Would you like to live in a share house in Japan? Let us know!
Yes of course!!!!!
I would live anywhere in Japan
NOPE.
I'd love to but there is 0% chance I could get a job in Japan 🤣
Na. Im 44. Past that.
Sharehouses are a great place to make friends and start your life in Japan! I remember living in one and it had a good mix of both students and working adults(both foreigners & Japanese). At night, we ALL partayyyyy in the house I loved it! 🥳🪩
Sounds comfy~
You know what? This is such a great and **affordable** living option if you’re trying to save money, or need an affordable housing option. It’s actually nice too and not some slummy place that would be depressing to live in. Kudos to Japan for offering these kinds of affordable yet nice and decent living options. I only wish something like this was available where I live (US) especially with the economic situation, inflation and recession. Thanks for sharing this!
I lived in co-op housing in the USA as a foreign student and it included shared duties towards the communal needs of the co-op. One semester I did kitchen/cooking duties and another semester I worked on the maintenance crew. It was fun!
I would love to live in a sharehouse like this. This looks AMAZING and so COMFY. Being surrounded with folks (and I can practice my Japanese) and be near the station? Heck yes.
I love the trust that NO ONE is going to steal your food!
I love listening to Jordan´s voice. He has such a nice accent 😊
Bless~! Thank youuuuu❤
Until he was surprised, then he hit the hard R like an American, lol.
This is crazy. College/Uni undergrads here live in "sharehouses" that aren't even 1/10th of the size of this one. If you're lucky, you'll end up maxing out at 10 people. This looks heavenly in comparison and I'm sure if anybody here saw it they'd gladly kill for it. Really cool place, I didn't even know accommodation for part-time earning young adults could be this good. The living spaces here are called a "mass" but they're usually just a mess.
While it is usually pretty good, it always depends on the people staying there. During my stay at a share house, a uni class came from the netherlands and they wasted the place. 😅 Not properly cleaning up led to a bad smell. Luckily there was a second kitchen area and they drove everyone there 😂
It is nice that gas and other things are included. Also three minutes from station souded nice. Kitchen and other spaces looked good.
This is the coolest share house video I've seen so far. Wish we had these in the US.
This place had me at free beer and wine. This place looks so nice especially if you do online and school work. ❤
Jordan doing bear yoga is the content I didn't know I needed
Those share houses look so chill
Sarah made me start singing Breadfan by Budgie when she said she’s a huge “bread fan.” Gotta get that 🍞!
I live like 10 min away! This was surreal. Used to work in Tama Plaza too lol
Interesting way to live. Also, Sarah's eyes are beautiful.
Yehey TC Homes is back! ❤️
Very nice.
Wished I had known about Share Design back when I lived in Tokyo.
Might've done wonders on my mental health.
Thanks for the share, you cool wholesome peoples :)
Thats like 450€ a month! Crazy good deal if only takes you 20m to literally the centre of Tokyo. Besides the space is gorgeous and so well thought.
Im from Portugal and 450€ a month doesnt even pay a single room in Lisbon lol
Yessss, we need more videos like this!!!
I’m way too much of an introvert to live in a share house, I’d be trying to avoid people in the living room and kitchen lol but it looks really nice! Love that garden sitting area. $600 for all that is not bad at all.
I live in a share house currently and honestly about half or more are introverts in our community of houses (bout 50 people). But we have lots of welcoming parties, birthday parties and going away parties that are totally optional but also a great way to get out of your shell, then retreat to your room if you want. Pretty sure it’s similar in most places.
This is so cool! Kento seems like an amazing guy who I'd love to be friends with, and practise my Japanese with. :) Also individual bathrooms - so nice! To draw a parallel, it seems kind of like a retirement village for young people (not a negative comment btw) and I love the shared spaces and natural light. Options to socialise casually are so important in a place like Tokyo.
Looks like an interesting place to stay as a newcomer, and I loved that they went the high quality route.
This was pretty interesting! I wouldn't mind this kind of living arrangement honestly, even as an introvert. You still get privacy when you want it (the private bathrooms are definitely a plus!), but you can still have people to hang out with when you want to.
