When i was just starting to really get into music my cousin let me borrow a tape of these guys i and was blown away. 28 years later and i still love these songs. No one has ever sounded like them.
I saw them live in 2022... In Europe. I am pretty sure I was the only one who knew the lyrics, or the sexuality during this song, I am American, and have been a fan for a looooong time-- since their first album fan. It was glorious.
Being a Canadian you would hear this all the time on the radio. Everytime I hear this specific song it makes me miss my papa. He has been gone for 10 years now and I still tear up when I hear this.
saw crash test dummies 95 I think on big mountain in whitefish Montana .......this band 20 years plus later is really truly something special........me and dad walked down to Kalispell mall and bought this album.......he was so good at finding music in the times before the internet.........I would just like to say to the crash test dummies ....your music is seriously deep and amazing ...this album will most likely leave this earth with me when we all see god shuffle his feet......thank you guys
I've seen the Dummies in concert 3 times, have all their albums, and have never seen them as a novelty band. It's as if Brad Roberts writes lyrics about what we're all thinking about but never think to write down. I love it! #dummyhead
Always have a message to be heard. I fell in love with their music then and it still makes me want to sing along, plus, his voice is in a range I can actually sing
Man this has a comedy lounge feel to it lol I miss these guys on the radio lol them, the Barenaked Ladies, and the Tragically Hip were my favorite Canadian bands back then
I don't recall it made mainstream radio ....but in the day I heard it on university stations ( am) this is America you can speak as you wish ! Inspite of what you are being told ! It's still true
Today a very underrated bands as a whole. Incredible sound, a fun sense of humour with lyrics appearing to be "simplistic" but with poetic power. I love this band. :)
I love love love love love love love love love Crash Test Dummies come out with a new songs I just can listen to these over and over and over again I love you guys in your voice and your music oh God bless you you make this woman so happy and I'm 74 and still still have😇♥️👍😉🤩 it going on
Bought this album in 1996 & played it a million times since. It never ages... Swimming in Your Ocean is one of the best songs ever written, easily......
I've been listening to CTD for 24 years! Brad's voice is unique! On top of that, the band is just über amazing!❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 I saw them in Portland a few years ago, and they were ever bit spectacular as ever! I cant say enough good things about this group! Keep on doing your magic CTD!❤❤😂🎉
A nice touch is how the band is introduced as "Brad Roberts and Crash Test Dummies." In the video, it is hinted that the rest of the band hates his guts. This was untrue in reality, but it really works in the video.
There was a dynamic gong on, and Brad was not the guy to de-escalate the situation, shall we say. I just saw the 25th anniiversity tour several moths ago with my son and it waw truly epic.Hope you like this comment, i hate typ[ing on my chromebook, it took some effort haha
This has always been my favorite song off the album since it came out when I was in high school. Yet somehow I never knew there was a video for the song. Wow. The video makes the song even better. XD His off-beat dancing, the oversized jacket. This is just awesome. 👏🏻
brad did a solo gig in ontario +/- 7 years ago. still boggles me i sat 15 unobstructed feet from him and he performed, as this video, dummies tunes. This voice is a league like no other.
Love this song! The laid-back tempo, wonderful backup vocals, and the feel of the drum track are great. The metal pipe(?) on the 4th beat of the chorus. And the lyrics are downright hilarious! Such distractions! How inappropriate! ;-)
Bizarre video but it was the 90's and I was there 👍 My favourite CTD song, the perfect video would just be a black screen as I always close my eyes when I listen to it
born in the fifties, raised with Dylan, beatles, rod stewart, rascals, tom petty, bruce, yeah it 2019, and these guys are timeless; sit back, enjoy originality
Have been listening to this album since the 90s when today I wondered if there were videos so I came to youtube. They did not disappoint. Weird as hell. Love it!
Ellen Reid is the jewel of this sl band. American living in Indiana.. Bought this album at 15 years old, when it first released and have loved it ever since
Been listening to this for 31 years ... terrific band! One of their best albums too! Sad thought crossed my mind: most of the audience members of this video are not likely with us anymore. :(
My brother and I loved this song when we were kids and had no idea how incredibly, gloriously filthy it was. My parents must have been laughing behind their hands every time we played it on the stereo
I can totally relate to this. More than once I have been swimming in an ocean only to start wondering about UFOs, or if the floor needs cleaning. Great songwriting 😂😂 Love this song.
Best part of this (studio recorded version of the) song is the guitar riff and the "dum-de-dum (wait one beat) krah-tsch-tsch from the drums and the China at the end. Looped obviously, but I love it...
After hearing the popular track ‘mmm mmm mmm mmm’ in 94 I went out and bought the God Shuffled His Feet album and have been listening ever since. You don’t hear them on the radio anymore and were meant to be on tour this year which will now continue next year.
This was the first cassette tape I ever bought back in '93. Still just as otherworldly and evocative as then. FYI - Cassette tape: a compact case containing a length of magnetic tape that runs between two small reels used for recording or playback of audio :D
I love the fact that you explained a tape 😂this next generation will have to Google it anyways cause they know nothing of tapes CDs records and eight track tapes and players it's sad really
The entire album is a masterpiece. Been listening since 1994.
We'll see what happens when you come back to work Tuesday
I know would have know if it wasn’t for UA-cam
also been listening since 1994 i was 4 years old my dad played this
Exactly
1993
This song & this album got me through some really tough and lonely times during one torrid year back in 1995-96. I listened to it constantly.
One of the first audio cassette tapes I ever purchased.
Thank you. It did the same for me. I can’t stop listening.
this album is getting me through some really tough and lonely times right now
Almost like The Smiths. I feel ya
Buy this album. Timeless.
I had their album when it was released in the early 90s
It’s in my top 5 albums of all time. I now own it on vinyl.
Bought it on vinyl a week ago
I will be adding it to my collection.. I loved there songs, never owned any? I need to now X

*ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED SONG’S OF THE 90’S (IF NOT EVER)*
This whole album is amazing
Agreed it’s oddly compelling
I agree! This was my favourite of theirs! Better than Mmmm...I loved it from the second I heard it in my teens! Loved the video! ❤️
One of their best songs
fantastic band, and yeah, this is my favourite song of theirs
When i was just starting to really get into music my cousin let me borrow a tape of these guys i and was blown away. 28 years later and i still love these songs. No one has ever sounded like them.
Ellen's voice in this song just makes it so beautiful. She is so harmonious.
Her voice with Brad's has always been heavenly...goosebumps inducing too.
Gotta love Ellen. 🙂
Yeah, great voice, and the harmonies are unusual. Reminds me of a few things by the New Pornographers, and Wendy Smith's vocals with Prefab Sprout.
Had such huge crush on Ellen after the dumb and dumber soundtrack! 😊
I love the sense of humor this band has.
Straight out of left field. Love it too!

This should have been a huge hit. Such a great song
Who never stopped listening ? 😎... ❤️.... 2020 and beyond ...

This song has never left my rotation since it came out when I was in high school. Haha.
2022😎
Still listening in 2022
Being a Canadian you would hear this all the time on the radio. Everytime I hear this specific song it makes me miss my papa. He has been gone for 10 years now and I still tear up when I hear this.
Why don’t I hear them anymore though? On Xm radio I hear many good songs but same ones on repeat. Never them! I miss them.
@@Mama_Bear524 I agree, I miss them also. Thank goodness for UA-cam lol
@@BoyGeorge84 I’ve gone down a deep rabbit hole tonight watching them and crying. It’s making me emotional. Making me miss my mom.
I'm just starting to rediscover them. For sure a time capsule back to the 90s.
Bassist and drummer are SO locked in. Most overlooked rhythm section of the 90s pop bands. Where the hell do they get the ideas for these videos?😅
Brad was dropping the mic way before anyone else... I just adore this video🦋💕

Such an underrated song that's simply beautiful.
What makes you think it's underrated?
Obviously you weren’t paying much attention in the mid 90s then.
Agree completely.
Because when I say "Crash Test Dummies" all I get is blank stares. A few *might* remember "mmmmm" but not this one, ever @@gogoyubari366
3 things we don't hear anymore.

Not sure which I’m mesmerized more by, Brad’s shiny, long hair or his voice.

Call me crazy but I like Ellen’s background signing a lot, and she’s hot.
such a great guitar riff.. and song of course.
The bass player has pocket. Very nicely played. Keynotes and subtle licks. His playing does this song justice.
Hell yeah. The bass player hit bullseyes on every track.
Dan Roberts is excellent!
Absolutely! If you listen to all of their songs the bass is just awesome. It enhances the songs greatly!
Long time fan here. So glad to see these videos going up!
One of my favourite all time albums. Have this on VHS but it's a bit past it. Great to see it clearly again. Thanks for posting

I wish a man sings this to me some day. I find it expresses what profound love is, with both lyrics and music. Humour included.
This is a great album and such a brilliant song!! They don't make them like they use to!
Every time I hear this song, the nineties come rushing back! 1 of my favorite songs ever! 😀

@Elvis Andrumora Creamy & chocolatey. lol. ☺
These lyrics are romantic and a product of a celtic oriented philosopher and curious mind... as Brad is.
I keep a warm spot in my heart for this band. I love the humor and melody
