      I was still having issues, but this sorted it, Try disconnecting the vacuum pipe from the evap solenoid in the engine bay first, leave it disconnected and see if it makes a difference, just block the pipe engine side with a screw/bolt, and leave the tank side open to vent, tie the loose pipes out the way job done, the issue is fuel being sucked down the vent pipe and flooding the engine.Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

    I have a juddering at 30 miles an hour and thought it might be the mass air flow sensor. I have cleaned and the problem persist. I will try changing the spark plugs next. I don't appear to be leaking any fuel, however, the car seems to miss fire and hesitate mainly between 20-30mph. Any guidance would be greatly apprecaited.

    Maybe a stupid question, but don't they have a separate fuel filter as well to stop this happening?

    • @gavjlewis
      @gavjlewis Рік тому +1

      Many cars have secondary fuel filters but these are used to stop tiny particles blocking the fuel injectors.
      The one in the tank is to filter the fuel so the fuel pump doesn't get blocked by all the crud that is in the tanks at the petrol station.
      The only other way you could filter it before would be to filter it as you pump it in. This would require much lower filling speeds.
      At the end of the day many cars will never need a replacement and I'd imagine this Yaris will never need another again.

      gasoline has too .. but acts diferently . my case for example : my alternator , was dead (i managed to change it today ..a little fortune to find one in autodemolition, and some elbow greesse) so ..when the alternator is dead, that simbol for the filter/fuelpomp lights up ..because need energy ..now it can be the built in filter of the imertion pump, or the pomp .. my case, soon asfter the battery symbol lighted up.. so those too .. told me that must be either the alternator, or the batery ..anyway, your video is quite informative, so thnx again :)

      @@aaanton11 Thanks for the answer and the info. From my diagnosis I can say, that the fuel tank has a venting problem which causes either an overpressure while standing or a vacuum when consuming fuel - which also will be the reason for the EVAP to suck fuel while driving instead of air causing the engine stalling. Sadly this car does not have a fueltank pressure sensor to monitor the EVAP system itself.
      It seems the venting mechanism is not standard and is done via the fuel pump (I saw venting hoses connected to it in your video). I ordered a new fuel pump from HELLA 8TF358 303-121 (100€/112$) and a original charcoal canister to further narrow down the problem. I keep you updated...

      @@aaanton11 Unfortunately, not only is the plastic clamp cheap, but the design is also flawed.
      The primary charcoal canister is part of the unit. Their typical mistake is that fuel gets into the engine through the exhaust branch of the gasoline vapor, so it jerks and stops even while driving. If you pull off the lower tube of the secondary canister and gasoline flows out of it, then this is the situation.