Some of the manga on Kento's wall looked like it was in English, so I wonder if he's using manga to study English?? I know bilingual mangas exist in Japan for that very purpose.
Also I haven't watched Spy x Family yet but I agree that Anya is very cute.
What a fun video. Always nice to see these shared houses. I feel like in Japan it’s such a different experience that I wished we had here.
This place looks great! Your host for the video has cool style
I like TC homes ^_^ Price and location is so good 👌
This seems affordable. Any affordable housing nowadays is good imo
Thanks for the fun and entertaining video as always!
Yes do more of these!
Looks great! Thanks for sharing!
Love this
I would love to see more of this kind of video🎉
omggg im doing an exchange year next year and was looking for outside dorm options! thank you for this!
Yess keep em coming. I really enjoyed it 😊.
I really think if he learned to cook simple things he would save a lot of money long term. It's a beautiful way to live when you are young and just starting out. His room is nice and his v vintage clothes are cool! 💝👍💝
In other countries for sure. In Japan, maybe. Ready made food is very cheap comparatively and great quality.
love when these two show me cool stuff and places
Looks like fun to me 😊
This was a super awesome shared house! I would definitely make use of that huge kitchen if I lived here!😂
As a musician, I’d love that music room to practice 🥺☺️☺️
Haha - I was just looking at maybe moving there :D Thanks for the video guys!
9:00 - Jordan "Mine's bigger"
Wow this looks and sounds pretty amazing. The goods, the price and also "foreigners" living there (i've heard there are still some landlords who refuse to rent to "foreigners").
This may be a good starting point if you freshly move to japan (besides all the other hurdles to pass), also because of the easier contact to locals, who live there too and can help you in some things, different from other countries
Such a cool video! I love seeing real housing videos. That share-house is beautiful 🤩 Thank you for sharing your home Kento-san!
Also, those bears were adorable. 🧸❤
Question, do share houses do short term rentals for people who are looking to travel for an extended period of time? Like on a month by month basis? (We have that here in North Carolina, but 1 month rent is hundreds more per month than if you sign a 12-15month lease.)
Would love this sort of lifestyle. How easily can foreigners live in houses like this?
I love my solitude too much...it's a blessing to me.
60K isn’t so bad for a month rent nice!
Oh this is lovely! I hadn't realised they were a thing. What a great way to get someone situated in a new city and country... is there the whole deal with fees and security deposits that can make it hard for a foreign person to rent an apartment?
I really wish the concept of share houses expanded to couples and small families. I'd still love to have this sort of environment while being able to enjoy my family, too.
Sarah always brightens the day!
Sarah’s always got positive/ fun attitude!
Maaan I hope I can make it to japan. It sounds like the perfect place for me personally
60,000 yen equals 372 British pounds. For all the facilities that is a good bargain. I live in a shared farm house, where I am the head tenant. My home is in SW Scotland with open rural views looking out over the Solway estuary and the Cumberland Fells beyond.
2:30 lmao is that sticker what I think it is haha 😄 this guy's funny
Around 400$ us a month whaaaa if this was an option here I'd totally ditch my 1800$ rent which doesn't include wifi elec etc. Japan is amazing.
I'd like a sharehouse like this but my GF wouldn't want that ... talked to her a few times about getting a cheap share house room if we manage to move to Japan but she absolutely doesn't want to and requires a flat with at least 50m² area, better bigger ...
for me a share house with a small ~10m² private room would be sufficient at least for a few years.
Nice season 2
Kento is cute
I always wondered what brand toaster that was!! I couldn’t do a share house but it’s actually a lot nicer than I was expecting
Is it possible to rent a room in a house like this as a tourist for a month or two only? Or do they require more permanent stay visas?
The share house looks awesome, and the price is really good compared to what I'm used to. The only concerns for me are 1) the lack of personal space - one little cubby is not really enough pantry space, and some of us still like to use desktop computers with large/multiple monitors; and 2) I don't know if the portable ovens are enough for my purposes (although just having access to an oven in Japan seems like a big win) - anyone know the interior dimensions? I'd probably have to change up my cooking repertoire and downsize my lifestyle, which is very difficult when one plays furniture-sized musical instruments. If someone builds a share house for artists and musicians with an arts & crafts studio and a band rehearsal space, I'd be all over it.
