    I rock an rp with the 24-105 f4, 70-200 f4, and an ef 50 1.8.
    Great little amateur package to start with.
    Eventually going to move toward a better camera body.
    But until then, I’m super happy with things as an amateur enthusiast getting back into photography after an extremely long break.

      Glad to hear you don't think it's too far 😅 For the last few months I've pushed myself to go heavier on the edits to try to learn a bit more in Lightroom. Sometimes I feel it's too far but it has helped me a lot to experiment. I'll definitely do something this summer like that, more than just some speed editing. Since our daughter was born a few weeks ago, I’m using this 24-105 F4 much more and as you said: it is very convenient to use the different focal lengths. Hi, i recently got the R7 and i am thinking of buying the RF 24-105 F4. Currently i have my EF-S 17-55 F 2.8 with an adapter. Is there huge difference in image quality compared to my current 17-55? Would you advice me buying the RF 24-105? Thanks in advance

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  Рік тому

      Ooo, how are you liking the R7 so far? It's been awhile since I used the 17-55, last with my T7i. I don't have them both in hand but the 24-105 is probably a little bit sharper. Personally I would be considering 1) Do you want the weather sealing to match the body and 2) Do you want to get a lot more reach on the long end. If you don't have anything longer than 55, the long end will be fun. But 17 vs 24 is a big jump too, and I would miss that range. So just consider that along with what you shoot most and what other lenses you have.

      @@DanYosua i love the R7. I am mainly doing video projects and the 4k fine is amazing. Also having the 10bit clog3 is amazing. Lookin forward to a video on the RF 14-35! I'm leaning towards this over the 15-35 because of the size, cost and weight. I'm also interested in trying astro photography, so a video helping with that would be cool too. Like focal lengths, apertures, camera settings, etc. I'm not educated in editing so hopefully I can get some good images or of the camera. When it comes to editing my videos, I just splice them together without color grading.

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  3 роки тому +1

      I just saw it was officially announced! I'm pretty intrigued by it as well. Seems like it has a super close focusing distance, but because of the occasional astro, I'm not sure if I'll ever buy it at f4. I think it would work great for me otherwise. I'll have to see as we get closer to release. I'm hoping to review my 14mm shortly after getting back from my trip, hopefully one of the July videos!

  • @behystudio

    Great video man. I'm also using T7i rn and was thinking about getting the RP over 6Dmkii and 90D. but I might w8 for the R3 since it might be the BEST hybrid camera from canon hopefully without any overheating and recording limit.

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  3 роки тому

      That would be a huge jump. I'm hoping there are better thermals but at the same time, if indeed there will be an R1, I think R3 might still be stills first 😅 I shoot probably 75% of my stills vertical so I'm looking at the grip to get closer to that form factor.

    Great video! How do you like the pack? I have a ton of packs I've used here on the channel but none that do both well - Carrying my camera gear and being a great hiking bag. I have had my eyes on Fstop for a while. Were some of those shots in Evergreen Colorado? Look's like my backyard!

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  3 роки тому

      Thanks! I'll def check out some of your vids for some gear opinions as I get more into that. We did most of our hikes around Boulder and Estes.. I don't think we got quite as far south as you, but I'll note that area for next time. I honestly searched forever and I don't think there are that many GREAT options. I'm still loving it, and have been meaning to push a video up in my queue about it. But I also went with something this big so that it could hold everything. If I didn't have a need for a "mobile gear closet", I would have gone smaller because, as you might expect, it's heavy. On those hikes, I would often settle on what I wanted to pack camera-wise and would leave the rest. For longer hikes (and especially at altitude and being out of shape with covid) I didn't bring much camera gear. If I went smaller I was probably leaning shimoda x30 over the fstop lotus 32 but another tough call. The one downside is that this bag probably works best if you use a water bladder. The side pockets can hold the peak design tripod but that's tight. Bigger water bottles are too wide to fit nicely in the zip up side pockets. So I'll often either put my bottle in the bigger of the two top pockets and/or clip it to the hip belt. But so far that's my one nitpick.

    How is the dust sealing on this particular RF lens? I've heard photographers having a nightmare with Tamron and Sigma's current 24-70 due to dust getting sucked in to the lens due to poor sealing on the extending lens barrel. To your knowledge, does the RF F4 24-105mm L have a filter between the extending barrel and the main barrel to prevent dust from getting sucked into the lens? Or in your extensive use of the lens, have you detected any issues with dust [long term use]?

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  2 роки тому

      Not sure how I missed this so long and not positive on the filter. I believe there is some kind of seal, but I don't think it can be a totally airtight. I haven't had any issues whatsoever yet, but in the grand scheme, I still haven't had this lens all that long despite using it frequently (purchased May 2020).

    • @DanYosua

      I generally think it's great for that type of use case, but if you know you prefer ultra wide shooting, then you might feel you're missing out. I have a newer vid NZ where I brought this. There are a few instances where I shot some panos or pulled out my iPhone specifically for the ultra wide lens. I want to have something wider in my bag eventually, but typically feel comfortable with 24mm. I used to shoot everything 1.8-2.8 early on, but to get that look, try shooting between f5.6 and f11. Just go out for a day and lock yourself at f8 to practice. It will really force you to improve your composition skills too, as you can't blur out distracting elements as easily. If you practice shooting stopped down like this for a bit you will likely notice you'll be learning all sorts of new stuff. I should have embraced it wayyyy earlier myself!
