks Alex, great advice I’m definitely going to use the red, amber, green flag tip as I’m always going for the tricky pins and end up adding 1 or 2 (sometimes 3!!) unnecessary strokes to my game! Keep up the good work 👍🏻⛳️🏌🏼
Fantastic tips Alex, thanks I'll definitely use those tips. Cavendish looks a an interesting but challenging course. Very different from my flat course at Newark!
les its a must play i loved it
Great tips here
Glad you think so!
Such a nice golf course Alex!, hope you come to Madrid and play some good rounds together someday 😎🤙🏼
Stunning course Cavendish and affordable too... highly recommended
brill!
brill video thank you
Glad it helped
I’m not good enough to colour code that way but I do have a similar system as to whether short, distance or long is the best option for my shot👍👍Similar I guess but yours is more accurate
Brill! Love these tips
Thank you
I’ll definitely try using 1 or 2 clubs more in practice at 3/4 swing to see if I can hit more targets
Thanks! great video, i play golf for 10 month now - I have great speed and power but I am barely breaking 100, I am playing from the blue because my driver is 250 yards (but not consistent) we have Green, White ,Blue and Black(pro). should I play White or green till I break 90 and then go back? any other tip? my post Driver game is real good - its those times when I take 2 shots of the tee that's killing my game
Love the videos! Why do so many tees in the UK have mats?
it’s because of the poor weather !
Great advice Alex. We all need to play smart and within our abilities. We need to remind our self that because we may have bogeyed the last hole doesn't mean we are now scratch golfers for the next hole.
So when does winter arrive where you are?
Hello Steve!! Yes well Steve is here 🤣🤣 this is winter and it lasts all year 🤣🤣
Great video Alex, never thought about playing a 8 into a 100 years green. Is this Cavendish in Buxton? Great content 👍
Yes it's in Buxton
Break 80 Alex , 90 would be good for me 😂 seriously the same tips apply good watch 👍
Thanks Alex. Sound advice - I just wish I could stay focussed throughout the round. Your tips will help and I’ll try to watch this video after any round where I score more than 80. Looks like your video is going to get many, many views. 😜
What would be the one thing that would
Help you stay focused??
@@AlexElliottGolf Hi Alex. I think sticking to a routine should be my first port of call. Not a pre swing routine but more of a course management approach as you are promoting. I have gotten much better at this recently and my playing partners have commented on this but too often I get lazy, mentally, and tend to hit the tee shot I’ve done before. I need to take ten seconds to consider how the hole should be played on the day, subject to the conditions. In short I should be doing what you recommend. I will start my pre shot routine from now on with asking myself “How would Alex approach this shot?”
I enjoy your content and appreciate the straight forward, common sense guidance you provide. You deserve more viewers, they would all benefit from your input. Regards.
If I'm hitting my normal all flight .. which tends to be lower than most .. I ignore the wind at 100 yards.. so downhill, I'd take distance off. If I'm intentionally hitting a higher ball flight to avoid an obstacle, then I'd swing hard and use the correct club. Unless you're talking a real wind ..like 20mph or higher.
Hey. What's your thoughts on either Arcoss Smart Caddie or Shotscope v3? Are either any good and would they help an average golfer improve?
i think they could yeah but it down to the golfer on how they use it!
Great tips, but there are lots of times I can't see the color of flag or the flag pole, so I try to aim for the middle of the green.
great point wayne - middle of the green is never far away
Nice Alex, definitely the difference between a score in the 80's and the 70's is through thinking your way around. Great tips thanks.
I remember 3 irons from a previous century 😁
Yes 🙌🏼 🤣🤣🤣
This year after 25 years I shot 80 82 85 just can't do it 2 par 3s on my course eat me up there back to back OB left and right and tight holes lol
swing slow is always a SHANK
First hole. Into the wind and downhill so you leave yardage as it is. Should you not factor in the estimated wind speed? A gentle breeze or a raging gale? Is that even possible?
yes for sure - these things come on as you play - i would say the more you can play and experience these conditions the better you get at factoring it all in
Where is this
It's in Buxton, Derbyshire. It's my home club and in my opinion it's fantastic. It's not a long course but it's a lot trickier than the yardage suggests.
I love it simon i hope this does it justice!!
@@AlexElliottGolf absolutely, glad you enjoyed it
hooo hooooooo!
thank you michael hope you enjoyed the video
I'm about a 17 handicap, I can shoot a 80 if I don't play the last 2 holes.
Hahaha I mean that is a great way to shoot under 80 🤣🤣🤣
Massively disagree with the 3 flag colours,
Red - play middle of the green
Green - go for it
Amber leads you into 2 minds, much better to say no play to the middle of the green than take on that extra risk in my opinion
yeah fair enough!
trying to break 80 just assume every flag is red and hit to fat part of green; no big numbers!!
Yes Chad great advice
