    This method replenish the air chamber everytime anyone uses the shower. This will never wear out fella. 😀😀😀😀😀

    THis method works way better than the commercial units as they need to be replaced every few years because they wear out. PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE AND THE PLUMBER GETS TO VISIT FOR 150 AN HOUR OR MORE !!!!!

    This is important and i remember on a commercial job I did, that was the requirement to put it on all the fixtures , vanities as well. But most places you go nobody thinks or cares do do that. Thanks for this great tutorial, it was well presented!

    If you make your own its good to put a “c” at the base of the air chamber and to always have them in a vertical position. If purchased at a store called water hammer arrestors, they actually have a piston/ valve seal at the bottom and are pressurized at the factory. This prevents the trapped air from escaping. Which if no “c” is put at the bottom of home made arrestors like in the video, will eventually fill up with water possibly all the way if not installed straight up and down from cavitation effects created by the water hammer, like a swimming pool splashing the water out when a fat guy jumps in.. the water will splash upwards above the air creating a pocket that takes the air down the pipe... need those though, will save fixtures and appliances from premature failure, along with your water heater..

      Comments are also correct about the air pockets finding the path of resistance also but air will also only travel to the highest point in the system unless forced out by a water seal. Like if you have had the main shut off for repairs and are trying to get the air out of the system, if a faucet even at the highest point, is only opened at a low level, the trapped air will not fully evacuate until full pressure. Unless you have the open style home made arrestors. The bubbles will accumulate back in those pipes and hold it. On top of that when water hammer occurs, whether with arresters or not, the gasses in the water will be released from the compression (water is not compressable but the gasses inside it are which release and form into bubbles).
      Question, can boobies get air inside them when lactating? Like if daddy blew into em? If so, can a titty fart? Seems mildly disturbing. Imagine a woman reaching for something and her breast toots a little.. wouldnt it tickle? I know tgeres a littke flapper valve in there to stop milk from just leaking all the time but it leaks anyways when lactating just from pressures of clothing.. heard of a guy dying one time when his boss messed with him and blew dude with an air hose on dudes ass. Pushed air up there and ruptured his guts.. died instantly.. but that was 200psi, also never heard of a jimmy getting inflated either, unnaturally with air, not the normal way from boobies n stuff..

      What do you mean by a "c"?

    How do you keep air in that? I always thought the idea was to remove air from water lines; wouldn't this just fill up with water?

    • @iamBenRod
      @iamBenRod 6 років тому +3

      Meet Kevin You never fill it with water, lol. Only the mechanical moving piston type hammer arrestors work. The type in the video quickly fill with water after a few on off cycles.

      Some air is always present in water, it will naturally travel upwards and accumulate in the pipe. Also, you turn the water off to install piping, right? So after installation your pipes will be full of air. Once the water flows, it will take the path of least resistance. A dead end full of air with no where to go will act like a spring.

      Ben Rodriguez I’ve heard the air dissolves into the water, and is eventually used up. Is that right?

    • @ravenspe
      @ravenspe 5 років тому

      @@tom2659 I've heard that before as well but I'm not convinced this would occur with normal use. However, this is probably true if you open and close a valve quickly and repeatedly. The vigorous agitation will not give the air enough time to separate. Thankfully, this is easily rectified by turning off your main water line and turning on the valve. This will quickly reintroduce air into the line. I've never had to do this.

      probably when the water is run through the fixture spout your using a portion of it escapes?

      It's not code because the air in the pipe will slowly but surely desolve in the water over time making this actually a point of failure.
      If you did this yourself though and put it on a 4 way with the other 3sides being ball shut offs with to being for flow and the third for bleed you could keep it working.
      Real arrestors have an air bladder to prevent the air from desolving.
      Ill understand if you find this far fetched but in the aquarium hobby people use bottles in tanks filled with co2 for this same purpose and over the course of a month the bottle will empty feeding co2 to underwater plants.

    This is the old school way it was done in the past. Air eventually is removed from the "hammer arrestor", being absorbed into water over time, decreasing its efficacy. Also, bacteria can form in the "dead water" of this style of arrestor. The new style (with a piston) keeps water and air separate preventing bacterial growth. Watch some other videos that feature the newer style hammer arrestors now required by code.
