Besides the convenience of always having a charged controller, you give them both a rest when you're not using them (they'll last longer in general), you have a backup in case one of them fails and you can play with a friend that visits you.
Or buy a better internal battery. On Amazon you can buy one with a installing kit. It is a 2600mah accu vs the OG 1560mah. With that one you have 66% longer play time and its easy to install.

I agree with most of these. My favorite method, which isn't yet official, is to simply get an extended battery for the PS5 Controller. You will have to disassemble the controller somewhat to install it, but it tends to last a lot longer than the official battery.
Good thing to note is you can use a PS4 controller to play the PS4 versions of games. So I tend to switch between PS5 and PS4 games while switching controllers too so that they both have time to charge

This reminds me when I went from using some thunderbolt magnums (sounds like a condome brand) to some Duracell rechargeable batteries for my steam controller (befor I got fed up trying to get the AAs out of them). They lasted so much longer.
honestly having the DualSense charging station and a second controller is all you need to avoid this problem without having to change any settings. It’s a great investment in my opinion
i remember turning the haptic feedback off, not to save battery but to put less strain on my hands when i was playing re8. i just forgot to turn it back on and now whenever i see people complain about short battery life i think, well not my controller. after seeing this video, i realize why i dont have battery issues lol.

Also I can recommend if you want to charge your Dualsense battery but not have a wire get a PS5 Power Bank, you can charge the power bank when you don't need it and the Power Bank will charge your controller without the need for wires as it clips onto your Controller when plug it into the Dualsense.
Hi John, you forgot to mention that you can get a piggy back extrenal battery system that clips onto the front USB-c and has as much power as the internal battery. I have 3 controllers with each set up with one of these batteries. That way I always have two sitting on charge. Yes, a lot of my settings are minimised without losing the feel of the dualsense. After using my controller for the day, I press the charge button on the piggyback one to transfer the power. Then next day when using a different controller, I plug it in so the external battery charges. I test that the dualsense has charged as when they are plugged into a charger, often all that charges is the external battery
Had two controllers. Serious stick drift on one, mouse got into our basement and ate the rubber off the thumbsticks on the other. Now I have four controllers. Haha
I already did all these but I do know when the controller says it needs charged it actually just warning you it's best to charge it now before battery damage meaning if u use it past the ps5 charging signal it will make ur ps5 controller battery life shorten
Ok, I just set my controller settings to what you recommended but getting another or more like three other controllers will have to wait till I eventually get a computer desk and an inzone monitor (until something else that can do better comes along I can't complain since it's a means to an end.)
Actually if you shut all the features of DualSense such as vibrate, light and adaptive trigger Your DualSense can play a lot longer like 5-6 hours nonstop
Just fit a bigger 2600mah li-on battery in the controller from amazon,they easy to fit and plenty vids on UA-cam on how to swap out the battery for a higher rated battery
Just got a PS5 a week now. Its shocking how fast the battery runs out even with all features turn off. I'm accustomed to xbox controller which i bought four 2500mAh rechargeable batteries and 4 way charging pack. It last much longer and its much cheaper than having to buy a second controller. I don't get why everyone criticize Microsoft for having batteries instead. I wish Sony had that option.
I have the PS4 dualshock as the second controller. The other one can be charging while using the other. Of course you can't play PS5 games with the dualshock but there are still a lot of PS4 games to play on PS5.
Get a second controller and the charging stand if you can. I usually play around say 3hrs at a time, and only sometimes does 1 bar go down on the battery.
When you connect the official ps5 headset to your ps5, the dualsense controller speaker is automatically muted. I’m not sure if other headsets do this as well since that’s the only one I have.
I’m not too fussed with all the Dualsense features so I’ve turned off the controller sounds, trigger effects and vibration, dimmed the lights and now my controller lasts ages. I can put it through one whole session without charge and then I just leave it to charge the day after for roughly an hour before I start playing.

I got 3 extra controllers. Got an extra when I got my ps5. Then when the black controllers came out I got 1. Got my nephew a ps5, got him an extra controller, but was going to exchange it for a color that he wanted and just keep it instead. 1 month later it started drifting so I exchanged it for another black one lol. If you going to get controllers, Best Buy is where to go. Their insurance is top notch. They replace stuff with what they have in the store no questions asked.
I have 1 normal, 1 black and 1 pink DualSense. I have the adaptive triggers turned of, I find it so annoying while playing games. I have rumbling on the weakest setting, and controller speaker on the max, but most of the games dont really make use of it. For me it lasts very very long.

@@coreymckee4844 This applies to all Li-ion batteries, rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries require the exact opposite. Avoiding a 100% charge will also extend the battery life but that’s kinda hard to do with a controller.

I never got when people buy one controller only. Especially if you into playing for long sessions. I legit always have one controller in use while the other is charging and just swap as I go.
and btw, you dont need to plug the controler as soon as the ps5 tell you the battery level is low, you actually have a 2-3 more hours of play time in charge.

The DualSense charging station has been quite handy. Completely eliminating any concerns I had, since I only game for 2 hour intervals.

You forgot the turn off automatically after 10 minutes when not being used. That's a very good battery saving tip as well. 👀🔥

I have a question for you, did you max out the display area settings in the sound and screen settings on you’re ps5?
For me what helps the most is muting the microphone. I rarely run out of battery now.

I own 6 different official DualSense controller's and always keep my controller's in USB mode when plugged in.

You can buy a 2600mah battery to replace the 1560mah in the Dualsense.
I have 2 controllers for my PS5 and I rotate them on the DualSense charging station. That's about all I do.
