Great video, thanks for sharing your beautiful scenery! Crazy you've never seen a bear! I camp all of the time, and I've been face to face with two bears, but I am just now getting ready to backpack for the first time. Your video is inspiring, thanks! Also, great music 👏👏
Yes I am so surprised I have never seen a bear! Maybe I am too loud, singing too much 😅 good luck on your backpacking adventures. Thank you for watching.
@@lexirae_art i have backpacked emigrant several times, never seen a bear either. i spoke to the ladies at kennedy meadows pack station and they said bears at emigrant are rarer and therefore shy-ier and i hve also stayed at baker and deadman campgrounds and the vibe and rules seem very relaxed as compared to yosemite or tahoe
I have been to just about every lake back in that wilderness. Normally go for a week to two weeks at a time. Been back there probably over 20 different times last 30 years. Awesome area.
@@lexirae_art Yes. Loaded pretty heavy at the start. Unfortunately I think my last trip was two years ago. Hit 15 different lakes that trip. I have developed health issues now so backpacking probably isnt in my future.
What a wonderful way to spend a couple of nights! Gorgeous area and forests! It was great to see the different light and times of day … feels so tranquil and quiet! 👏👏
damn u really braved that weather like a G. i was at a high elevation lake at desolation wilderness last week , similiar weather to yours. not a soul around , rained and hailed all night, the hailstones sounded so loud and aggressive i thought it wud tear up my tent and soak me in! it was terrifying . also at twilight hour , it was hauntingly beautiful with the low hanging fog and spooky wind howls.
When you hiked all the way out there and have the gear, you might as well deal with it right?! Try and find the positive in it. Plus yes, the eeriness is enjoyable to me. Makes it more memorable!
I've hiked many places but Emigrant is my home stomping ground. It's wonderful when it's sunny, but it is mysterious and magical in the rain and fog as well. As you were walking through there I was recalling some of the trips that I've been on back in that area. One of the spots you camped at was only about 150 yards from one of my favorite spots. Hope you can make it back when the sun is actually shining there. Oh, and all the bears are a few miles south at Yosemite: better scrounging down there.
I definitely will be back for the sunny weather!! Next time I’ll be on the lookout for your favorite spot.. good to know about the bears. I’d like to see one in the wild. But I’m sure there is some great scrounging in Yosemite with everyone leaving their food around!
Bravo.........hey that what homeless do every night.......most people think home when camping.....and the first meal they want at fast food place......what ur choice.....??.........cheers
Years ago, I would backpack in the Emigrant Wilderness (To HuckleBerry Lake from Cherry lake and take side trips to lower and upper Twin Lakes) with my Dad. Nice area but I think Kings Canyon NP, Sequoia NP. John Muir Wilderness and Ansel Adams Wilderness has more impressive scenario although some some parts can be more crowded.
Going camping here with two of my friends this weekend. Any tips for first timers? What’s the road like leading up to the lakes? Do I need a 4wd vehicle? Equipment you strongly recommend we get?
@@cesarpantoja35 I took a 2006 Toyota Corolla so you’ll be fine! I strongly recommend either a bear canister or a system to hang your food as well as bear spray. Weather can change quickly so bring rain protection. First time backpacking in general? Or just to Emigrant?
Noo if I have gotten started earlier the first day I definitely would have gone to Bear instead!!! But I got home from out of town that morning and had to pack and such.
Really enjoyed this. I love the Emigrant Wilderness. Using the Deuce of Spades as a spoon is epic.

Thank-you for the video. I have Emigrant Wilderness on my list of future hikes. It looks amazing, even with the rainy weather.
Amazing video! So pretty. And the downed trees are from Big Foot yo! They do that when they’re molting.
Ohhh!!! Okay that makes sense… next time I’ll be more forgiving lol
Theres 10 long lakes just in the Sierra mountains! 🙂

Loved the video. Thanks for sharing. What tent is that?
Its the Big Agnes Fly Creek 2. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful! And the Emigrant is too!:) I hope your knee recovered. I injured my knee out there in 2009, and it took hella long to heal… but it did:)
@@stevenbrewer8788 glad your knee is better! Mine is. May head up there again this summer for my dirty 30. We shall see !
Headed up there August 13-18! Fishing in the west fork of Cherry creek, possibly all the way to Yellowhammer Lake! Love it up there!:):)
Happy Birthday 🎉 🌲 ⛰️ 30 is a special one:)
I love backpacking EW!! ❤ 👣

I did this same route last summer. Isn’t it so beautiful!? Swear it always rains up there though!!

Do you carry bear spray?
Wondering what you have hanging on your arm strap on the backpack.
