      Already out. Motor made over 500hp with cam change. Then Wolfe did some mild head work, different intake with cam and made 600hp. Now he has a full built version that mades 789hp N/A but it's built to have an 3.0 whipple added to it that's going into his foxbody. That should bring it to about 1550-1650hp
      He believes the motor can make 900 with the factory heads. Obviously fully cnc ported, more compression, better rods etc. The point is what the heads can do after a full cnc port and that seems to be very impressive. Check out Wolfe racing. There's video of it on the dyno.

I actually got excited when said that and looked it up. If the 7.3 was the standard engine in 2021 I would have been pretty excited. I think it should be since the new 6.6L is standard in GM HD trucks. I'm sure it will be difficult to find a 7.3 Super Duty with a massive discount on it the way a 6.2L could be. A 7.3L swap into a 2015+ aluminum F150 RCSB 2wd would be awesome depending on how much a 7.3 crate engine costs and how cheap I could get a used V6 6R80e truck like that and get it all working and running. Ford has a huge leg up on GM in that respect since the new 6.6L isn't a crate engine yet.

    @pdegnan4852 3 роки тому +6

    I've been researching this motor for it's original application in the Ford Super Duty. At least for the commercial truck market, this thing is being marketed as a "Back to Basics" V8 to compete with GM (L8T) and Dodge (6.4L Hemi) Hemi in their respective commercial offerings. As others have said, it's also the "Spec Sheet Replacement" for the last Mod Motor still being made new, the 6.8L V10. Said V10 has only been available in the F450 and upwards for a few model years now, so it's cool to see this 7.3L gasser on the order guide as an option for the F250 and upwards.
    I had never considered this thing in an application for the older Malaise-era barges (the Lincolns the host mentioned), or the first wave of the smog-controlled muscle cars of the 1970's, but for somebody that wants a "Pure Blue Oval" (i.e. no LS swap), this makes sense.
    In looking, GM offers an L8T and Mopar a 6.4L in crate engine packages, so I suppose it's only natural that Ford would do this too in order to stay competitive with the market.
    We're in the golden era of Internal Combustion boys and girls, let's enjoy the roar of those V8's at redline while we still can!

    I'm someone who wants to put the 6.2l v8 in my 02 F150 instead of the 5.4l 2v v8 for a Street Legal Prerunner application. Then get a supercharger kit added to the 6.2l. Still an idea but would this engine be a better option? I'm aiming for reliability over power. Both engines (6.2 & 7.3) essentially double the output power compared to the 5.4l 2v let alone adding a supercharger to the 6.2l.

    • @yaboykris2118
      @yaboykris2118 Рік тому +1

      The 6.2 is one of my favorite Ford engines. The biggest problem is the aftermarket just never picked up on it so aftermarket is few and far between and whatever stuff is available for it it is super expensive. Ford should of made a DOHC version of the 6.2. Since the 6.2 has been around since like 2010 I think, I bet it’s way easier and cheaper to buy than a 7.3. And with the money you saved you could get a super charger for it and make double the power of a 7.3. But, the 7.3 engine size is slightly smaller since it has the cam in the block.

    Fords version of an ls. Weighs as much as a big block chevy, makes less power per cubic inch, still stuck using fords garbage transmissions unless you pay crazy money for a quick time bellhousing

      Wrong. The 7.3 takes design elements with the FE and 385 series v8's. this engine has made 780hp naturally aspirated. and it does NOT weigh as much as a big block chevy, who told you that? What's wrong with ford transmissions? the 6r80 and 10r80 are proven units.

      Im saying for a price standpoint. Both of those transmissions are expensive. Pluse the 780 hp na motor you talk about is a high compression drag engine not a street pump gas engine. My 598 big block chevy is 35lbs heavier than that 7.3 Godzilla.

      @@riogrande163 if the fe motors were so great why did they get replaced by the windsor, cleveland, and 460? And why do the Australians build clevevor engines?

    Would be a great replacement for an 04-10 Ford f150 with a 5.4 3v. I'm wondering how it hard it would be to bolt on up with the control pack

    I'm building a cobra replica and the last one I put a 460 in and my intention was to do the same in this one. My parts and labor are approaching 10 grand I should say 12 Grand. Do you think I could get this motor to work? I know the heads are different so I'm concerned about height and I don't know what controls the spark and fuel. Can you help sure is a good price at 7 Grand

    The 6.2 is still going. There are replacing the 6.8 V10 which survived for 24 years (they said Triton was crap). These are only going to get better.

    There is a lot of nice 6.4L diesels out there that would be great candidates for a 7.3 Godzilla swap or no ?

    You said there are companies committed to producing after market parts... just curious what are they? Im building a 1969 mach 1 that this would be perfect for... I just want a little more and after watching Brian wolfs vid of them hitting 790 na he on a dyno... the 600 to 650 mark im shooting for is very reallistic.

    ford has been running key-less crankshaft for some time now. the timing gear on the crank has no key either. to lock everything up ford uses a double-sided diamond-coated washer, that when the crank bolt is torqued down its design to keep the pully/balancer/crank-trigger-wheel and timing gear locked up.
    so don't loosen that bolt unless you have to, also you may want to invest in the special ford tool that locks the motor in TDC for #1, well worth it if you're going to be modding this engine.
    this ford special tool is most likely a bolt that's exactly 40mm long as in the case in some of their engines, this bolt screws into the side of the block and protrudes into the crankcase, the crank is spun gently until the cranks counterweight buts up against this bolt, this will hold the crank so #1 is at TDC allowing you to set timing and torque all the bolts down, have fun

      Really, no key way? So to save a couple bucks they risk the timing shifting and destroying the whole engine?

    It would be cool if a distributor, carburetor and 4 barrel intake will be made for those of us that would want to go old school.

    What vehicle do you think the Godzilla would be best in? ... Basically any Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury.
