1000% proof that Google listens to my everyday non-phone/text conversations. Never typed or spoke about cast iron over the phone/text. Had a lengthy conversation yesterday with a friend about cleaning cast iron. Now this video pops up 12 hours later.

I was talking to a friend about kitchen aid mixers one time and then I started seeing them be advertised to me everywhere. Even the ads on UA-cam were showing them. 🤦 I've had a lot of other similar things happen as well. Thanks for watching and consider subscribing. Lots more on the way.

It was a lot of fun but if I'd have left in all the scrubbing it'd have been an hour long video 😂. Turned out great I've used it a few times already. Thanks for watching.

It turned out fantastic. I soaked the mushrooms in beef broth before cooking them and I think it'll be a regular thing. Exquisite, 🤌 Thanks for watching,

Great job, Nothing works as good as a well-seasoned cast iron skillet. To bad most people don't know how to cook or care for them anymore.

It turned out good even with just 2 rounds of seasoning. I have a few others I'm going to do in the near future a chicken fryer and a Dutch oven. Consider subscribing if you haven't yet. Thanks for watching.

Bacon grease I find works best to cure it, lard if no bacon

I've heard lard works great and is likely what they used exclusively in the days of old. It's like fishing with night crawlers. Sometimes you can't beat the original methods. Thanks for watching.

Mine was worse than that, much worse. A handful of kosher salt and some veg oil, a crap sponge and some elbow grease, and it came out perfect in 5 minutes.

Best seasoning for a cast iron skillet is Crisco! But oil also works.

    • @StocksFarm

Some people swear on grapeseed oil too. I'd like to try Crisco for my next one I've heard a lot of people say it works great.

It does, I got an extremely CRUSTY pan from the flea market and I put it on the gas grill on high for about 45min, all the crust turned to ash and fell off. I washed it and seasoned it with Crisco. Good as new!

@@Goldenkryptonite999 I have a chicken fryer that's rusted up pretty good I'll have to try that on. I'm going to a flea market this weekend and am going to have my eyes peeled for more cast iron. I've always wanted one those hanging kettles with the lid you can put hot coals on top of.

@@StocksFarm those are also called Dutch ovens, and you should expect them to be spendy. This is a great video.

@@OtherSarah2 Thanks for watching. So that's the official Dutch oven. I'll definitely be on the look out and like you said I expect to have to dig deep in my pockets. Lodge makes a cast iron grill called the Sportsman's Pro. They look really nice and are quite expensive. The vintage ones are highly sought after. Consider subscribing if you haven't yet I plan to do more restorations soon.
