Well thought out, very nice upgrades. I'm currently building my system now, also with a remote fuel can. Much easier to transport the heater case inside the rig without the can attached. I'll try it without the air breather 1st to see the vacuum effect, then decide on the breather it it gets too bad.

No problem. I was thinking about adding a vacuum relief, but so far, I haven't needed it yet. I just open it every now and then. The Jerry can design allows for some flex. But if you want to set it and forget it, then a relief would be advised.

Just bought this heater and came across your video (Great by the way). I did have a question on how did you get the 12vdc cable to fit upside down; did you file down the guide on the receptacle, because I saw the wires were reversed?
Thanks! I just removed the terminal from the case and reinstalled it in the reverse orientation.

I'd just get the "stand pipe" as they call it and put it in a 5 gallon plastic fuel can of some kind or large plastic jug (you can buy them cheap of get them free) That way I'm not constantly filling that cheap little gallon tank the unit came with.
As for the air filter, all that's needed is to drill more holes in the muffler and line it with some kind of filter cloth and there's your filter!
Sounds good. But that doesn't really solve the problems I set out to fix.
This is really helpful. I am basically following your guide and purchased every part you listed. Are you willing to sell the 3D printed mount for the control unit? I have the same issue that the mount that came with the heater is too small.
I'm glad this is helpful. Unfortunately I'm not selling 3d prints at the moment. I only have one printer and my schedule is currently really busy. But I found the file on thingiverse and just needed to modify the dimensions on the one axis in the splicer prior to printing. I hope that helps.

This is a very sweet setup and well thought out. I love how the system remains primed due to the marine disconnects utilized. Was there any reason that you decided to go this route rather than one of the cap adapters such as the Sealy JCA2? Is there anything that you wish you had done differently?? Thank you so much for any additional information you can offer. This thing seems great!
Thanks! The main reason was for the marine fittings, to both keep it primed, and leak free. I wanted to keep the fill port clear, so I didn't have to pull a siphon tube out and make a mess when filling. As far as changes, it pretty darn close to perfect for me. With one exception, if I forget to vent the lid for long runs, it will create a vacuum that will stop fuel flow. So I am going to use one of those lid adapters to install a vacuum release.

Great video ! The only issue i deal with this diesel heater is that my 12v output can't handle the ignition. I have an ecoflow river 2 pro and overload protection hits during the ignition. Do you have any issue with your 12v output?
Thanks! I have not had those issues. Not sure why, but I have heard other people having the issue. They use a dc converter and plug in to the ac inverter on their power bank to make it work.
This is a great design! Do you have any issues with air bubbles when you disconnect the marine couplings? Boat gas cans use primer bulbs, do you not need one of those?
Thanks! And no bulb needed. The marine fittings keeps the line full of fuel, so no priming necessary. You do have to vent the can every day or so depending on temp and usage. If you accidentally push on one of the plungers for marine fitting, that can introduce some air in the line. But the heater recognizes no heat issues and keeps the igniter lit longer. If that small amount of air even causes an issue.
@@SFARCO It looked like you had to push really hard to connect the marine hose fitting to the one you mounted on the heater case and in this video you were pushing back on the inside while you were connecting it. Do you think the plastic case is strong enough to withstand the force?
Not all fittings are that stiff. These ones were but have since worn in and gotten easier. The plastic has been holding up great so far.
Will the elbow piece you have linked fit with the manufacturer muffler or do i have to purchase the one you linked to make it work?
It will fit the muffler that comes with the heater. But the elbow is the same diameter as the exhaust port on the heater. So a small kink with pliers on one end of the elbow is required to make it fit.
I’ve been looking at the same diesel heater. Noticed you had a Bluetti to power it. Which model is it and how long do you get out of it for the heater?
The model is the AC50S. Hard to say how long I get because I am always running other devices off of it at the same time. And I top it off during the day with solar or something. But it will last quite a while if you are NOT* starting and stopping the heater a bunch.
What size line are you using for the hard fuel lines on the inside of your unit? The line I purchased from the link provided seems a bit small to fit the barb for the fuel pump and filters. Is there a trick to installing them?
It comes with black sleeves that slide over the tube and pump orifice. And clamps to secure them.

I have the same unit but mine overheats with the king hose attached the same way as yours. It doesn’t stay on and I’m going to replace the temp sensor but it’s relatively new unit with low hours. Only used it one successful night and after that it keeps overheating.
Sorry to hear that, have you tried contacting the manufacturer?
What is the actual internal diameter of your hose? I bought a supposed 3 inch hose but real diameter of 2.5". It was causing back pressure and overheating my unit. I tested with the metal hose the unit came with and had zero issues with overheating.
did you use the 1/2 inch exhaust insulation or 1”?

I set my diesel heater up just like yours and It seems the pump is too weak to get fuel through the fat marine line. Did you have any problems priming your lines?
I would recheck all your joints. They may be tight enough to not leak diesel, but loose enough for an air leak, which will prevent your pump from picking up diesel.
Did you ever get your fuel pump corrected? I just bought this heater and it states in manual that the 'pump capacity setting' can be increased or decreased, using the LCD panel settings/options.
Im curious where you found the 12v power cord. I too want to run this from my power station.

No problem, I had a hard time finding a quality 12v cigarette plug. This one fit the bill.
What Bluetti are you using?
The AC50S.
How’s you get your bluetti to power it? I bought a eb70s and it won’t run mine throws a error code
I didn't do anything, just plugged it in. I would try contacting the manufacturer, and see what they say.
@@SFARCO I've had the same issue. It's because the Bluetti 12v cig lighter is limited to 10 amps. However, these diesel heaters can pull 12-15 amps at startup while the glow plugs are coming up to temp. Looked into it and the only way around it is to use a power supply to convert from DC to AC and use the AC outlets on the power station.
@syedhaqqi384 Yeah, mine is also supposed to be regulated to 10 amps, but I haven't had any issues. I guess mine isn't as strict. AC50s is the model I have.
Have you figured out how to prime the heater using the controller?
You have to hold the gas pump button on the lower left part of the controller during the self check mode when you first turn it on. Hold it until the screen displays -P- and the pump icon lights up. Then you have to let go of the butto before the timer runs out. If the self check is over, you can't enter the priming mode. Hope this helps.
Can it be operated on its side/horizontal?
It can if you pay attention to the orientation of the glow plug. The glow plug needs to be on top. I do believe it orientated so you can lay it on the side that the tank attaches to.
Doesn't look weatherproof so how do you use it if it's raining or snowing?
It wouldn't be good to completely seal it up so it's water tight. The heater needs to breath to dissipate extra heat. I put mine under my awning or under my vehicle.
Any leaking at the stand pipe gasket?
I have had no leaking whatsoever.

Did you have to vent that gas can?
You can run it for a while without venting it. But if you are running it for a long time you will need to open it to vent it. Small trade off for not leaking. It was the cheap vented cap that leaked for me.
You can definitely add a good check valve to it if you don't want to deal with manually venting it.
