A walk down memory lane as a kid. Daimos and Voltes V were famous here in Manila. If I have a time machine, I will go back to the 70s and 80s. Mabuhay!
Still are famous in Philippines
I remember the schedules: Mechander/Mekanda (Monday-GMA); Daimos and Balatack (Tuesday-GMA/RPN); Mazinger Z and Jeeg (Wednesday-GMA/RPN); Grendaizer (Thursday-GMA) and my favorite Voltes V (Friday-GMA). Star Rangers and JAK-Q were both on Saturdays but they aren't robots but still Japanese made. Memories of my childhood.

We had Force Five (circa 1980) that had Danguard Ace Tuesday, Grendizer Thursday and (my favorite) Gaiking Friday.
With out these show's u don't have the show's that you have today hand's down! I'm old school 70s kid and saw these shows as kid obviously! I'm 55 now! Man those awesome time's 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Daimos 1978, wow! Been trying to remember the name of this anime for ever. I watched it as a kid and could never track it down. I thought it was called Dynamo. It aired on HBO or Showtime but probably HBO. SO EXCITED to find it. I was born in 76, so if it was 78 , this may be my earliest memory i can timestamp. Thanks for the reminder!!!
These are always cool to see again. I used to watch these shows on Showtime in the morning before school. I also would get the Marvel comics Shogun Warriors, my favorite was always Raideen.
Wow. Growing up i was given alot of 2nd hand toys. My favorites were all the robot toys. Only one i knew for certain was Tranzor Z as it was renamed in the US. I had almost all of them that were shown in this video. Thank you for giving names to my childhood friends.

These are my obsession since I was kid. As of now I still keep many stickers about this robot anime as collection.

I am 46 years old now but Tosho Daimos was my fave during my kiddy day 😊 am still amaze with the intro song till this day 👍

Grendizer was a legend
As a kid I lumped all of these together as "Shogun Warriors", even with the Godaikin stuff, Godzilla and Rodan. I guess because of the toys. They all existed in the same universe to me.
Great mazinger is missing.
its funny when we were kids we used to call getter robot getarobot😅 anyways most of these tv animes got very famous amongst us kids in the 80s and 90s. But voltes5 and daimos were the biggest ones in terms of popularity. They even aired these two about 2 times in the 80s and i think same in the 90s. And now its 2023, they made a real action version of voltes5 on tv that feature cgi technology.

I remember these guys through the Shogun Warriors toy line.
Only instead of Steel Jeeg and Groizer, they had Robot 17 and Leopardon (from the Japanese Spider-Man TV show).
Go Nagai creations are still produced up till now. Like Mazinger Z and Getter Robo. I think Gaiking and Steel Jeeg has updated versions also, like produced in the early or mid 2000's.

My most favorite robots anime in 70 is voltes 5
Growing up, I had a 12" figure of Raideen where the legs could fold to simulate flight and where you could shoot a small projectile from his belly, I also had a 6 or 8" figure of Mazinger Z.
Getto Robo series remake in the late 90s was a nice tribute to the shogun warrior legacy.
What about Balatak, Striker Force and Mekanda? I saw most of these shows back in the Philippines in 1978-79 Until Marcos banned them.Grendizer was a sequel to Mazinger Z. Getter Robot also had a sequel show with two of the original pilots and ships and robots were upgraded.

I wish some of the other giant robot shows came to the US, here in Mass we got force five grandizer, gaiking, getter robo, and danguard ace, voltron came later then of course everthing was overshadowed by the transformers

Where are UFO Grendizer, Mekanda Robot, Gigantor, Ballatak, etc? Gigantor is the father of them all!
And Godzilla was one of the Shogun Warriors! But was usually who they were fighting against!
I grew up watching them in Spanish especially Mazinger Z.

Am I crazy or didn't they call Mazinger Z. Tranzor Z in the 80s
I recognize all the robots except for Groizer X. Never saw it in any imported Japanese mags and toys at the time. Except for Raideen, none of the shows were ever broadcast in the states.
They were shown a few years later on Showtime, in the mornings. I used to watch all these shows on there before I went to school.
May remember anime robot is a voltes Five and diamos and commbattler V may allmost show in kid

Never heard of Steel Jeeg before but immediately saw that his design was used for Baron Karza of the Micronauts
