In the video I discuss my first couple of hours with the game, what I like, what I don't like and what I hope to see improved. Many of you are asking if Prehistoric Kingdom is the Jurassic World Evolution killer? Find out in the video!

So i dont fully agree with you here. Yes the game is bare bones at the present time, however checking their roadmap for the next free months alot of those issues mentioned are due to be fixed. In addition this game is only 30 quid, and this is their first game. I am prepared to forgive them a few issues at this stage. JWE2 was released in a very poor state by a company that knows better, for double the price who already had experiance with the first game. Frontier doesnt get a free pass as a result.
I pinned this comment as I think it’s always important to see the counter points to my own view and you sum it up nicely. You’re right, it’s half the price of JWE2 from when it was released and that too felt very lacking. And yes, the roadmap here looks strong, but the devil will always be in the detail. If they can follow through with the roadmap then this game will be killer. However I think people need to know that what they are getting today for their money might not represent what they have seen from marketing material, but what you say is totally true too. @@midlifegamer84 Oh yeah i totally agree. They gotta stick to the roadmap. But somehow i have more faith in them then frontier. Atleast individual trees didnt need to be patched back in...
Tbf Jurassic World started out with TONS of animals, including flying and marine. Lots of customization, a story mode, challenge modes and Chaos Theory. That's not a bad launch.
@@JadenCH2K : The aquatic animals are dull because of a lack of animations and quality, both them and the Pterosaurs still phase through their encolsures and escape, the game launched with a huge array of bugs and graphics related issues. The customisation was ok. The story mode...was a joke. It was laughable. Challenge mode was better and where the true game was. The Chaos Theory Modes? Only san Diego is worth it. The others were bland, dull and uninspired.
100% - indie vs studio and the difference is notable. Though, I only have a certain amount of hours to play as an adult, so JWE won that battle. IF and when PK does a full release, I'll happily support them.
If they are charging money for it. Then it is completely fair to review. People need to know if its worth buying now or waiting for when its polished or for a price drop.
I personally believe PK *has* the potential to outshine JWE2, but in its current state it still has a ways to go before it escapes JWE2’s eminence shadow
With Prehistoric Kingdom, there are a few people who hear the name and Nigel involved in it and wonder if it's a take on continuing the old Walking With...series side universe with the Chased By, Sea Monsters, and Prehistoric Park (mainly the last one).
Even the name is similar, the world needs a second season of Prehistoric Park, it's a fact, we need it
If they sort out the performance issue I would be extremely happy, for now, I don't care about the guest, they are placeholders and they will work on them later, but the accuracy of the animals, the beauty of their models, and how you can create great-looking habitats with low effort is what I love about it. There is also the building system which is one of the best I've ever seen, so many modular pieces, so much customization, the replay value is really high thanks to that.

I have to agree with you. The lack of guest involvement and lack of park staff is a killer for the game imo. Like you said it is early access and those features could still be implemented, but as far as the early access is concerned I believe my expectations were also too high. I’m not discouraged though, I am very interested in how this game development will “play out”.
100% agree with you. The game is rough on the edges and even at such a low price, I'm not sure it was ready to be launched as an early access. Even so, I did buy it and played a couple hours and it def has potential.
Ah man, love your reviews! Thank you, was really tempted by this but then remembered playing the demo awhile ago which was a bit iffy, so maybe wait awhile before jumping into this one.
Thank you for the kind comments. Honestly, I think there is a REAL game in here. Genuinely, its close to being great so for an early access title it has massive promise. But I just don't think I can justify it as of today at this price unless you know exactly what you are getting yourself in for. If so then all good and go for it, but maybe wait 6 months as no doubt it will get a little polish!

Looks interesting. Been playing JWE2 and enjoy it fairly well. Seeing the PK roadmap and it being early access - I think I'll let this one bake in the oven for a bit and take another look at it later this year.

