First of all the production of this video was really great. Cool panning shots with the drone also. Man, I just love seeing your place growing into a wonderful homestead. The girls are so cute. We definitely want goats someday. Peace!
Thanks Jay! That new drone is really nice. I think it might be the same one you have. Mavic Mini? We also invested in a DJI Osmo gimbal, which definitely makes a HUGE difference in recording while moving. As well as some neat timelapse features that we're looking forward to playing with. Happy New Year to you and Gin buddy!
@@WildersteadOh cool! I was wondering if you got a different drone. I have the Mavic Mini also. I have an Osmo Mobile 3 but I don't use it enough. Definitely makes for smooth video. I did some panning time lapse on one of the videos where I was chopping wood. Cool feature. Hope all is well at the Wilderstead. 👍
Great peek at the goats, they look like a lot of fun! Stay warm out there
It is unseasonably warm here right now. Happy new year buddy!
Wow! Your homestead is beautiful! Great video!!
Thanks Leonidas!
Awesome tribe. The barn looks fantastic!
Thanks Jim! Man it was a lot of work, but we are very happy with it!
Great video! Goats are so darn cute!!!
Little stinkers! Thanks Sean!
Happy New Year! Another great video.
Happy new year! Thanks Bushmoose!
Cute AF!!! Great movie folks, very enjoyable:))
Haha! Thanks buddy. Happy New Year!
Like the drone work in this one! Either that, or nice slider and boom work..HA! Wow, the wilderstead has grown so much. Beans has an amazing beard! I always have this fear that a goat is going to buck me from behind, when I least expect it. Nice, you didn't have to go to far to pick up the goats! Didn't make it to the Island this summer...kind of sad... Way to rock out the goat tribe! Production is great in this one...really enjoyed the story too. Happy New Year!
New addition to the camera crew - meet Mavic! LOL! Thanks man, and happy new year!
@@Wilderstead nice! It does a great job!
Great to see the family . Good video
Thanks 👍
Your barn turned out great! You don’t have much snow!
Thanks! We still have to get the last barn build video up. Hopefully soon. It has been a really weird year here for snow - or lack there of. We only put the plow on about a week ago 😲
Cheers and happy new year!
@@Wilderstead Happy New Year guys 🍻
We have 2-3’ of snow it’s been keeping us busy
Thank you this helped a lot! 🐐🐐🐐
Love your tribe 💛
Thank you!! They're a handful LOL!
They are so cute! [I understand food and all that, don't find your food cute but I had meat rabbits I still enjoyed how cute they were.]
Spent a summer on St. Joe's Island and I loved it driving to work in the morning was dangerous with all the deer running loose. lol you guys are not too far from the Soo. My buddy had goats but they were always climbing on top of his car not great to park at his place.
GOATS!!! Hahaha! 🐐 🐐
Yeah, we are a bit north of Soo. Batchawana area.
😎👍
That's a good idea, Nigerian does and pygmy buck!
Have you thought about adding electric fencing?
Just found this video and I love your herd! On the issue of Beans treating Orca like a mate, he's not. He's establishing his dominance over a subordinate male; it's normal just like fighting is normal with goats, nothing needs to be corrected. You can see this behavior in does and goat kids as well.
Gosh Luna is very vocal…
How are the goats in the snow? I live in the suburbs just out of NYC. I’m looking to get my first 2 Nigerian dwarf goats soon. But all I keep reading is how they don’t like to be wet. They don’t like their hooves wet ect. I don’t have room for a barn
They’re not fond of the snow. They’ll go out sometimes but only for a short period of time.
I want goats for meat and milk but have heard that they can be difficult. Any suggestions?
This is our first go with goats. The most difficult thing so far has been them escaping their pens. For the most part, we have that under control now (knock on wood!). We'll be sharing what we learn as we go, though. Sorry we can't be of better help just yet!
@@Wilderstead no worries. That's what I've heard though. And they can be destructive. But hoping that yours will keep each other company and out of trouble.
They can definitely be destructive. When we started our goat barn build and our fenced in areas, we did a lot of research into ‘goat proofing’. I think any livestock comes with unique challenges, so it’s just a matter of doing a ton of research and learning and changing things as needed from experience. We’ll see how things go over the next year.
So sweet! What a fun little herd. Thanks for sharing their stories!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I want a baby goat to cuddle. Where to get in Quebec?
So if you mix a pygmy with a ND their purpose would be meat and not dual? Really curious since my wife likes both 🤗
They would still potentially be dual purpose. Pygmy are hard to milk because of their shorter legs, but not impossible. Selecting offspring for each purpose would be part of the breeding program. Hope that helps!
Did you get them from Ashley Alloway?
Yup!
@@Wilderstead you have good genetics than. You'll get some good milk!
I like idea of having friend for goat 🤣 but would be more better if you give iphone
Oh dear get Orca some good scratching post😂
So if you lock two males together (one fixed, one not) you will have prison sex? 🤣
Beans is a GG (Gay Goat).
I dont believe that you won't be purchasing anymore goats.
The goats are gone 😂
@@Wilderstead After I posted that I realized that it was 3 years ago.
Did you know Nigerian and Pigmy goats can breed year round? Most other breeds only go into heat a couple times per year. Those females look very young, would be better to let them get a bit older before breeding them. But good luck trying to keep the buck away from them. Goats are HUGE escape artists! Hence why I finally got rid of my nigerian bucks...just a constant population explosion. Thankfully Nigerians aren't as athletic as Alpines...my goodness the two new alpines here can escape anything and are climbing monsters. They get in even more trouble than my Nigerians...ugh.
Yes, somehow that part didn’t make it into the final video. There are many times we will have to keep Beans away from the girls and their young. We are waiting to breed them until they are around a year old, and have been, so far, successfully keeping them separate.
Not good idea to put bean w other male
Well, they aren't supposed to live with the females and they're also not supposed to live alone, so dominance play with the wether is the only real option left.
Thank you this helped a lot! 🐐🐐🐐
Happy New Year! Loved the video and especially love the goats. Such personalities!
Thank you! You too! Hours of fun with those little stinkers!
So fun to see how they've grown! Silly, silly, goats ;)
Just endless entertainment with them LOL! Happy New Year, Cathy!
Can these two varieties be crossed breed
Bucketheads ! best laugh I had for days... thanks for that ! All the best to you all this year !
Happy new year! The goats are a handful, but always good for a laugh. Cheers Bubba!
They mock us with their physical ability... from birth !
@@TheCanadianBubba 😂 very true!!
