Whichever passport he held you could always hear that he came from Swabia in southern Germany. I've got a collection of recordings of many of his speeches. Even speaking English it's obvious that he was a Swabian. The Swabian dialect has a quite distinctive sound. He tried to hide it a bit here but didn't succeed completely at that speech. It's most obvious when he articulates "sh"-sounds when people from northern Germany certainly wouldn't do.

The quality of this is amazing! Even the Deutschlandlied works well! In other recordings from the same time period, some parts are just garbled noises due to the microphones being overwhelmed with the sound.
And to think what would come three years later is so eerie, it‘s like seeing a car crash you can‘t prevent. What many don’t consider is that Einstein‘s letter to Roosevelt in the later years is the tipping point where science became very intertwined with the military (i.e. nukes, later chemical weapons and lasers, etc.). A while back, we had to read the Cold War book „The Physicists“ (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Physicists ) in school. It isn‘t the most capitvating book (as usual with school books) but it certainly leaves an impression after reading its tragic end and shows that science has a responsibility towards the world community.
