Hello my name is Lonnie and My wife is Connie.
Here at Far North Bushcraft And Survival you will learn about many long forgotten tricks and tips of the old time woodsmen. Not only will you learn about bushcraft / woodcraft but you will learn many things that will help you to survive in less than ideal "survival" situations as well. Come along and sit with me by the campfire as I delve into these subjects in a way that you can easily learn to then do yourself.
I will show you how to make shelters, gather food, use wild medicines as well as start fires without matches, lighters, ferro rods, etc - Навчання та стиль
An excellent idea and very fast to assemble 'in the field' with just 3 sticks. Instead of Cordura, I used an old shower curtain made of a medium weight material which seems just as good as Cordura, but much much cheaper to source. Also, I sewed in 3 thin leather circles at each of the triangle points, inside each pocket, just to further reinforce and protect the material.
I used this yesterday while out on an overnight trip, and found it very comfortable and practical to use while sitting there crafting tent pegs, a new handle for my axe and carving a spoon or two, amongst other things. Just keeping in with practice.
Thanks for the idea, and at 2.4 ounces (the one I made anyway) it's easily rolled up and fits nicely in the bottom of my cargo pocket.
Use holiday wrapping paper for your template. Almost everyone has some in a closet somewhere. Its plenty big enough. Use the white side for your layout lines.
Thanks Loni, I don't like sitting on the ground anymore, especially in a cold Alaska rain.
This is truly a portable chair that will bring joy to oneself and impress others outside!
Never underestimate the importance of a good, comfortable - and above all : DRY resting place , after all the hard work setting up a camp. Great video!
My right ear enjoyed this.
I've been pondering making my own tripod chair for more than 30 years... ( I always think of it at camp, and never at home) lashing together branches for legs is genius!!!
Every now and then I stumble back to your channel by chance and I always learn something new
Welcome back.
Lonny, some times you scare me! I was just going to go down to the shop to try and make a leather tripod chair, just wanted to watch your latest video of your boat first. At the end, I was going to close the laptop and head down, but I saw a related vid of yours, this vid! I've been thinking about making this tripod chair for a month now, and here you are, making this chair! This is not the first time that this has happened with your vids. That is trippy! Haha, all the best, and thanks for the vids.
This is just further proof that great minds think alike my friend. :o)

Very clever little chair! Love this idea!
Great design, Lonnie! I have made a few of these now. I just used a piece of poster board for my template, as that is what I had at home. Easier to trace around, as it is thicker. I made my last one using neon orange 1000D Cordura. I put 3” Grosgrain loops on each triangle (they are on the bottom of the pockets, and stick out past the ends of the material about 1”). So now, my camp stool is multi-purpose: stool, signal panel, backpack cover during hunting season using cordage/small carabiner to attach it, waypoint marker, and a place to catch shavings from fat wood, etc.
Useally I sit on my backpack in the woods. Not very comfortable. I made this chair today and it's really comfortable. Thanks for this video Lonnie!

what a bloody good video.
I followed your instructions to build one of these with canvas, and I just featured it in my latest video if you're interested in seeing the outcome! I gave you credit of course! Thanks for the video, the chair works excellent, and I couldn't have built it without this video and your expertise. Huge fan from Canada! Thanks Lonnie :)
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed the video and that it was useful for you. I'll check out your channel and video.
excellent vidio thank you might give it a try
Lonnie,
As usual, great and concise instructions. I just finished laying out my chair using heavy brown paper. Something I learned and wanted to pass on when laying out the pockets. As you suggested, fold it over the top. Then fold it underneath and mark it using a straight edge. This way seemed easier to me to mark and cut.
Bob
Thanks BobSprGa for your recent heads up on an issue. I do not know if you will see my reply to you on that issue since UA-cam does not notify users on certain replies. I appreciate the heads up.
Wow looks awesome! Thanks for sharing! Will make mine from 1000D Finnish M05-camouflage canvas!
Another nice chair Lonnie! I've been using a commercial tri-pod chair for years in my deer blinds, but the legs are attached so I don't like to backpack with it. It's time to make one like this for my pack! Thanks much my friend! ATB Sty
good camp chair lonnie
I made one of these and it works just fine. I reinforced the corners by cutting three pieces from a milk jug, folding them and sticking them in the corner pockets. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much.
Buck is looking very handsome!
I made mine with TA outdoors tripod canvas seat. I had to work with the lashing a bit until I got it just right. Thanks for the video. It has helped me out a lot.
Thank you so much for this video. So helpful in making the seat for the tripod chair.
I watched many videos but yours is the first that shows how to cut the material and sewing the ingenious way. Your explanation so clear with the measurements given. Well done !!!
Very simple and effective great job. I have material that would work perfect for this. Thanks for sharing.