I am fully aware this is an early access title so I must look at this through the lens of "it will only get better" but I must also be honest and say right now, the $30 is a lot to stomach for the current game. I agree with a lot of things you mentioned in your video. I was really hyped for this game and seen as how long it’s already been in development was rather disappointed we don’t have more features and interactions. Yes I know it’s still early access, but I’ve played a few early access games with better features..It still needs a lot of refinement and improvements to the UI and guest interactions. Hopefully it will continue to improve as we see further updates.
Just see the changes betwen alpha and Early Acces, the're working hard in this game, also it's an indie, they can't work as fast as Frontier Development , for example
The game is it only on PC so it won’t be the JWE2 killer for long and beside the game wasn’t fully completed due to Covid and Jurassic world Dominion not being out

100% agree with you here. While yes its an early access game, it just lacks so many things I love so much about planet zoo. There are no staff, no guest feedback and not to mention the fact that its poorly optomized. Like seriously, I have above the recommended specs and my pc barely even manages to get 45-50 fps at medium settings and 1080p resolution. I have hope though, just think it could have been released into early access in a bit more of a playable state. Still enjoying this game though, just not as much as I'd like due to all these issues.

JWE is licensed content, so the overall dinosaurs are better looking/familiar to the childhood memory. I ended up getting JWE2 and enjoyed it MORE than overall PK -
PK feels clunky, not intuative and just 'boring' - whilst JWE feels like a story.
PK however has full customisation and really cool building functionality, so it's a give and take. Suppose after full release, i'll buy it again
They should've just waited until the game was finished before releasing it. You're gonna have to wait for four or five years for more content. It's really not worth it at all right now.

no, el contenido va saliendo de forma casi mensual, por lo que cada cierto tiempo, (que apenas son unos meses), sale contenido que ademas es gratuito
Pretty sure no developers shoot for 4k right into EA..........they aim a bit lower........like being able to run the game.
I don’t think developers necessarily aim for a resolution as such… but for a 3080 should be able to push medium settings on a game of this nature
I think you place way way too much emphasis on guests. Most of the management aspects in planet zoo are just chores to me. I have JWE free from epicgames and I dont even bother installing it. The foliage brush and resizing alone have me sold. Planet zoo also has non-existent optimisation. Is the optimisation for PZ that much better than PK?
Man never played sandbox Zoo Tycoon 2. Do you know how annoying it is to get animals in baby form, like in Zoo Tycoon 1, or from a hatchery in Jurassic Park Operation Genesis. It really limits the freedom. And freedom is what these games are about.
You are also complaining about keepers and customers too? They are the most boring part of any zoo game and just make everything lag if you don't have a shittone of money to waste on a computer. Good thing this game has self removing poop.
If they gave you a complete island that you could build on in every area, yeah this would’ve killed JWE.

Estos que siguen llorando por sus islas, primero, los mapas de este juego están en continentes, por lo que esa idea ni siquiera aplica, y segundo, la construcción en toda las isla es algo (ademas de difícil) innecesario, basta con que el mapa sea grande, porque los mapas de este juego son de hecho inmensos, son tan grandes que tu pc explotara antes de siquiera llenar todo el mapa
This is the true successor of Zoo Tycoon series and JPOG. JWE games are god damn jokes now.
That hideous game is more like.... dino fighting game than a zoo building game. And dinosaur models are hilariously bad too.
I understand they follow the designs of JP franchise if the dino appears in movies. But there are dinosaurs that were never in any JP movies but looks so awful.
Such as Acrocanthosaurus. Acro in JWE games looks like a walking dolphin. And look what PK acro looks like. GOD DAMN GORGEOUS.

Prehistoric Kingdom does deserve your money in its current state, not because it has all the content, but because supporting the game will eventually get it there. For sure at the end of development it won't be perfect, but having an alternative to JWE2 is good for the players, both games competing for your money will push each harder for both game content and features.
I swear if they just copy planet zoo management mechanic im not buying it i want raw and unique mechanic.
You’re probably gonna be disappointed then lmao. Hard to make zoo management a “raw and unique” mechanic as most management games inherently follow the same blueprint
@@drakenaas3218 well if you compare zoo tycoon 2 and planet zoo management mechanic you can see that planet zoo have unique mechanic that zoo tycoon never had and i didnt even realize until i install back zoo tycoon 2
Even jwe franchise have unique mechanic that jpog dont have
