He actually carried smoking pot, although more sporadically, until more or less four or five years ago. His second wife Heather Mills stated that he carried on smoking weed during their time together, and Paul self admitted he left pot for good only a few years ago
This guy is really underrated. He's done some pretty good stuff as a solo artist, but his first band, from early in his career, is really worth checking out. The Beatles - they have some decent records.
Very impressive...especially for a man in his 70's. What a career. Wrote half of the amazing Beatles catalog and then has an amazing multi decade long solo career with too many hits to count. No one will ever top that. NO ONE.
I really like this version: more guitar sound to replace the horn section. And holy crow I love Wix’s rocking the synth-brass for the solo part. I love Sir Paul and I love his band. They can play anything ❤️❤️❤️
Scott Reed great? ah jeez... watch Kampuchea 1979 live version and then this back to back... I have just done that... and boy, they difference is just... beyond any words...
@@DanRelayer_Ukraine he still sings every song in the same key, even during his 2022 live concert, and he still sounds okay even with his age. My grandfather at the age of 70 had his voice shot already, and he didn't even smoke or do dr*gs like paul did during his younger days.
Best pop/rock songwriter of all time? Loved the original video with him and Linda playing different parts esp Paul parodying his head shaking 60s mop top self 😍
@@jamesconklin120 disagree, I think that's what was missing on the hofner. Thus performance has the beautiful sound of that bass and the power of the song
@@RyleeStrange It may be apocryphal, but supposedly John Lennon heard this song and thought it was so great that he decided to become active again and started work on what would become Double Fantasy. I'd like to see some documentation on that, though, since this is the exact kind of McCartney song that Lennon seemed to hate. But it's credible since Lennon may have been feeling more positive about things, as reflected in songs from Double Fantasy, and was able to relate to the sentiment in the song.
keauxgeigh I guess he was focusing more on the instruments than the lyrics. Cause McCartney 2 as a whole is very experimental, and this song as well, but only the album version.
buenisima version de coming up....mas circa de la version original... y rompiendo al final con un cadencia/riff de rock roll bien cool... era la favorite de lennon...
I like to look at the older concerts of him and other bands...Not because of the fresher sound but because the fans were totally involved unlike now where they stand like statues with their cam phone in hand.
Incredible rich tone from that Hofner bass. Only Paul makes that thing sing like that.
I liked that little Peter Gunn bit he threw in there !!
Most 20 and 30 something year olds can't sing those notes. For a guy in his 70's and a former smoker of 25 years, he's still killing it.
+RobbyMinx God bless him
25? I'd say 50 years smoker (Not of cigarettes, I mean)
he leaves the pot in the 90s,,,for hes childrens,,,,,

Tame Impala.
The man is a treasure to music.
I always package this song with "Goodnight Tonight" in my mind. I wish he would revive that one!
I wish it too
@Craig Cardone that songs great

I like that "Paperback Writer" from them. But yeah, worth a listen. Some good tunes.
Oh yeah.... I heard about them they did pretty good songs!
I also loved his side-group "The Wings", didn't really go anywhere, but some great hidden, underground music there :-P

This man is a legend, he sings great for his age, and the bass sounds awesome. Long live Paul McCartney.
Wow, at 70 he's still performing this song, imagine Beatle Paul singing this song 😍
The man is a legend
I love it at 2:26 when they jump into the "Peter Gunn" theme!
drummer has a great groove! no rushing the tempo!
LIVING LEGEND!
I'm 15, he's 71. He still sings better than me.
Thank god I'm not alone in knowing abstract Paul Songs

Abstract?? This was a MASSIVE hit for him in '79.

Long live Sir Paul!!!
One of my favourites by Sir Paul...glad he did this uplifting tune...it is largely forgotten in his back catalogue i think...
Beatles, Paul McCartney, dedication to mankind!!!
What a performance ! Musical arrangements are so perfect !
Always love this funny song. So cool !
Sounds very great!!! Paul, you're a GENIUS!!!
First heard this live in 1979. Amazing at the time.
Just discovered this song this year classic🤘🏾
I love this song, just can't stop dancing
This is my new favorite!! I love all the versions..
Que excelente versión de este gran clásico. Larga vida al genio de Liverpool
Macca te amo!
I think 🤔 he sounds fantastic! He’s a living embodiment of what it is to enjoy life to its fullest.

Paul McCartney The Best!
The Hofner growls a lot more on this track than usual...
Like it better when he used the big Yamaha bass

Lennon was freaked out by how much he dug this tune...so much so he decided to record his first record in over 5 years
Paul McCartney, the best! ❤
All credit to the man. He and the boys nail it!
Underrated bass licks.
Voice is good on this. Though have been critical of his voice of late. Good on this tune though. Loads of energy on this one, great version!
It's really easy to dismiss this song as simply simple, but damn it's a fine groove! Luv it. ❤
Simplicity sells millions!
Abe Laboriel is a great drummer!
He really is. He's like 2 rhythm sections in one!
Holy shit, the pocket and groove are deep!
@@peteormond2254 You joking??? Listen to Steve Holley 79 Live Glasgow. No comparison.
@@regaltip8A I'm not making a comparison, I'm saying that the pocket in Abe's playing is deep.
And he's playing right handed but with a kick on the left foot. Unusual.
This song gives me SO MUCH JOY! Thank you Paul!! 🤠👍❤
Paul McCartney is the best. Without a doubt. At 71 he's still got it. If you people are making fun of this you should be ashamed
Such a legend

At about the 2:30 point the guitar sounds like it is inserting the James Bond theme. Pretty good addition.
It's the Peter Gun Theme.
Genio

Yeah, now people have a reverence for Paul. And his crowds screw older and more family friendly. So all those play a part.
*Skew* older…and probably screw older. So they don't tend to let loose like in the 60s and 70s.
