I did not expect this !!!!! I sang acapella in high school and college and we are trained to hear certain tones , harmonies , timing - this presentation has it all - Just beautiful - love it! 🌷
Lo, how a Rose e're blooming from tender stem hath sprung! Of Jesse's lineage coming, as saints of old have sung. Proclaimed by angels bright How Christ the Lord of glory was born on earth this night. Isaiah 'twas foretold it, the Rose I have in mind; With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind. To show God's love aright, she bore to us a Savior, When half spent was the night. O Savior, Child of Mary, who felt our human woe. O Savior, King of glory, who does our weakness know; Bring us at length we pray, to the bright courts of Heaven, And to the endless day!
This is a German carol dating back to the 1400's. The ORIGINAL lyrics are in German. "Aus Gottes ew'gem Rat, hat sie ein Kind geboren und blieb ein reine Magd." or: "Welches uns selig macht." There have been numerous English versions or translations, including the beloved 1894 Theodore Baker version to which you refer. "She bore to us a Savior" seems more in harmony with the King James Version of the Birth of Jesus, according to the Gospel of Luke: "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to ALL PEOPLE." Merry Christmas to all.

I want to sing this hymn in Heaven ♥️
I was one of the bass singers on that recording.
Isn't Scott Wyatt awesome? He's an outstanding minister also
A beautiful recording! Here I am watching this in July 🙂
Where are you? Can we see you in the video? Blessed Advent from Fountain Valley, California!
My Dad's favorite!
Beautiful rendition of a timeless and meditative work. Thanks.
Please add the lyrics subtitles so we can sing along. Thanks for the beautiful singing.....
So beautiful!
GOD BLESS ALL FROM SÃO PAULO BRASIL.
I love it
Yep, butcher a very classic song in order to be PC. The original lyrics are "she bore to men a savior " not "she bore to US a savior "
Pretty sure whoever decided to change the lyrics was a liberal bitch who doesn't even believe in God.
