I’ve been working in the roofing industry straight out of high school. This past year & a half following your channel has been the best thing that has happened to me since. Thank you.
I took his Python for Everybody. It was not only an experience in learning programming only, but also an experience of the true meaning of dedication and quality teaching. May God bless him.
Becoming a master programmer takes years of experience and takes lot of real world problem solving skills. You can learn a lot in some classes but only time and motivation will make you a master.
That lesson can be applied to anything. This is why is is disheartening to have years of experience in your field (that doesn’t require a degree), but when someone comes along that paid for a college degree, they can command a higher salary with no actual experience. I’ve been told by employers “The more you know, the more you earn”, but this isn’t really true in the real world in all situations. If you’re not in a professional job, words like that are just a brass ring. Ultimately, workers should be based on what they produce, not their education. The education is supposed to facilitate one to be great in their field. The problem I see with many management jobs for example, is that job boards usually advertise “Must have Bachelor’s degree”, BUT it is irrelevant WHICH FIELD the degree is in. If you’re required to have a degree, but it isn’t specific to the job you’re applying for, IMO this is gatekeeping meant to keep people out that due to circumstance, economic, familial, etc., are not able to pay the insane costs to get a college education. With all this said, I’m glad I joined the electrical trade, and am able to carve a career path in my trade. With all the free information available online, free lectures, Udemy, etc., people should be able to take official exams for knowledge in a field and by passing them, get accreditation towards a college degree. Many of my coworkers are intelligent and knowledgeable, and it would be amazing to be able to get college credit for what we know. I went through a 4-year apprenticeship, and in turn I got nearly 40 college credit hours. Im in the process now of seeing if I can apply that toward a degree related to what I’m doing. Very exciting!
@NRGY I completely understand there are fields like law and medicine, and engineering, that years of school is required, but IMO the majority of jobs don’t need college degrees, and instead need real training and experience. In most other countries, when you go to university, you learn specifically what you intend to used, and it is free/cheap. In the USA, you take years of other courses on top of a major. Some say this is to make “a well rounded education”, but I think this is wrong. There is SO MUCH bloat in the higher education system, and the cost is all hefted onto the backs of 17-18yo kids that have been told by all the adults around them that the MUST get a college degree in order to be successful, which in turn saddles them with years of student loan debt , much of which is interest. It is abhorrent for example there are 15,000 staff at Stanford for a school that teaches about 17,000 students at one time, and that many of their staff earns 7-figure salaries.
That's the dude that taught me Python on Coursera years ago and made me switch to a completely different career path (humanities major here). Good stuff! Thank you so much and keep spreading the knowledge, Dr. Chuck.
@ethanelston4314 , well, "good" is one thing, "employable" is another. I got an offer as a junior backend dev after about 6 months of intense study and continuous job applications, but I wouldn't say I was good by that point.
I studied one of his first Python courses a while back. I didn't understand how special this teacher was until recently and this just shows it more!!! He was my first programming teaching. Master Programmer here I come!!!
I love all these Open Source concepts along with the paid option. Helping everyone. I realize that there is no barriers to learning, but the ones we put ourselves with excuses, procrastination and laziness.