Damn Kento look like cute doll
share houses are the future, especially ones of this quality.
"I'm not interested at all" lol
Watching shoes on a yoga mat was so stressful for me!
I wouldn't mind a Japanese share house - especially one like this! Maybe for a month or when I've just moved or something.
I’m thinking about going to Japanese language school next year and living in a share house, but I will be 40 next year. I don’t know if living with a bunch of other people would be ideal.
damn, it's cheaper than living in Kazakhstan right now
We've seen hints of it in the past, but it's becoming crystal clear that Jordan/Sarah are quite different in personality/taste. I get the sense that outside of TC, they probably wouldn't be friends. 😆 That said, they'll always have the kissaten video to fondly look back on. 😉
Sarah ist einfach die Beste :D Nice topic guys!
TC you need a college drop out that just like researching things! I volunteer as tribute to live in a share house!
I really like that accent wall in the livingroom, but the TV kind of ruined it 😅
Jordons facial expressions are fucking hilarious.
There's one kitchen between 54 people? 🙃
During uni, I lived with 1 full kitchen between 136 people, with kitchenettes (fridge, toaster, jug) between 36. It's completely doable if you're organized and schedule it, plus a lot of people eat out a lot instead anyway!
I think Jordan is an animated character.
The way Jordan said 'water' when talking about the toaster really caught me off gaurd. It's great each room gets it's own bathroom and toilet. Without knowing how much someone can earn part time in that area, it's hard to gauge the value of 60000 yen. I can't tell if it's the mic'ing but that music room doesn't seem sound proof enough. It seems fine with so few people around, but I think it would be really hard to move around with more than 50 people.
UK housing needs some serious facelift compared to other nations.
Most of the houses are quite rundown and definitely needs to be modernize for today's living standard.
Does anybody know a website to find listings for these kind of share houses?
The intro reminded me of Blacked for some reason.
That price is ridiculous. I'm sure this will stay fully rented out for a loong time.
Is this a common thing in Japan? This is like American dorms in uni, but not a thing at least here in Southern California.
Jordan reminds me of a poorly animated NPC in a video game.
hello to Yoshua from Japan. i am yehoshua from america. your name is not Hebrew but mine is. that is the only difference.
when I was your age I also rode a motorcycle everywhere. at the time I was studying engineering and working as a welder.
good luck to you Joshua
Is it all ages?
damn, the share house I live in just has crackheads and divorced people, and nothing is clean
who owns the share-house? Does Kento know the owner? Pretty decent price for living there though
This is awful. Live with another 50 people!? No thanks! This is just designed to look cool but the reality is it’s an excuse to cramp more people into even smaller living spaces. Places like this are built for business, not for people
Even with six burners on the stove that's still sharing with 54 people.
All of the places look lovely when it's empty but it'll never be like that.
I think a share house can be good if you want to make friends or if you want access to amenities and equipment without having to buy them yourself but I’ve heard share houses can be quite loud and your experience can depend on who is staying there. If everyone is nice and gets a long you can have a good time but if you don’t get a long then it can be quite annoying. Also, people tend to think share houses are a budget option but often you can rent a regular studio apartment in the area for about the same price.
Damn, that's less than $500usd a month
The cost of living in a sharehouse in Japan is not that bad. Is there a laundry area or do you need to visit a laundromat ? Aside from the challenges of making the best use of space, I'm sure it's possible to work things out.
they mentioned a laundry room with many washing machines in the interview at Kenos room
11:10 jordan doing the william tell overture (horse riding/racing song) ua-cam.com/video/TZqpRTsYjDs/v-deo.html
I am confused, what is the evil looking condom trying to tell me? xDD
This share house seems pretty nice and I like the outside space but I’m not a big fan of the kitchen. There’s good appliances but it doesn’t feel like a nice place to cook. There’s not much counter space and it’s dark and has a cold feeling because it’s not decorated. Other people might be fine with it but that’s just my personal opinion and would be a deal breaker for this place. I would never feel motivated to cook in that kitchen.
That is one bougie ass share house lol
Toxic positivity
Those wouldn’t float in America. People are too.. disrespectful
was this a crappy infomercial?
