They’re not a real group. It’s a bunch of musicians and artists collaborating to make a virtual group. It was created by Damon Albarn from Blur (he sings on most tracks) and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett. They work with hip-hop producer (one of my favs) Dan the Automator as well as Danger Mouse. They have features such as Del the Funkee Homosapian (who raps on this track)(Hieroglyphics, Deltron 3030), De La Soul, Shaun Ryder, Bobby Womack, Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Mos Def, Vince Staples, Roots Manuva, MF DOOM, Miho Hatori (Cibbo Matto), Lou Reed (Velvet Underground) and a ton of other musicians. I’d recommend checking out the track with Vince Staples live at the Life is Beautiful festival. The song is called Ascension.
Yeah 80s feel for sure. Others have mentioned who the rapper was. But the dude that's 1/2 of Gorillaz (Damon Albarn) is also from a band (Blur) which formed in the late 80s & had a bunch of hits in the 90s. The other 1/2 of Gorillaz is Jamie Hewlett (the animator) who is best known for the Tank Girl comics which also came out in the late 80s. So your intuition was correct--it's got the 80s all over it.
Del the Funky Homosapien has one of the best flows of any rapper alive today... His phrasing and accidence and cadence is more like a musician playing an instrument rather than just a dude rappin'... The description I've ever heard is : Imagine a super chill slower Busta Rhymes that has never ever taken life too seriously.... Thats Del the Funky Homosapien
Kinda funny they miss shot the entire lyrics from the start. He isn't happy, he's feeling glad which means he's masking it. Sunshine in a bag refers to him stuffing away his joy becoming emotionless. "Rhythm. You have it or you don't, that's a fallacy", meaning that is a false thought, you don't have it or don't. You can always develop rhythm and the whole idea that you're born with it is false.
Ive always loved this song! The beat and lyrics be on point! Especially the part “you don’t see with your eye, you perceive with your mind”. Real talk!
Fun fact (maybe) he was going through a real bad heroine addiction when he made this album and you definitely get that vibe listening to the whole album. The best for this song was also the rock 1 preset on his keyboard/music machine.
@@tretvfrmdabx2544 I did. Becoming one of my favorite reactors! Please check out Yelawolf- To whom it may concern. There’s no video but it’s a deep track and I think you’ll like it. It has substance and he’s talking in it! 🙏🏼
"Rhythm, you have or you don't.. That's fallacy, I'm I'm them".. Basically, the idea that you either have rhythm or you don't is false, a logical fallacy, because he's possessing everyone and giving them the rhythm.. "Possess you in one go"..
OMG je kiiiiffff grave mon acteur préféré Clint Eastwood super merci les gars je vous adores cool très bon choix et réacts un bonjour depuis France 👍👏😱🇫🇷
My mother is friends with the person that came up and sold them that verse (i aint happy im feeling glad i got sunshine in a bag im useless but not for long the future is coming on)
"Rhythm, you have it or you don't, that's a fallacy; I'm in 'em, every sproutin' tree every child of peace" Means nothing can't have rhythm because everything does by nature.
The line is “You have it or you don’t, that a fallacy” so it’s a lie basically. I’m sure others have already said this bit just in case. Del rocks the house. 🏠
Ino rite!! Old school style! Fkn love Gorillaz! 💯My kiddo knows when i put it on😂hes like thats the Gorillaz mommy😂😂 I like the virtual thing bcz they didn't really want to be exposed & they can still live the good life in private,so I respect that 💯it's the bond& love of the music it doesn't matter what nationality you are,if take that totally out of the context& animate it! That's where the true lovers of music really shines& that is so deep 🔥🔥🔥
I love Gorillaz I also love the inclusive cast they got a white British or American dude I think he's British though black guy that got a Asian girl and they got a guy who is like a demon love it. But no really they are one of my favorite bands❤
Drag beat, I'm guessing, given song title Clint Eastwood, is a throw back from 'Spaghetti Westerns', Clint wounded in his horse. Some songwriters encompass more dan da 'hook'. Multi layers, dats why Dee are extraordinary composers Nd wordsmiths
Hes saying “ I aint happy, im feeling glad i got sunshine in a bag. Im useless” so he isnt happy but he has sunshine in a bag which i kinda think = drugs.
Del funky is the only MC who can do this part. Gorillaz have had others come on and change up the verses..it's not the same, he has a specific tone and inflection in his voice that works.
The opening beat came from a store bought keyboard thing and it was the Rock preset 1 and the keyboard and a feature that allowed you to restart/remix the beat lol ua-cam.com/users/shortsWn0NtSNeQEQ?si=zPyekewseg4fyMZc
Gotta a band that is deep, check out the band Wheel and the song Dissipating, they flip the script lyrically very poetic and the music is beautiful, check them and tell me what you think, it's a different genre of music
You guys didn't listen to that verse. "rhythm, you have or you don't, that's a fallacy!" He was saying that's not true. You guys took it as he was saying that you either have rhythm or you don't and acted like he was preaching that but he said that's a fallacy which is a lie.
This is a dope track, and the video really makes it. But the rapping is... very simplistic and low hanging fruit. At least for me. Listen to the alternative version with Phi Life Cypher. It's not the standard for a easily digested hit, but the lyrics and delivery are so much stronger. And it even has a synth vibe to it that I'm sure was inspired by some oldschool Newcleus - Computer Age.
This band is a virtual band with 2 people who created it 👍👍👍
They said this was some Kanye shit....LOL Kanye stole this shit and many others.
To be fair, most bands are actually virtual anyway, a brand image presented by a record label to sell product.
@@TheCursedCat1927 They are all the same to me.

One of the most captivating badass songs of all time! Del the Funky Homosapian drops an amazing flow. The production so good.
Deltron 3030 remains a 🐐 rap album
He said it's a fallacy that you either have rhythm or you don't. 🍋
I don't think they know what fallacy meant...
The guy who's rapping is Del The Funky Homosapien. Ice Cube's cousin.
Ty put some of respect on the deltron....I can't even find good music y'all it's out there 🫡
I can't believe many people first time hearing this song..
I worked in a head shop when I was in college, and we wore out two copies of this CD in a year.

Del the Funky Homosapian was a favorite of mine along with Souls of Mischief back in the day
If you listen to this with headphones on, the part where he whispers " that it's all in your head " literally sounds like it's in your head. 😅
I was waiting for this one 😃

This is my all time favorite song by “Gorillaz” ❤💜🥰

Fun fact: that beat is actually from a Casio Keyboard preset sound.

Did you know that beat from this song comes from a preset tune from a electric keyboard
The beat is a rock preset on a readymade instrument. That's the best part. The best beats are hiding in plain site.