I am so thankful for chuck. Within the pandemic I noticed that I am going to lose my job as an yachts-sales-agent. I started with his online python3 course just to get in to programming. He is the reason I had fun learning it, which resulted in enrolling at the university and then I decided to attend an vocational school to become an IT-Expert in Development (official german certificate) ... 1.5 years remain from now on. Thank you Chuck!!!
4:15 honestly you’re really doing a lot of people and I’ve just signed up for Coursera and joined one of your courses so myself included but you’re doing all of us huge favor a huge service and that really speaks to you as a person. Thank you. Seriously thank you for that. We need more people in the world who actually think of someone other than themselves, and how to help those who want a career want to learn but just don’t have the means to get there. I live in Canada and yet I didn’t even have any shot at all of going to either college or university until I was 29. Not through any fault of my own but because I grew up raised by my grandmother and when she got Alzheimer’s, I was 13 and she couldn’t take care of me anymore. She needed me to help her, which I did even in the nursing home. So there’s many reasons why people don’t have access to education even in first world from “ rich countries” and from families with money. Just because your family has money like my mother did doesn’t mean she’s willing to help or they’re willing to help even when things go pear-shaped. So it’s nice to see classes like this as well as these classes called MOOC, which are generally free and include some form of certification or certificate at the end. They allow entry into the chorus for people from any country in the world. And that’s wonderful. That’s a great opportunity for all of us. Keep it up.
I’m currently started to learn JavaScript with FreeCodeCamp just to start somewhere. From, what he’s saying makes me feel like python is more important but I do plan to learn Payton one day once I’ve finished with the goals I’ve set so far.
I have two bachelor's degrees. Math and Computer Science. Yet I feel I'm underperforming in my career. I'm certainly unhappy. Your videos so far in 2023 have ignited a spark in me to get off my ass and do something. Become a master programmer. I'm not far off, and I have a lot of upside. Kinda like Josh Allen in 2019 (go Bills). Dr. Chuck is amazing and I'm going to heed your advice and take advantage of these resources you are putting out there. Thank you for this content, I like the direction you're taking with your channel. I'm looking forward to more videos and to making some progress. 1% better every day.
the number of the pazel is 42 The value for the secret is a two digit integer and is the result of multiplying 6 times 7. This number appears many times in Dr. Chuck's earlier courses. :) From Iraq Love your massage dr
I started Dr. Chuck's Coursera PY4E course after I attended DefCON last year. I have been working in IT in a desktop support role for the past 19 years. Python has not come easy to me in the same way as subnet math, for instance. Thank you for the video. It is good to know that there is a path forward. BTW it was nice to meet David Bombal at Cisco Live in San Diego a few years back.
Im self teaching programming and im being careful about how to lay out my time and what to learn to make me a good hire. I even have a great candidate in a mentor with a software engineer with over 30 years experience. Python is on my personal curriculum and i feel like i stumbled on the holy grail of resources with this video! I had no idea that PY4E even existed! THANK YOU!

Your channel is great David. The people you have on your channel are the best in the business and its great how you bring on so many people from diffrent areas of cyber security and don't try to push your viewers in one direction like a lot of channels do

I cannot thank Dr. Chuck enough for the knowledge he's given out, and for David shining a spotlight on his work. I've been putting off my love for networking & programming long enough. 2023 is going to be my year to turn my life around and finally accomplish what I'm capable of, thank you so very much 🙏
I learned python from dr chucks freecodecamp course and I completed all the python courses I could get my hands on. Now im learning C++, thanks dr for getting me on this programming journey. I still have a long ways to go
I'm currently taking Python for Everybody cert, and it's been really interesting so far. I think, creating this cert was really helpful for people like me without programming background. Dr. Chuck is very enthusiastic and passionate. He makes the lessons fun and interesting. Every video and assignment is in order and there's no extra distracting information. His lessons are simplified and straight to the point, so easy to follow and learn. I really appreaciate that I can take lessons from a Michigan university professor to learn about programming. It's something I feel genuinely grateful. So thank you Dr. Chuck!
I'm taking your Python for Everybody now, and hope I can change my life. Thank you Dr. Chuck for making this free. Thank you for making this easy and consumable.
Hi, I am also thinking to enroll that course. Do you take notes as you learn from the course? I am confused between just watch, do the exercises and taking the notes as well.
This is what I've been wondering so far, I like to learn Computer Science, and contribute to open source projects like libraries, frameworks, devtools, even dive deep into Operating System, Compilers,... OSS are fine, but getting a job involve these is too much research, which requires tons of experience, or at least a degree like PHD or somehow. It's tough to get there, especially in a situation where I lack money. Your solution is awesome, be a programmer first, settle, and learn deeper about Computer Science. I'll start the journey now. Thank you so much for being such a great person!
I tried going for a computer science degree in 2017. Unfortunately, I got really discouraged as a beginner, seeing everyone in my first programming class (C++) already breezing through the course work. I passed with a C but that took everything I had. I dropped after my grades tanked, spend the time between then and now persuing an EET degree. I was one course away from graduating with my associates(internship), but keep running into new obsticals that make it seem like its not worth it... On June 1st, 2023, I started using freecodecamps responsive web design course and continute researching ways that I can teach myself for free. I can't afford to go back to school like many others. The goal is to document my journey and help others understand that you don't have to go to a college to get a good paying job. (And to stop finding ways to discurage yourself!)
Lots of love and respect to both the gentleman for the amazing video and special thanks to Dr.Chuck for making the course free and available. The way you explained I think you broke the myth that programming is not so difficult. I am planning to learn this and this is would be my first try to learn programming ever as I never tried bcos people and college curriculum made it look like it’s not everyone’s cup of team. Thank you once again for inspiring many of us to keep learning. Thank you David for the great channel and content you make. Your videos are to the point and amazing as always. God bless you both and I pray that you both get multitudes of happiness, good health and wealth in your lives.❤❤
Dr Chuck's books are the simplest one i have ever seen. Thanks for making all those free. Real life examples in books make it easy to understand every topic
Thanks a lot Sir! I appreciate it a lot! I have decided to learn programming to become a data scientist from a total zero. My basic skills to support this journey are that I can understand English well. I am good listener and can do reading consistently for long. Thanks again for this content. Hope to follow the information provided here.
Dr Chuck needs to be celebrated, this man is amazing. Im doing his Python course at the moment and I never thought I would be able to program, ive tried many, many tutorials and online courses but Dr Chuck's are the best. Hands down

