- A young family that fled Ukraine last year and arrived as war refugees in South Carolina were in desperate need of answers and a miracle when they feared their young daughter was profoundly deaf. As "CBS Mornings" lead national correspondent David Begnaud found out, all hope was not lost after they met hearing specialists in the U.S.

The child’s mother is a doctor. Just because she can’t practice in the USA, doesn’t change her years of work and practice
I am sure she can apply and go to residency in the US, then she can practice.
She SHOULD be able to practice in the US! She is great.
@@matthewschwartz6607 She'd first have to pass the US Medical Licencing Exam (USMLE), and then apply for a residency and complete it. I'm sure once her English improves, she'll be able to do so.
@@Anniefawesomepeople from other countries often have to completely start over and go to medical school again. Its rly not simple at all and can be demeaning
Ugh, America should have a fast track for this
Beautiful family Blessings to Ukrainian families
my God, the look on the child's face gave me tears!!
We take A LOT for granted here in America.
Sure do. Especially the people that get free rent free health care free food and free cell phones … they are sometimes the most ungrateful people …. Blows my
Mind.
Must suck for these immigrants and refugees to come to such a broken, racist, homophobic, transphobic country.
@@justincraig398I usually find the people who's lives set them up to be able to earn those things without help that don't understand how much they have to be grateful for the most.
Heartwarming story, so happy they were able to get the help they needed for their child
I’m happy they are safe & baby girl got the help she needed. Everyone deserves a chance to have a good life ❤️
All the best to that beautiful family and God Bless Ukraine.
Thank you for good news. I get sick of hearing bad news.
My prayers include all the Ukrainians 🌹
Beautiful family. Glad they are here and getting support from my fellow Americans. 🇺🇲♥️🇺🇦
Finally some good news! 😊
How satisfying to be able to give someone a gift they can never repay, to really make a difference to someone else
Wishing happiness and blessings to the baby and her family! ♡
this is America at his best
watch this little girl hear and ....get ready to cry
Such a beautiful story 🫶🏽👏🏽
South Carolina has a wonderful school for deaf children, South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind located in Spartanburg county and they serve the entire state
What a blessing!
To anyone with a child who seems to have a hearing problem, don't wait! The earlier the intervention is done the better the outcome! Sometimes cochlear implants don't work but when they work it is awesome. Our kindergarten classroom has 3 kids who are coclear implanted. They function as hearing children. Absolutely amazing.
So happy for the little girl and her family. So thankful for the Doctors and their expertise. Blessings to all.❤😊😊
Thank you for this heartwarming story.❤
So wonderful! Best wishes to the family.❤
Aww what a cutie 😢
The second the video started i started crying.
There are still good people here in the US. Great story
Southern hospitality? Just people being kind and it doesn’t just happen in the South. And the mother didn’t understand that culture reference so it’s not “cringe” as someone said above.
Beautiful!
Now can we help the deaf child refugees from Honduras, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Sudan, Venezuela etc.
?
Beautiful gorgeous i love it
I absolutely love seeing children get help... but my niece is a citizen and generation's before her.... but the family can't afford it and insurance doesn't cover it... if we can help others, why can't we help Americans 😢
Contact your state
@@Mkaela90 ....your state What?
We need Medicare for all. Vote for Democrats for any chance of that happening. Republicans don’t care if people get healthcare.
@Nicole S yeah, we are in the same state...South Carolina.....but you see, just being a regular person.... not news worthy
We just barely help others. If every story like this theres hundreds of thousands of refugees with no where to turn that we dont help
Respect America and the people annd culture or leave America ...period
Heart warming story.
Absolutelly wonderful and empowering 😅story. Wonderful human approach. Do not ask what the world can do for you. Do it yourself. Dont give up, cheerio ! Carry on !
Slava Ukraine!
When she hit the xylophone🥹
A wonderful thing to give.
Is it just me or are her pupils different sizes ? 6:01 My son was just diagnosed with ocular motor dysfunction. I hope her eyes are okay and they can move on.
Good stuff 😊
I love that his last names is McCracken 😆
I wish the doctors name was Phil.
Do you know how to direct me in how I can help a family. I have extra room.
MR.BEAST just did the same but with a 1,000 people.
I have been signing since I was 7 so basically 28 years..I will be 35 in September
"We call that Southern hospitality." Said slowly and louder. This did not pass the vibe check.
In today's age, there is no such thing as southern hospitality. Look at the governors of Florida and Texas. No hospitality there.
white and blonde , welcome

heart warming story ❤
Now give this treatment free to any American who needs it. We can afford it.
I hope to one day see the same outreach for some of the people the U S gov't sent back to Haiti after two natural disasters and at least 1 episode of civil unrest stiming from the assassination of their president occurs.
I’m a proud northern woman and I’m very hospitable. The south doesn’t own hospitality. Would they treat African refugees with the same care? Hmmm.
I lived steps from this Medical University and I can tell you EVERYONE is treated well there and in the area, like a big family. Races mix more there than anywhere I’ve ever seen.
Racists are the minority
please don't take offense and reference "African refugees" when you want to say the South is racist. Please just try to celebrate this child's good fortune without trying to defend the fact you too are hospitable when you nor "the north" were never accused of not also being hospitable. Your personal insecurities are showing.
You don't sound hospitable when you assume we are all racist down here. Bless your heart.
God bless America
I’m surprised it wasn’t Mr. Beast who gave her hearing back haha
🥹
Southern hospitality is a real thing...unless you are from south of the border.
Unless you’re a racist, being hospitable to brown immigrants is just too hard apparently.
What an ignorant post!
@@leslieclark9285 The South blindly follows Donald Trump and treats him like a golden idol. The political leadership of the South are against ANY comprehensive immigration reform. I rest my case.
Is this one of the cases Mr. Beast was involved with?

God is real
Tax dollars hard at work for the citizens of this country😊
This is great and all, but we aren't even taking care of our own citizens.
Well, your welcome I guess. Considering I helped pay for it.
So uplifting, removing a child from the Deaf Community by subjecting them to radical surgery ❤
Is this sarcasm?!
Now she can hear the blasts from Russian missile and bomb attacks. 😢
Always nice to see.
But We should probably help US citizens 1st before we start giving handouts to people from other countries.
Please note that this child was refused twice previously for the procedure. Every month a child goes without hearing and
sign language, the child regresses. Communication is crucial for learning.
@@teresalegler2777 OK thanks... and the U.S. need to fix that in other countries before helping U.S. citizens WHY?
Why do you think this wasn't paid for with his factory job at the BMW plant?
@@MattMatt77 we should increase minimum wage, provide universal healthcare and affordable housing.
This is the kind of mentality that is destroying our nation. 🙄
It's a shame. AMERICANS are currently living in poverty across the USA while people like this get opportunity and help. What a shame.
How incredible that a grown adult is jealous and resentful of a 2 year old little girl who is deaf.
agree
We could have universal healthcare to help all Americans but any time that gets brought up, conservatives freak out.

cringe
It’s a cultural reference that she wouldn’t understand- it’s “cringe” the interviewer didn’t use better judgment instead of trying to get a reaction out of her and make her feel awkward.
@@d2d2d28 Yes, thank you for explaining why I said "cringe" that's why I said it.

A story of courage? I'm happy for the kid, but isn't Oleg a deserter?

They don't even treat black Americans like that. Who has been here over 500 years. They don't even treat black American veterans with such respect. I have been waiting for my V/A pension for over 7 years. They gave me 1O% which is $171 dollars per month. I am 61 years old and was injured badly in the Marines. I have nothing else to say.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
