$50 Electric Scooter, Can I get it Running Again ?

- Today we’re going to try and fix a Hover 1 Alpha Pro electric scooter. I won this at an online auction for $50 selling as is. The listing claimed that it wouldn’t turn on but I knew we could get it working ! Come along with me as I work to fix this E scooter and make it as good as new! My hover-1 journey model doesn't have any screws on the deck or bottom of the deck. But, I see a rubber sheet glued on the deck. Should I pull out the rubber sheet to get access to internal controller & battery ?
I belive there should be small Allen screws on the bottom of the scooter on the edge of the rectangular battery compartment.
@@MeedersPEVS looks like latest journey deck has been modified. I found the screws under the grip mat. Grip mat is glued on top of the deck. Also, new models have regenerative breaking, which I dont like.

That’s strange I’m not sure what that could be from. Have you tried doing a factory reset on your scooter? If you haven’t here are the steps.
Turn off the scooter and unplug it from the charger.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
While still holding the power button, plug in the charger and continue to hold the button for another 10 seconds.
Release the power button and turn on the scooter. The reset is now complete.

how did you get the battery to start charging again?
I just unplugged and plugged in the charger till it was flashing red and green like I showed in the video. When it’s doing that it’s actually trickle charging and eventually it turned red and started charging up as normal.
It looks like all hover scooter have default electronic/regenerative breaking. Do you know if it can be disabled. My problem is, when I touch brake lever immediately I see a huge resistance from motor (I am sure my disc brakes are not engaging at this point), which feels like uncontrollable brake. So I want to get away/disable from this electronic/regenerative brake on my scooter. Any idea how can I achieve this.
Not sure exactly how that scooter is set up but there should be two separate cables coming off of the brake lever. One should be the actual metal cable inside a plastic sleeve that pulls your brake pads closed. The other should be a electrical wire which is for the switch that tells if you’re hitting the brakes or not. You should be able to unplug this wire either right by the brake handle or the the connector may be inside the stem of the scooter.
That should make it so the scooter can’t tell if you’re hitting the brakes or not so you should still be able to the regular brakes just fine it just won’t engage regen.
@MeedersPEVS this disabled regenerative breaking from motor, but I got some side affect with this method, when scooter is in cruise mode, by pressing break we expect it will get away from cruise mode, now it's not getting out of cruise mode. So my only way to get away from cruise mode is to press the throttle thumb button again. Also, rare breaking lights are not working, when you press the breaker lever.
@@avvarutheja yeah that would be expected since the controller now no longer has a way to tell if you’re on the brakes or not. This probably means your controller is going bad somewhere in its regen braking circuit. I would guess if you got a new controller you’d be able to hook the brakes back up and have everything good