Good 😊 We both got the same stories! But Now We need to proof ourselves as a champion My Friend 😁
1% better every day.
the number of the pazel is 42
The value for the secret is a two digit integer and is the result of multiplying 6 times 7. This number appears many times in Dr. Chuck's earlier courses.
:)
From Iraq Love your massage dr
I started Dr. Chuck's Coursera PY4E course after I attended DefCON last year. I have been working in IT in a desktop support role for the past 19 years. Python has not come easy to me in the same way as subnet math, for instance. Thank you for the video. It is good to know that there is a path forward. BTW it was nice to meet David Bombal at Cisco Live in San Diego a few years back.
'100 bucks is a high bar for 90% of the people in the world" his is 100% correct, thank you for the video
You're welcome! Dr Chuck is amazing!
I took a course from Dr. Chuck in 2015 and have been an employed programmer for the past 7 years.
THANK YOU!
Can't count the amount of times your videos get me through tough study phases. Thanks David and Chuck. Love to learn
Dr. Charles Severance is the MAN -a humble genius with a passion for teaching, who is on a Mission, to spread knowledge for the purpose of empowering people, to help raise them out of poverty and circumstances to achieve a higher potential. Salute and God bless!
Your channel is great David. The people you have on your channel are the best in the business and its great how you bring on so many people from diffrent areas of cyber security and don't try to push your viewers in one direction like a lot of channels do
Thank both of you: David Bombal and Chuck Severance!
Dr. Chuk is still looking young by the blessing of God . May God bless him many more success ahead and may this respected teacher aka Dr. Chuk live a happy long and healthy life (Aameen) . Sir ! Thank you sir. Your 1.5 million subs are well earned.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Dr Chuck.....you are a legend!!! I'm gonna learn Python....Even if it kills me!
I cannot thank Dr. Chuck enough for the knowledge he's given out, and for David shining a spotlight on his work. I've been putting off my love for networking & programming long enough. 2023 is going to be my year to turn my life around and finally accomplish what I'm capable of, thank you so very much 🙏
Make it happen ! Come back to this comment at the end of the year and tell us what you have accomplished. I dare you !
Chuck!
But is it free?
Dr.Chuck... Someone that really attacks the world with the right mindset and attitude. What a great guy!
This is awesome. About to add some programming skills to my network admin skills
David your channel is the best goldmine for our industry. Thank you Dr. Chuck for sharing your knowledge with all without limits, blessings to you.
Dr Chuck I'm genuinely thankful for your service. I support in any way I can to give you back.
Best regards, genuinely I'm very thankful.
Alexandr

Thank you Dr Chuck I've been looking forward to do programming( python) but because of my family background I couldn't but once I get a laptop I'll definitely look at your free courses and train up.
I'd suggest u to go through intro and basics like Syntex, etc , especially how to solve the problem ,until u get lappy (if it'll take time u can code on online on 📱, it'd be little tricky, but i know you can do it 😊)
@@Heheidkr6038 thank you ♥️

Besides taking all the courses listed above, if there is any way I can better prepare and stand out please let me know.
In my opinion, he is totally right when he said 100$ fees could prevent people in some places in the world from learning programming. Thank you both very much for this valuable information
