Man I don't think I could have found a more detailed how to on making door pods. This was amazing to watch! I didn't find anything vague or anything missed. You explained very well on the process of making these pods!
After searching online for videos on how to do my own door panels yours was the best video I could find and I’m at a stand still point in the process and could really use your advice
Nice build..! As an old school installer and owner of my own shop (3yrs) I will say this... Labor is expensive & when doing the work as a DIY home project the major concern is time available to do the job as quickly & clean as possible with as little sanding as possible cause sanding sucks lol... When I did custom pods I used sweatshirt material or a thick cotton Tee-shirt type material for the single reason of I hate sanding bondo because sweatshirt material or cotton is smooth... Using fleece creates more labor with a higher cost in materials and time & all the sanding needed prior to bondo... The easy way is use the materials I mentioned & if needed do two layer for strength but since reinforcement is done by glassing the back side usually one layer is enough & by using a smooth fabric it reduces the use of bondo etc... often times a simple scuff of 80grit is all that's needed... Super nice build as a father son project..! I'm just tossing out the way I did it... Hope it helps if you do this again someday.
Been working on my first set on and off for about two months now. Ready for the paint and wiring... Been a long learning process but they will be way better than the component set in the doors now!!
@@NextLevelCarAudio no doubt! I want to try doing my doors myself. If it’s not to much to ask could you list all the tools you used? I’d greatly appreciate it!

Your son will be a great man ! You’re a wonderful teacher and I can tell you’re cool to be around! Awesome video! I am confident I can do this, thank you!
Good job for your first ones. I would recommend not leaving the flaps inside of the speaker mounting locations. Even though you cannot see them from the front, those should be trimmed flush with the hole. The long flap will get inside the speaker from the backside and over time will create noise. I also recommend the Weldwood Landau contact cement mentioned below. I've used the cement you have here and had it turn gooey and let go in the summer heat (Oklahoma), but the Weldwood Landau has never failed me.
@@blazeaglory 3M super 77 and super 90 have both turned to goo on me inside of a month in the heat. 25 years ago super 77 held great, but I tried it again a couple of years back only to have it let go. Not sure if the formula has changed or not, but I'm guessing it has over the years.
Beautiful job. All that hard work definitely paid off. Just FWIW 3M makes a spray contact adhesive that will cut that part down to just seconds. Holds like iron.

You should have put a piece on the bottom of what you’re calling the base board that’s the same shape as the opening of the pocket on the door. This way would cover the opening for the door pocket and make wrapping the door panel with the vinyl much easier and cleaner. Not bad for your first try thought.
