Peaceful Art Vlog| Sketching, Painting & Making Acorn Coffee!
Join along in my part of the cozy fall mountains while I sketch and paint, and make acorn coffee from the abundance of acorns during this season.
To make acorn coffee:
1. Collect ripe acorns in fall
2. Dry the acorns using a dehydrator or low oven settings for about 8-12 hours
3. Crack open the nuts, inspecting for any moldy or wormy ones
4. Leach out the bitter tannins (hot or cold leaching work for acorn coffee, hot leaching is faster)
5. Roast until dark brown and chocolatey (350-375 degrees for 35-60min)
6. Enjoy!!!
Some people pre grind their acorns before leaching, then roast. I decided to try more of a "whole bean" method and grind fresh for each cup, to ensure longer lasting freshness.
I found that the most DELICIOUS way to enjoy the acorn coffee is to brew by method of pour over, then add honey and milk (it tastes like a super nutty hot chocolate). I also have added homemade pecan liqueur, which of course is delicious and cozy.
Happy crafting!!!

3 Nights Solo in the Rainy Wilderness

Spent 3 nights in Emigrant Wilderness. Did a 27.5 mile loop, and it unfortunately rained for the 3 out of 4 days, but was still beautiful. Will be back to see the wilderness in its sunshine-y glory eventually. All music in the video is my own. Off-Roading Usal Road Motorcycle CRASH!
Переглядів 154Рік тому
Did a 30 mile long ride from Shelter Cove, CA to Fort Bragg over Usal Road which is mostly dirt/rocks. Fell on some loose dirt/rock/leaves and got trapped under my bike. When my husband tried lifting it off, the skid plate started digging into my inner shin bone (the strong bone of the two thankfully!). Thought I broke it, only did some nerve and tissue damage though.

You are speaking my same thoughts, feelings & my soul about growing up as a child in the Western North Carolina mountains near Asheville. After Hurricane Helene we have lost much of this, and it is simply good to know, and I choke up saying this and can barely speak, for this old woman to know that there's a young woman from the other side of this continent and country who speaks the exact same thoughts and had the same formation of her own being by walking in the wild woods... so nurturing and natural. Thank you profoundly.
@@iahelcathartesaura3887 thank you so much for watching and relating to this. It’s so sad about the hurricane and I hope your family and loved ones are okay. 🙏❤️
Thank-you for the video. I have Emigrant Wilderness on my list of future hikes. It looks amazing, even with the rainy weather.
A day on earth Every day I see the world I am forever amazed by its unending wonders And all the beauty of everything around me Each blade of grass, every pebbles, shoot and twigs Drops of dew as diamonds in the morning sun The fresh scent of renewed hope in the early breath The promises of life awoken Riches and abundance and rewards near I am so very small - this world so big Though I look and look I cannot see very far But I can see I belong here That I belong to here The new day also brings hurdles and sorrow Streams to cross, treacherous and menacing covers I am just a solitary little mouse trotting along In this immeasurable field I call home And no matter the dangers and the threats However unkind the weather and cold the nights And the friends lost and the dark days I am grateful for this ground I walk on I am the life given to me Like a voice needs a listener And the dream a dreamer This earth comes alive under my tiny little feet I am bound to it as it is to me I am just a solitary little mouse trotting along Small and defenceless, sometimes scared and unsure But trusting and confident in this moment Today, there is nowhere else I would rather be Here and now I belong To this life given to me I am a voice, I am a dream, I am a breath I am just a little mouse

Hey Lexi! Looking great! 🍃🏕️☺️

Beautiful video, the forest fills the heart and soul 🌳💗
Going camping here with two of my friends this weekend. Any tips for first timers? What’s the road like leading up to the lakes? Do I need a 4wd vehicle? Equipment you strongly recommend we get?
@@cesarpantoja35 I took a 2006 Toyota Corolla so you’ll be fine! I strongly recommend either a bear canister or a system to hang your food as well as bear spray. Weather can change quickly so bring rain protection. First time backpacking in general? Or just to Emigrant?
Such a lovely presentation my friend, place looks and feels so enjoyable and storytelling is simply flawless!
Thank you 🙏

Beautiful! And the Emigrant is too!:) I hope your knee recovered. I injured my knee out there in 2009, and it took hella long to heal… but it did:)

I love that you’re a singer/songwriter who also loves to explore:) I love the Emigrant, and am a songwriter too:) Just kinda looks like we are simpatico:) 🙌🏼
Discovered your channel while looking at Emigrant wilderness videos. Nice job on this song. Good interpretation. I tend to pretty much copy Neil Young's version.
I love backpacking EW!! ❤ 👣
I have been to just about every lake back in that wilderness. Normally go for a week to two weeks at a time. Been back there probably over 20 different times last 30 years. Awesome area.
wow 2 weeks? Amazing!! Do you carry all your food at once?
@@lexirae_art Yes. Loaded pretty heavy at the start. Unfortunately I think my last trip was two years ago. Hit 15 different lakes that trip. I have developed health issues now so backpacking probably isnt in my future.
@@cooperc4060 oh wow, impressive! I’m sorry to hear about your health issues, hopefully car camping is at least still in your cards.
